Hello, I have an iPod Classic that I bought from a flea market. The device turns on and, at first glance, there doesn’t seem to be any issues. It charges, plays the pre-installed games (I can hear the music from the games through headphones), and the sound works. My computer is old and has low specifications; it's a Windows-based laptop. I wanted to download iTunes to add music to my iPod, but unfortunately, whenever I connect the iPod to my computer (something starts downloading to open the application, and then it suddenly stops), the application stops responding. No matter how hard I try, this keeps happening. I tried 2-3 different applications, but the result is the same. What can I do?

I never really ventured too far out of the big four and next small group (Death Angel, Exodus, Testament, Metal Church, etc.) of Thrash, but I was close to the epicenter of the Bay Area of Cali., so it was a part of my listening enjoyment. Keep in mind, I've never owned Bonded By Blood or The Legacy nor the great majority of albums on y'all's lists, so my pool is smaller. 1.Testament-Practice What You Preach (with a bullet, in my opinion, the 2nd greatest thrash album ever, behind only Rust In Peace and Chuck Billy has the Greatest Thrash voice of all-time.) 2. Metal Church-The Dark 3. Exodus-Fabulous Disaster 4. Death Angel-Frolic Through The Park 5. Testament-The New Order

I really think judging by the 75 tour (asbury park) that’s all in c# so I find it weird that iommi would have tuned back up to standard for sabotage , if you’ve ever watched iommi play, he doesn’t really transpose, he just plays the songs the way he wrote them regardless of the tuning that the guitar is in (except for the wizard cuz of harmonica) therefore symptom of the universe is played in the G minor position but tuned down 3 semitones sounding like E, watch the 78 footage from the never say die tour
@LairoftheAlchemist
@LairoftheAlchemist 7 дней назад
I totally agree with you, I've pointed this out about Iommi tuning back to standard and I truly believe that's when Ozzy started to really damage his voice because he was sining stuff like "Symptom of the Universe" essentially 3 frets higher.

Your blues analogy isn't correct as Doom Metal also Doom and Stoner has all the swing, the riff you play at 4:43 could be any Doom Metal song, these generes of metal are the blues with fuzz pedals and thats definitely metal, Sabbath who are maaybe today considered borderline but who were the creators of metal were a blues band at 1st and continued to just do that with more gain. Stoner Doom has as little gain as hard rock at times and again can be basically just the blues. So there's no way you saying rock is more blues is correct. The other derivatives of metal became deliberately less bluesy with black metal attempting to reject all African American influences and attempt a more euro sound but that was metal rejecting the metal before it. The difference between rock and metal is the party the aesthetic and at 1st the volume which was on records later refelected by the amount of distortion and later pedals, mostly distortion and fuzz but its possible to be mostly the aesthetic. You're thinking of Death Metal and maybe some harder thrash which is just 1 space of many in the metal world (black also is very closr to death).
@LairoftheAlchemist
@LairoftheAlchemist 7 дней назад
Honestly I don't remember what I said in this video but I agree about stoner but I wasn't really talking about that, was thinking more Classic Metal or Thrash which, although there are blues elements in the soling is basically void of the blues in it's chord progressions or feels, think Iron Maiden, Accept or Megadeth. Of course there's always elements there to a certain degree. This was just a short video, I couldn't really dive into all the sub genres so I had to make some generalizations. The swing and blues element is what makes AC/DC a rock band for me and not a metal band...the lack of swing/blues in say Iron Maiden is what makes them a metal band for me.
@ushnicyuvnikof2748
@ushnicyuvnikof2748 7 дней назад
@LairoftheAlchemist Doom and it's sub genres including Stoner Doom are closer to classic metal imho as they are closer to Black Sabbath who came before the Thrash bands. They aren't the only ones with blues and swing you also hear it with bands like RATM and newer bands like Zeal and Ardor (who are black metal but incredibly bluesy), Danzig was very bluesy at times, lock up the wolves by Dio id say is basically blues. There are so many types of metal, it'd depend on your generation and county as to which you think is stereotypical metal, to me to Doom is metal - all other forms of metal are offshoots, the robotic playing of death metal pioneered by some of the more technical thrash bands who also abandoned the blues scale is just one of many offshoots imho and for me it doesn't fully represent metal. And I'd say Iron maiden are bluesy, obviously they have a song called Black Bart Blues, but they also use the pentatonic (minor) scale / blues scale a lot.

It’s not just nostalgia for youth, and I can say that because I’m in my 20s. I think one of the intriguing paradoxes of rock music, is that it is simultaneously, at once counter-cultural and the reigning pop culture. It’s cool to listen to the big bands that are universally recognized and acclaimed, those that topped charts, got airplay on radio and/or MTV, those that others recognize as the cool bands. As much as it is about rebellion, deep down part of it is also about connection and being into something our spiritual brothers and sisters can appreciate. If your tastes in music are your identity, if they reveal something about your personality and ideas, then we have to collectively as a society have a common understanding of what those tastes are, what those bands represent. Otherwise, proclaiming your love for a band nobody has ever heard of (by wearing their shirts and hanging their posters) would be somewhat fruitless. Nobody would know what that means. Of course, we don’t consciously care-we’re rebels. But I suspect sub-consciously there remains the human desire to run with the pack, to cherish the same bands others do. I say all this, because, we lack such a central figure that guides the public to the same names and groups. Radio is stuck in the past (and I don’t have an issue with that); MTV is tv without the music; and RU-vid/Spotify recommendations are poor substitutes, content to only show copycat bands that are such obvious clones of insert famous group here that they’re immediately forgettable and a dime a dozen, no matter how technically proficient they may be as musicians. It’s harder to discover new bands worth a damn when the old mechanisms don’t work anymore, and there’s too much mediocrity of low popularity to wade through in hopes of finding gems. Only the most hardcore enthusiasts are going to dig through bandcamp for nuggets of gold, if any even exist. Part of that too is a culture where lack of originality and overly faithful remakes are omnipresent. Music seems to be no different. You see genres of 80s NWOBHM, 80s Thrash, 70s Zeppelin types, etc. It’s all very generic and cliche. On the other hand you have groups that are very original, but their music is super niche and difficult to get into. They lack any hint of popular appeal, which again is not necessarily a good or bad thing, but it means they won’t be a household name. To want to listen to the next Iron Maiden, Blue Oyster Cult, Pantera, etc. it has to exist in that Goldilocks sweet spot of different enough to have a distinct, identifiable character all its own, yet popular enough to be capable of producing anthemic hits that would-be fans would want to sing along to and radio jockeys want to play. And after all that it still needs the right people in the industry to call attention to itself in order to make the band and music well known.

@legendmaker694

Funny how much you guys all seem to love 'Another Perfect Day'. I know it has its die-hard fans but it never clicked with me. I like "Shine" and the album is full of potential, but the songs are too repetitive and they overstay they welcome, even the best ones. It was probably a necessary step to accept the end of the classic era and get a completely different line-up with fresh energy and vibes, but the initial attempt to just replace Eddie with Robbo and move on took its toll. I love the era just before and the one right after, but APD not so much. Anyways, countdown style as you did: 10/ Killed by Death (84) 09/ America (82) 08/ Deaf Forever (86) 07/ Poison (79) 06/ The One to Sing the Blues (91) 05/ Rock 'n' Roll (87) 04/ Shoot You in the Back (80) 03/ Stay Clean (79) 02/ Stone Dead Forever (79) 01/ Built For Speed (86) These are the ones I come back to the most, but I love most of these albums. Especially 'Orgasmatron', 'Iron Fist', and the classic trilogy. Lemmy stubbornly calling this stuff "rock 'n' roll" is one of the most definitive proofs that not all artists understand music genres and evolution all that well and/or can distance themselves enough from their own works to see them correctly in the bigger picture. I mean, there's always a certain "lag" from one generation to the next, with early heavy metal bands often celebrating rock 'n' roll in their lyrics, as if they thought they were still a part of it, then later almost all the OG speed and power metal bands celebrating heavy metal in their lyrics, and so on. Precious few genres or movements have bands celebrating the correct name in their lyrics, at least not right from the first generation (thrash is the big exception to that, but then again they lifted the name from its punk counterpart right from the get go). But even in this context, the most influential speed metal band of all time calling itself not even just heavy metal or hard rock but outright "rock 'n' roll" has always been hilarious. Sure, there's a lot of rock 'n' roll influence, elements and certainly plenty of references to it in Motörhead's discography, but that's just as true of Priest or The Crown (of Thorns) for that matter! ^^ Doesn't make it any less distinct from Willie Dixon or Chuck Berry. Anyways, fun times. Thanks for the vid and keep up the fun work!

Motörhead was further along than the other bands you mentioned. The other bands hadn't released anything until 1979. I mean, if Lemmy says they weren't, what more do you need? Haha. >>ARE MOTORHEAD NWOBHM? NOT ACCORDING TO LEMMY? Motörhead were founded in 1975 by already experienced musicians. Their leader Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister was a former member of the space rock band Hawkwind, Larry Wallis had played with Pink Fairies, and Eddie Clarke had been a member of Curtis Knight's Zeus. Their previous experience is one element which divides critics and fans over whether the band belongs to the new wave of British heavy metal. Some believe that the band should be considered an inspiration for the movement, but not part of it, because they had signed recording contracts, toured the country, and had chart success before any NWOBHM band had stepped out of their local club scene. Motörhead were also the only metal band of the period recording songs with veteran BBC radio DJ John Peel for his Peel Sessions programme and the first to reach No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart with the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith in June 1981. Lemmy himself said, "the NWOBHM ... didn't do us much good", because Motörhead came along a bit too early for it". Other critics view Motörhead as the first significant exponent of the movement and the first band to fully implement a crossover between punk rock and heavy metal. Their fast music, the renunciation of technical virtuosity in favour of sheer loudness, and their uncompromising attitude were welcomed equally by punks and heavy metal fans. Motörhead were supported by many NWOBHM bands on tour, and they also shared the stage with Lemmy's friends' punk band The Damned. Motörhead's musical style became very popular during the NWOBHM, making them a fundamental reference for the nascent movement and for musicians of various metal subgenres in the following decades.<<

Funny this topic came up, I've been thinking about this and my favorite Venom songs a lot lately. I met Lemmy very briefly when Motorhead were opening for Sabbath in the 90's. It was backstage at the Wharfield in San Francisco, he didn't seem well so I kept conversation to a minimum. But just being around him you could feel so much rock and roll history. The guy exuded total coolness. Heres my top 10 of Motorhead classics: 10. Vibrator, 9. I'll Be Your Sister, 8. Lawman, 7. Metropolis, 6. Deaf Forever, 5. Road Crew, 4. Shoot You In The Back, 3. I’ll just say Iron Maiden began Christmas Day 1975 according to Steve. That’s too early to be NWOBHM according to a bunch of music historians saying you can’t call people NWOBHM before 77-78ish. Maiden the quintessential NWOBHM band. NWOBHM bands all had a big variance of sounds. A lot did not sound alike. My copy of welcome to hell by Venom says they’re NWOBHM…. If they can be included(I know earlier copies don’t, but the official CDs has it on it currently). Motörhead can definitely be included. They were working class, they had the look, and took heavy metal to the next level

@@darinmccloskey9906 yes that’s their first release… Steve said he began the band on Christmas 1975. Check out the history of Iron Maiden part 1. I understand it was a movement, but Iron Maiden did not begin in 1979. Maiden were already on their like 4th lineup by the time and playing many many gigs. Motörhead fits the DIY blue collar attitude, they had the look, and they got international notoriety at the same time as the other big NWOBHM bands. They fit into it too well for me to say they aren’t part of the movement. We will just have to disagree. We can say they are at least the progenitor of the movement.

I'm not a gatekeeper, and I'm not here to argue. I was asked if Motorhead were part of the NWOBHM and in my opinion, (...as well as Lemmy's according to statements he's made regarding the subject in the press) they were too early.
