I'm with ya! I love all Original Sabbath! I get tired of people capping on TE & NSD! They're both Excellent freakin albums! Gonna get off subject here, but another thing I get tired of is that VH, blew away Sabbath on the NSD tour. All I can say is, not the night I saw. Was VH a great opener? Hell Yes they were! But the night belonged to Sabbath! It wasn't just a concert, it was an Experience, and just this Feeling that didn't leave me for a couple of weeks! 🤘

Finally! The first Sab box set worth getting. Steven Wilson remixes & the alternate versions. I’m buying the cd set. Cheaper that way. And btw. Big fan of this album. Tired of the negative reviews it gets. This is Sabbath growing as musicians. It’s different but still awesome as the stuff that came before it.

To be honest, this is really the only super deluxe box for Sabbath you need. The Sabotage super deluxe goodies were mostly live, the Paranoid one did not even have the cool alternative tracks from the 2016 2-CD reissue and Vol. 4 outtakes were mostly instrumentals and not complete alternate versions. With TE, you get the remaster and the remix (in my view superior) as well as third version of the album, which are stripped down outtakes. To be honest, if I re-assembled the album in order most of the versions I would include would either be from the Wilson remix or the outtakes, especially All Moving Parts. Let's hope Never Say Die gets a super deluxe release with remixes and alternate takes!

Not big TE fan, but I agree the remix has made me like this album more. Also really hope NSD gets a remix, love that one but it's always needed to have a beefier sound.

I don’t think they will, material they had on bs and master with deluxe edition. They are releasing ozzy ones in sequence so why would they go back. Not enough material from sbs for deluxe. That’s what I think.

Yes, I bought this album yet again. It is my 8th time for buying this album since 1977, and I will never buy it again. These box sets are starting to feel like nothing but cash grabs at this point, and this is the worst one yet. The remaster especially is pretty weak.

Seems to me that the box set's give you a history of Black Sabbath's journey through the years nothing wrong with that. I had posted this on (The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne | Full Documentary | Biography} this is part of my history as a fan of Black Sabbath. My Ozzy story, the first time I saw Black Sabbath in March 1st 1972 at ( Cumberland County Memorial Arena, Fayetteville, NC, United States Mar 1, 1972 Black Sabbath/Wild Turkey/Bang. My self and a couple of friends were at the front of the stage, when Sabbath were playing one of my friends was holding up a joint and Ozzy came over and took a number of hits and would skip away then he would keep coming back. Years later I used tell my son this story and he say dad tell my friend about Ozzy how he came over and would take some hits of the joint.

I’ve been listening to the podcast. Fantastic stuff guys. The detail and the way everything is presented is top-notch👍. It’s so great to hear people talk about what I think is a misunderstood band/genre of music so intelligently and articulately. Darin your storytelling about the incident with Brad and Ozzy is excellent, can picture everything and you keep me engaged all the way. Keep up the good work guys. I’ve been waiting for this! The review I mean:). I’m surprised it didn’t go on longer knowing your love for the album but probably long enough. It’s a great set. I’m pretty sure NSD is next. I created some controversy on the Steve Hoffman Forum by stating that I had read Toni Iommi saying there wasn’t enough material for the MOR Box set but I can’t find the article anywhere now. I’m hoping they will do the other ones but it just seems strange the order in which they’re doing them.

I have the CD box and it has the live album on just 1 CD. Not bothered about the remaster, the big draw for me , and I'm not disappointed, is the Steven Wilson remix which adds some oomph that most if not all previous remasters on CD have apparently never been able to do ( I have the 1996 castle that is ok but is slightly 'tinny' or over trebly sounding) and the live CD - the outakes are also good alternatives that I will play again from time to time as they are sufficiently different to the album versions as to almost make them a quasi live album - maybe a live in the studio type of album. My overall opinion is that this set makes a fantastic album (and my favourite of the Ozzy era) even better. I really hope they get or have got Steven Wilson to remix Never Say Die - and hold out hope though I doubt they'd do it, that they'll include the Never Say Die live DVD remixed and expanded - but as you say they always get close but just not quite there - any bets they'll use the audio from that as the live part of the NSD box though (presuming there will be an NSD box of course)? A problem with the CD set, is that all the content is reduced in size which means I need a magnifying glass to be able to read the tour programme - but that's just a minor gripe. Regarding the mp3 sourced live show I have no problem with it and it sounds better through my equipment than the Wav sourced bootleg of the show I've got - general consensus is that its Pittsburgh December 8th 1976 and comparisons I've made with my bootleg version would seem to bear that out - my bootleg version, though, has the tracks in what I presume is the proper running order - Symptom/Snowblind/All Moving Parts/ War Pigs/ Gypsy/ Black Sabbath/ Dirty Women/ Drum & Guitar solos / Electric Funeral/ Children of the Grave. The drum and guitar solo on the boot has Rock and Roll Doctor as part of it and is around 14 minutes long - so ten minutes more than on here, and they also do Iron Man between Electric Funeral and Children of the Grave. Not too bothered about not having an Iron Man but would have been nice to have had Rock and Roll Doctor being as that is on the album proper. Another quick note is that in the UK it was orifginally on Amazon for £99 so I went to get it form the US Amazon at £51 (around 63 US $)- on the day mine arrived Amazon UK had dropped their price to a 'promotional' £52.
@darinmccloskey9906
@darinmccloskey9906 3 года назад
Excellent Terry! Really appreciate your review! Yeah, I was thinking of all the boots I have from this era that it was most likely the Pittsburg, nice to have that confirmed.

I think "You Won't Change Me" is one of the best songs Sabbath ever done. When I first listened to it and heard how emotional Ozzy sounded, I was a bit shocked how such a song by such a popular singer could fly under the radar like it has. I definitely classify TE and NSD together, and know how it's a band on the verge of breaking up, but there are still some gems on those albums. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater because you're not fond of half of them. If you put the best songs on TE and NSD on one album, that would be a really great record. That would be cool if you and Daren in the future could make an album out of those two. Trim the fat off the less than stellar tracks and put the good ones together. I think that'd be interesting and I'm surprised I never did it myself considering how I loved to make my own albums back in the day.

enjoyed the review guys - but not something ill be buying - i dont like remastering/remixing of old records - its takes from the original character of the records - the flaws are fine by me - its part of the sound - some crackly old nems vinyl is the way it should be heard lol - i love technical ecstacy by the way - seriously underrated - some seriously good playing on it - yeah the production lacks some oomph - but they were all going for that late 70s weakish new wave sound

The NEMS versions are pretty bad (other than the '75 Sabotage)...especially the 80's pressings. At least go with a OG US WB pressing as far as hearing the album in a more competent pressing format. That said, I agree with the OG master/mix being superior. I don't prefer the new "version" over the old it's just cool hearing it and if you love this album to the extent that you can't get enough of it it's really cool to hear the remix.
