@@waynestumbo2408 yeah they are the rhythm section nobody could touch. Geezer is also a great inspiration for anyone learning how to play bass. N.I.B was the first song I ever learned how to play on my first bass back in high school. El Bruce listen to any stinking metal band out there. Then ask yourself what the resemblance to Sabbath is. Metal sucks...Sabbath is genius, the comparison I really hate is when morons try to say that Zeppelin is early metal. I love rock and blues, metal is neither. As far as Sabbath is concerned, sorry not metal, unique yes, I consider them more progressive then anything. I have tried to listen to your metal. Just a bunch of angry morons, thinking they are making “music”. Screaming and power cords, sorry that just doesn’t cut it for me. Oh yeah Kiss sucks also! You kids know shit. Black Sabbath. The name says it all. The dark realities of the human condition covered in masterpiece after masterpiece. Bill Ward on Drums, Geezer Butler on Bass, Tony Iommi on Guitar, Ozzy Osbourne on Vocals. These are the pioneers of what is Heavy Metal. To understand what these four legends are all about, do a Reaction to the self-titled track. A piece about a nightmare. The masterpiece is called, and fittingly so, Black Sabbath. Enjoy.

@neils123
@neils123 4 года назад
That was an outstanding reaction, glad you enjoyed it! I just discovered your channel, and it's cool to see another reactor checking out classic rock & metal. I'll stick around and see where you decide to go. Since there's not a lot of comments here yet, I'll drop just a few facts about Black Sabbath, just in case you don't already know or may be interested. First off, the band (at this point in their history) consisted of: Ozzy Osbourne - vocals Tony Iommi - guitar Geezer Butler - bass Bill Ward - drums They formed in Birmingham, England, in the late 60s (I forget the exact year), and released their first album, the self-titled "Black Sabbath", in 1970. Most metalheads would consider that the birth of true heavy metal music. "War Pigs" is off their 2nd album, also released in 1970. One further note, much of their sound came about because of the fact that Tony Iommi accidentally cut off two of his fingertips in a factory accident, and wore prosthetic fingertips. Those were somewhat painful to play with, so he would "down-tune" his guitar - making the strings looser, but that had the side effect of creating a dark, aggressive, somewhat sludgy sound that helped set Black Sabbath apart from other rock bands of the day. The video is obviously not original, it's a fan-made video that, while well put together, really doesn't have anything to do with the song. I have to be honest, I was a bit worried you were going to focus on it too much and get distracted by it, but it was a good thing that you seemed to really be focused more on listening to the music rather than what was going on on-screen. Well done! As far as additional Black Sabbath that you should listen & react to, well, I'm sure you'll get a million suggestions, but my favorites are "Black Sabbath", "Paranoid", "Children of the Grave", "Snowblind", and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" from their time with Ozzy Osbourne. Later, in 1979, they parted ways with Ozzy (who went to have a very successful solo career) and brought in another phenomenal singer, Ronnie James Dio (also a heavy metal legend). Some great suggestions for some of their later work with him would be "Heaven and Hell", "Mob Rules", "Children of the Sea", or "The Sign of the Southern Cross". These are all my personal favorites, so I'm sure other people will disagree.

Yes, there is a second guitar line in "War Pigs" during the lead guitar solos all of which was written and performed by Tony Iommi, a left handed guitar player who overcame a physical disability as two of his fingertips were gravely injured in the 1960's and they were wrapped in bandages so he had to learn to get his other two fingers on his guitar fretting hand to do what the two wrapped fingers would have done. He had one guitar lesson and then learned from blues 78s as he is a jazz and blues influenced guitar player.

That siren you hear at the beginning still strikes fear into my mother; one of the many children evacuated from London during the blitz from the German Luftwaffe. She still recalls running from fighter planes strafing. The guys in Sabbath are too young to recall this, but are a product of that era and its outcome. A Britain propped up by money from America, without pride, still angry, and with defiance.

Walpurgis (Original Version Of War Pigs) Witches gather at black masses Bodies burning in red ashes On the hill the church in ruin. Is the scene of evil doings It's a place for all bad sinners Watch them eating dead rats' innards. I guess it's the same, where ever you may go Oh lord yeah Carry banners which denounce the lord See me rocking in my grave See them anoint my head with dead rat's blood See them stick the stake through me Oh Don't hold me back cause I just gotta go They've got a hold of my soul now Lords got my brain instinct with blood obscene Look in my eyes I'm there enough Yeah On the scene a priest appears Sinners falling at his knees Satan sends out funeral pyre Casts the priest into the fire It's the place for all bad sinners. it's a song about the vietnam war, but some of the imagery here is from WW2. this video was made much later, by someone not affiliated with black sabbath, and they seem to have interpreted the song through a wider lens than just one war --- which is good, because it shows that the original lyrics can have a broader meaning, and not just be locked into one context.

When I was a boy about 9 or 10 I was playing Black Sabbath records backwards trying to hear the devil. it never worked. People will tell lies to children because of their own fears. Your a rock star! 🤘🤘🤘

Black Sabbath's drummer started out as a jazz drummer. Try "Snowblind and Fairies Wear Boots" by Black Sabbath.

All three instrumentalists are GOATS of their craft. Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward are some of the greatest musicians...then throw in the crazy of Ozzy and you have the greatest band of all time

That's fair not hearing them till now if you had noone to expose you to it. I know the feeling, grew up around country listeners and didn't hear Sabbath till high school. Also Sabbath are one of the godfathers of creating metal music.

I don't always listen to Black Sabbath, but when I do, so do my neighbors... Good ear on the guitars- yes, the lead guitar is doubled in some parts. Tony Iommi would often combine two solos.

The way your face scrunches up and your head starts bobbing when you're really into a song is everything.
