Tony Iommi invented the riffs, Bill Ward the drums, Geezer Butler made the lyrics and bass lines and Ozzy create singin melodies and he was a front man
This album was so great, this song gets lost in the shuffle. It was released September 18th 1970, the same day Jimi Hendrix died. Tough day to get your new album noticed.
Probably one of the most brutally honest descriptions of a veteran's trauma and drug addiction. Sabbath never pulled punches. Although rooted in the Blues, Sabbath also had some Jazz influences, which are plainly evident in the main groove of this song. Abracadabra, great choice and great reaction!
@@denystull355 I love mountain so much Leslie and felix 👌👌🤘 and flowers of evil is phenomenal mountain never failed dreams of milk and honey was great obviously Mississippi Queen is a banger and so is Never in my mind
Watching your mind being blown was awesome! I love your reactions because their pure. Zeppelin and Sabbath are two sides of the most fantastic coin the world has ever produced. Pure British gold. I’ve been trying to decide which band is better for 40 years. I’ve always leaned slightly towards the dark side of Sabbath over the light of Zeppelin.
It´s truly a heavy piece of art this one! Cool watching you get hooked about them like this, and the birds chirping away in the background =) Just got home from a AA meeting and I needed some Black Sabbath right now.
A national acrobat, St. Vitus Dance, The Wizard, Backstreet Kids, Johnny Blade, Electric Funeral, Black Sabbath, Warning, Lord of this world, Rat salad, Wicked World, Sign of the Southern Cross(Dio), I(also Dio).
@@brianrussell6570 Not at all man, different strokes for different folks. Sabbath has the soul, something you can't teach, Zeppelin has that mainstream pop that few could duplicate.
Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Rainbow, AC/DC all great bands. Hand of Doom is a great song great lyrics and music.
AC DC is great band, personally I really liked albums with Bonn Scott. There is a song they did called Night Prowler about a serial killer in CA in those days. At the end of the song you hear someone say Shazzbat, nano nano. What Robin William's character Mork would say on Mork and Mindy tv show. Heard he really liked the band. Funny stuff!
I dig how you really appreciate the transitions from hard to soft / fast to slow tempo - I think Sabbath are masters of that. The words to this song should scare anyone away from hard addictive drugs.
Can never go wrong with Sabbath. Bill Ward is so underrated. For my money....the best drummer there is. Give "Symptom of the Universe" a spin. Or if you want to hear a different side of Sabbath...."Planet Caravan" "Changes" or "Solitude". The latter, in my opinion, is one of the heaviest songs ever.
Black Sabbath is one of the greatest ever. But once again, all Ozzy does is sing. He doesn't write the music or the lyrics. The lyrics are all from the bassist, Geezer Butler.
@mark white, no, you're mistaken. Ozzy would at most come up with the vocal melody, and sometimes a line or two. He would scat random lyrics as the band worked the song up, and sometimes a word or phrase would become the song title, as Crazy Train did in his solo band (Bob Daisley used that and wrote the lyrics around it). That's it, that's all Ozzy did, besides play a little harmonica. Tony wrote most of the music, and Geezer the lyrics.
@@billwicketvogel1787 , yep, that's all he did. He didn't write any of the music, and he didn't write the lyrics to the songs, other than the odd phrase here and there. Period. You don't like that objective fact, too bad.
@@Semordnilaps , yes, it is. It's fucking amazing. If y'all ever want to hear what Ozzy would have sounded like if he hadn't lost the plot after Randy died, check out the band Sheavy.
One of my all time favorite Sabbath songs, thanks! I came across your reactions today. About 5 in now and I could definitely hang out and listen to music with you. Keep 'em coming.
I want to bring my chair and hangout with you and just listen to so much great music with ya. I like how you pay attention, you're here for the music not to just be a youtuber. Thanks, man!
At 62 I can remember listening to these guys at 13. I still get those same feelings everytime I listen to.them. Ozzy is called the Prince of Darkness for a reason.
One of the greatest songs of all time right here. If this song was released today it would be hit! Timeless. So damn good! And the drums?!?!? Good lord...
I envy you, hearing Back Sabbath for the first time was and is a revelation! Every track takes you on a journey. They still sound epic, 50+ years later and that's something rare!
#1 reaction site, no question ... you have gained a true fan. You've been spot on with each and every reaction I have watched from you. Keep them coming, you are the real deal ... ✌
Many thanks for your recognition of classic roots music and your critical reactions... music appreciation is the language that melts all boundaries and barriers.... carry on!
Had to come back check you out again your introspect is cool i know some vietnam vets that went through this . "Death hand starts to weave" is deep bro been there
The story about Black Sabbath is very interesting, because before they was call Black Sabbath, they was call Earth ,it was a blues band, every friday night they was practicing their music and they had a cinema just near the place they practiced ,every friday night they had 2 horror movies was playing and the crowd was always full,so they said ,why we dont play horror music? so they start to play a triton note ,this note was forbiden since the medieval time, because it attrack the demon ,evil ,etc,,so they used the triton note, distorsion etc,,,and they changed their name for Black Sabbath
2:41after Ozzy wails 'Realities can wait' and you said 'Fuck!' that not only summed up the visceral power of a good Sabbath song, but made me laugh...that drummer is a BEAST
The Black Sabbath song you really want to check out is Into The Void. I Also concur with the Sabbra Cadabra suggestion. It's a lot more upbeat than most of their stuff. I think you'd also like The Wizard- Bill Ward going to town on the drums again, plus Ozzy playing harmonica.
Paused before you started to play this. Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to dive into Sabbath. This is my favorite from this album. So many other great songs on so many other album. Enjoy the deep end my friend
Yes! Excellent reaction. I knew you'd love this song. Glad to hear you're still planning to listen to the whole album (Paranoid) and share your review with us! I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it. It seems to be many people's favorite Black Sabbath album.
New to your channel Abracadabra. Love, love love your reactions. So honest, and so clear how passionate you are about music. So real to see how when this music hits you, it resonates. Keep on keepin on
Another great song and a real reaction. You either get it or you don't. Live to see someone honestly get it, for real. Everyone should take a page from your book brother.
Black Sabbath volume 4 is incredible in my listening experience it's a master piece...I got to meet black Sabbath back stage many years ago. They were incredible to say the least..bill Ward was absolutely amazing on drums..
thank you for your time in the military. I enjoyed your reaction to this song. most people don't understand the meaning of hand of doom. you got it n I appreciate it. I'm subscribed
That was really a beautiful reaction! I'll come back! Ozzy, Fuck Yeah! What I immediately like about this video. Your name, Abracadabra. Your logo on the left. Your attitude. You're outside and you look comfortable and relaxed. I'm going to quote you, "He say a certain line, then he just go up". You noticed the distinct sections in this song. I think this might be my new favorite Black Sabbath song. I feel you man. You decided to highlight certain lyrics, nice. Let me say a few other things. Maybe you know Ozzy had serious drug problems. Cocaine is probably number one. In 1975, right after Vietnam ended and NIXON was impeached, Black Sabbath ruled the fucking world. Giant bowls full of Coke, wall to wall twat. What am I trying say? There's only one Black Sabbath. Only one Ozzy. Never to be repeated. And Ozzy can survive anything! If that was unclear, I'm a HUGH fan of Black Sabbath! Just in case you're not aware, that snake in your logo is an ouroboros. It consumes itself. Something like that. I like your attitude and commitment. In my initial reaction, quote you again, "That's a dark tale...over a perfect piece of music". I completely agree. I can't put it into words, but I completely understand. Your sincerity, your passion is very inspiring. My opinion, Led Zeppelin was my first love. Black Sabbath is really hard core, really original. I just stumbled upon your channel. You hit the bullseye when you said War Pigs, Fairies wear boots. Your sincerity and passion speak volumes! I mentioned the Ouroboros, I noticed the Eye of Horus, the 303 I don't understand. You inspired me to look up 303. I think I understand. Angel 303. Peace and harmony. Stay strong Bro. Spread love, not hate! I have to comment! Something actually hit you in the head! I thought you were full of shit! I'm sorry man. You're honesty is so great! Fuck yeah!
I remember the early seventies. A bunch of us riding around in friend's red mustang and screaming Black Sabbath songs. High AF! Never got pulled over. I don't think that would work these days! ♡
Lyrics by the GREAT Geezer Butler ... when you do listen again, Please listen to his bass work, it is the bones of this track. 49 years ago I bought this album and at 13 yo. I was so blown away that a week later I went and got the first album released 6-8 months before the Paranoid album Black Sabbath/Black Sabbath. after 50 years I can still listen to them everyday. NIB and Warning will be on your play list.
Hey, man... I was having such a crappy day then RU-vid recommends this video... RU-vid reco's are usually crap, but this time ---- score!!... Glad I found your channel.... Subscribed immediately... Peace...
Sabbath outshines Zeppelin by far, that is my humble opinion. Up next should be Children Of The Grave, that one continues the story of War and how we should cope with things.
I must be insane then. Jimmy page stumbles through trashy guitar work and Robert plant moan like a bitch that just got slapped around. But that’s just my opinion.
I played this song in my car, with my 13 year old granddaughter, when it had finished, she said "grandad, is this song about taking drugs?" I said "yes". after a short pause, she said, "grandad, I wont take drugs" thank you black sabbath.
Buddy. It's a different kinda flower. One you often overlook but when you really see it, and smell it. It's pure bliss. Black Sabbath is Magic. I'm happy to see you enjoying it. Much Love.
