i was really worried he'd focus on the video like half the reactors do. I mean no disrespect to the creator of that fanmade video, but im starting to resent it, because people end up getting wrapped up in that. But this guy pays good attention to lyrics and instrumentation. This is a fantastic reaction. He clearly loves good music.
As a soldier who fought in Iraq in the early 2000's, this song always hits me so hard, every drum beat is a bullet or bomb burst that was fired from a politician's gun, but I pulled the trigger. Powerful message, we feed the war pigs every day.
I was in Iraq in the early 90’s and I was listening to Bob Marley , til this day every time I here Bob I zone out back to being there , so I feel what you are saying and indeed when I came across this song , the message grabbed me and it’s just such a powerful song in so many ways , ✌🏾🙏🏾
@@abracadabra3033 I listen to Bob every day, and go to a special place. I feel the hurt and pain of humanity. Just found your page today brother, I'm looking forward to taking a musical journey with you
@Chern69 Good point! It all comes back to black music no matter how you look at it. When the blues, jazz and gospel started getting attention from the masses, NO genre of popular music was ever the same afterwards. Even the whitest country artists play blues licks and chord progressions all the time.
Black Sabbath is the original heavy metal band. Ozzy's vocals and lyrics are profound. The band is hard as it gets and set the mold for metal. Ck out ironman🤘
This song was written by Terry "Geezer" Butler, including the lyrics. Geezer wrote all their lyrics, not Ozzy. Originally, this song had nothing to do with war. It was about satanic cults, and how stupid they are. It was originally called "Wirpugers day ( I'm close on the name, but wrong), which Butler said is like Christmas for satanists. (It's a bad word in England). Butler said the record company made him change the title of the song or they wouldn't allow it on the album. True story.
It's soooo frickin' awesome to watch your face as experience music that I (and everyone else) love! Black Sabbath was so ahead of their time-best guitar riffs ever.
Sabbath is badass...but let's make sure we mention Led Zep and Deep Purple along with them when we are talking about "creating the genre". All the old timers recognized that as truth. It was these three, and there massive collective talents all hitting, that together truly launched it off.
I think this genre of music evolved but sabbath owned it . Dazed and Confused came before this and can be described as the same genre same with Voodoo Child . If you dive into the Yardbirds , they had some pretty dark and bleak stuff like Still I'm sad . It's not like flicking a switch there is an evolution with a host of influences . Judas Priest took the blues out of metal and it can be argued they "created" pure metal but it was an evolution .
These guys were born just after the end of WW2 in Birmingham. It was not a pleasant experience in the working class parts of England in the post war period. It certainly spawned many great rock bands though, and I mean the UK as a whole in the 60’s and 70’s. Black Sabbath’s first five albums are amazing. Can’t go wrong with anything from them.
@Abracadabra 303 it’s a certified classic. I meant to say the first six albums they released are just amazing. You see the progression of the band across those records. And again, all of them considered classics in the Hard Rock world.
I love the fact that you actually paid attention to the lyrics. Too many reaction videos the people don't pay attention to the lyrics. Thank you. Your awesome.
I really like your chill demeanor. BS was the group that introduced me to heavy metal in the 70s. They were my gateway to Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and so many other great bands from that era.
For me Stones were the first in 1965...I was 5. Next came Beatles then my favorite Zeppelin!! Pink Floyd came next...then Sabbath and Rush. God do I miss the 70s!
When you said, "That's guitars heavy", and sat back to relax? I thought to myself, "You'll be sitting back up real quick!" One very true song isn't it? Great little pick-up to my day when I check your channel out. Must get out harvest my beans! No more RU-vid for me!! lol
@@kendixon7118 yep, War Pigs came out on the Paranoid album in 1970. That video is pretty recent, I don't know who made it but they did in astonishingly good job.
Yeah, I think the video was made to go with the song in a movie or game at some point MUCH later. I swear I think I first saw it on TV maybe in the late 90s or 00s? It's great work, but after listening to Sabbath for SO many years before that I don't like it for the song. Anyway, great reaction & glad you didn't get distracted by the vid. Enjoy the Sabbath rabbit hole! 🙂
This song was first performed in 1969 live. It blew the audience away! This was a protest of the Vietnam war and all wars started by evil politicians all over the world. We have to rid the world of evil to live in peace.👍
Love your reaction to "War Pigs" and your general appreciation of music. For sure you've heard "Iron Man" or "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. You will recognize those tracks once your hear them. Bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin and Deep Purple we're the first blues rock bands which layed the foundation for heavy metal... The first couple of albums by Black Sabbath are completely off the hook. Timeless masterpieces. Remember to check out "Child in Time" by Deep Purple. You'll love it... Love, peace and respect from Berlin!
Music back in the day was filled with a “Push and Pull” of emotions. Tension. and beauty that only people playing instruments can understand. Heaven as you said ❤️
Black Sabbath never got the recognition for their anti-war-establishment-drug songs back in the day. I don’t think they got the credit they deserved for those sentiments that we heard since and hear now in the Heavy Rock genre. Put Children of the Grave, Hand of Doom, and Sabbaths Love Song to Weed, Sweet Leaf on your play list. If you indulge, definitely enjoy with a side of sweet leaf
Great reaction man. This song is one of my favorite songs of all time, both for the music and the lyrics. One of the greatest anti war songs ever made. Please watch/react to Black Sabbath War Pigs live in Paris 1969. The energy of the live performance of this song is something to see. You will gain an even greater appreciation of this band.
Yep. First name was Polka tulka blues band (or something like that🤔), then name was The Earth. And finally BLACK SABBATH🤘🤘 Black Sabbath was taken from old horror movie.
I remember being stoned on mescaline listening to this many years ago. I loved it then and I love it now. Music today sucks and the so called musicians can't play instruments. The past was better.
My dad's birthday (not in 1979 tho) is 9/18 so that's how I remember when Jimi died. Janis Joplin died on my 3rd birthday. Sad connections, but helps an old chick remember. ✌️
yes brother....this track is nearly 50 years old and the lyrics are still on point..vibe with it.....its a peace anthem....smash the war pigs and make them pay!!!
When I was in the Army back in 1980 I was a Machine gunner carrying the M-60 machine gun affectionately known as the pig or the hog.Everytime we we went out I would write "War Pig"on the guns receiver in chalk.Nothing rocked like sending a 250 round belt of tracer down range. It looked like a laser pointer at night.Barrel would be glowing white hot.You do know thats Ozzie Osbourne singing dont you?
sukie584 I sit up and look that direction but really I’m just focusing harder on what’s being said , I know it looks lol like I’m seeing the vids but really just tuned in and for some reason I turn that direction 😀
Black Sabbath were a GREAT band fronted by legendary Ozzy. Saw them live here in Canada and Ozzy solo twice. The lyrics to this are so RIGHT ON! ♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
@@thelatenightgrind4511 Hope you have the LP & thx for the message. It's a great song & the best of the anti-war pieces ever. LOVINGLY SIGNED, A PROUD 🇺🇸🦌💋
You have just scratched the surface, dozens of fire songs by sabbath 'into the void', 'the wizard', 'children of the grave', 'fairies wear boots', 'Supernaut', 'Symptoms of the universe' too many to name :)
Back in the late 1960's and early 1970's when I was in high school, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were the two top groups for listening to on my 'getting ready to play sports' cassette tape. Great breakdown of the song.
This is one of the most profound songs ever made and the video is also a work of art. Crazy how it's still relevant in a lot of ways. You know the lead singer is Ozzy Osbourne, right?
I didn’t know until someone pointed it out to me , I was shocked lol, I know Ozzy from the show with his family , didn’t know while I was reacting, I’m still in shock lol
Oh yeah, this came out in 1970, when I was ten years old, and I have the album (Paranoid) and could not guess how many times I have listened to it. You seem to really appreciate 'significant' songs, where the message is usually a protest against some injustice or another. Therefore, I have a request. Could you please do a brief check on what happened at Kent State University on May 4th, 1970, and then listen to the song Neil Young wrote when he heard the news over the radio. Story goes, he grabbed his guitar, took a walk in the woods for a couple of hours, came back, called up the guys in the band and told them to book a studio right away, he had a song they had to do. It came out very soon after, and it is called Ohio by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Please take a listen, and try not to let your blood boil.
Paranoid should be next. I'm surprised no one mentioned how guitarist Tony Lommi lost the tips of his fingers. It's on RU-vid, you should check it out.
Then you might like. "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath " war pigs would fit any generation and every war. Not to mention the leaders with the power to end humanity.
You should watch their Paris 1970 live version of this song, it’s amazing. Bill Ward on drums is a beast on this! Also check out their other songs Paranoid, Supernaut, Snowblind, Iron Man and Fairies Wear Boots.
For a great guitar riff try "Into the Void", For super innovative drums try "Children of the Grave" and to try out their other great singer Ronnie James Dio try "Heaven and Hell"
Leaders, people born into leadership or elected to it and then become autocrats, have been grinding up people for their own benefit forever...the only that’s different now, is the technology that allows these few leaders to do it globally... this drive is how humanity rose into societies, and it’s what will destroy us Great reaction...as expected. As I commented prior to watching
Listening to this song since I was a kid makes me hate this video. I had my own interpretation which was ten times better than that lame video lol. In the end good defeats evil.
Yes exactly..I feel it distracts from the awesomeness of the cool sounds and my vision was much better also..some songs should just be listened to...sometimes even with your eyes closed 😑 lol
You know when a reactor has an ear for great music when they don't get distracted by this video, which bears no relationship to the message of this song; instead focuses upon the musicianship and the lyrics.
If you look at some videos Of the guitar player "Tony Iommi" you'll notice the hand he frets the guitar with, has no finger tips. He lost them when he was 17, in an industrial accident, while working with sheet metal!🎸 Great reaction Abracadabra 303!😁 Ozzy is was on top of his game!🎸
