Odin's Court and Valhalla from Black Sabbath's 1990 album, Tyr. Tony Iommi on guitar, Tony Martin on vocals, Neil Murray on Bass, and Cozy Powell on drums.
Tony is a wonderful vocalist and human being. Of all Sabbath’s Vox since Ozzy, Dio and Tony’s voices were best suited for the music. Ray, RIP, ( not Ian) Gillian was probably the only other notable vocalist Sabbath had.
When these cds came out noone bought them, I did and I love the Tony Martin era of Sabbath, its great to see that this era is getting the respect and love it deserves.
Me too, i know all the drum beats, vocal lines, bass lines, guitar lines since i was 17 (50 now). Even i dont play any instrument. Such a great album!!
Funny how these Tony Martin era albums were not very appreciated when they came out, but today we hold them in such high regard. Really great albums indeed; TYR could have followed Heaven And Hell or Mob Rules easily.
For me it was the greatest Sabbath album since "Mob Rules". I had tears of joy streaming down my face as I listened to the cassette when it came out back in 1990, because after wading through the previous three albums (which I love and appreciate fully now), I was so overjoyed that Black Sabbath was BACK, and sounded like a legendary band again. :)
Soon you can and we all can. The Tony Martin boxset is coming out in May for all to buy this Great albums again. ;) its called Anno Domini, you're welcome!
i have the entire era of black sabbath with tony martin on vocals. tony martin never got the credit he deserved. i never cared for ozzy osbourne in black sabbath !
Tbh... he just sounds like he's trying to be Dio... but he can't and... i dunno, i don't think i like him that much cause of how similar he is to Dio, which is kinda shameless
From a technical standpoint, the greatest Sabbath lineup. As much as I love Dehumanizer, Iommi should have ran with this lineup. This album is gold and arguably the best since Heaven and Hell.
Tony Iommi would have continued with Martin, Cozy and Neil but a reunion with either Dio or Ozzy was worth a ton of money that Sabbath at the time was unfortunately wasn't getting because their current label IRS Records was doing a poor job of marketing them in America. I always wondered if Warner Bros kept Sabbath for Headless Cross and TYR then they would've had much better album sales.
One of the most tastefull rock intros ever. I know a lot of people didn't site TYR as real Sabbath (Ozzy slagged this album to no end) but it worked for me! Tony's voice is outstanding
christschinwon A lot of people were who were Sabbath plans till this day do not recognize the Tony Martin era as a great arrow music but to me Tony Martin was the best singer of Black Sabbath ever had
Ridiculous. I'd say that the 13 album had done what the Seventh Star album already had done decades prior. And what else did Ozzy do with the band? "Retirement" tours. And yet albums like this aren't re-released.
This record was my first contact with Black Sabbath back in 1995...I "borrowed" it from my brother and made a copy on tape. It's still one of my favourite Sabbath albums and very underrated.
Brings memories of Earth’s previous incarnations when ‘mythical’ creatures roamed... I can see the jagged blue mountains of Nordheim out of Robert E Howard’s stories, where the golden-haired Aesir and crimson Vanir carry on their ancient feud, a bright lone star shimmering above the tallest peak. Roiling clouds of the colors red, dark blue, and purple full of sparks. Tundras and dense forests of birch and spruce blanketed in snow and bathed in the silver light of the moon... The last time I saw Wotan, he was chasing a ship of dark elves across the sea. They had stolen something, but I do not know what.
Essa música é linda demais, nos arremete a um momento, uma época que vivemos em uma outra Vida, perfeita ! adoro Tommy e Tony Martin tem uma voz esplêndida, linda, uma magia na voz.
It's a shame that he didn't get more credit. Pretty good voice. I know sometimes it's heard to accept another singer in a band but they made a good choice to have him in the band.
best song of Sabbath w/Tony Martin, IMHO. Fuck Yeah! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 2:42, after such an intro from another dimension, pure fuckin' rock breaks into the scene and I have multiple headbanging eargasms. GLASS OF WATERRRRRRR PLEEEEEEASE!! Fuuuuuck Yeeeeeah!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Totally HFU (hooked the fuck up)!
As you walk alone the night surrounds you like a shroud The dreams you had were once of love and being proud Misty horizons block your vision of the world But the raven's eyes will show you all you need to know The land you loved is now so barren and so cold The name of God rings out so high in your soul This time is masters will lead us by the sword And should we fait them all prevails in Odin's court Leading us on, to the land of Eternity Riding the cold cold winds of Valhalla The Kingdom of Odin is the Kingdom of Gods Where only souls of the brave may rest in peace But someone among them had the skill of deceit And raised the hand that would open the road to Hell When the winds of Valhalla run cold Be sure that the blood will start to flow When the winds of Valhalla run cold Valhalla The ring has been broken and a soul must be saved Among the bravest of men, who rides to Hell The longships are sailing and the chariots ride And yes the anger of Thor will serve you well Raise your hands Reach and Valhalla will save your soul Raise your eyes And Odin will lead us on They say that history repeats itself Upon the year of the seventh Century Well nobody knows no you never can tell So you'd better run now and hide away
Essa música tem uma vibe meio mágica, me puxa e me deixa numa leveza. De repente me vejo gritando valhallaaa, com o refrão e vem uma energia boa. Isso pq nem estou usando dr0gas
Imagine walking the grounds of this war. To have these chills that this war created. Not many, if any can or will ever experience this. Not many men are alive now that were in this these wars.
Albums with Tony Martin was great, especualy this song, I burn guitar on those riffs, but this is other face of Black Sabbath...true Sabbath was with Ozzy...
