-- 2022 version: www.amazon.com/dp/B09XGXRVXC/...
- Takstar Amp/MP3 Player: www.amazon.com/dp/B09DYK6G2P/...
NOTE: to avoid much of the work I had to do I recommend getting a lower profile amp than that Tacstar.
If you can get your hands on a Moukey Va-1 they are as minimal as you can get - but there’s a global shortage so you may have to buy from the UK or India.
- Breadboard/button kit: www.amazon.com/dp/B07QC5X21L/...
Tools used:
. I unscrewed the jaw portion to get access there. Then I used a pliers to break out intrusive plastic portions and used a Dremel with a grinder to clean those up. I drilled out the holes on the side for the buttons.
To put the wires through the face part I just unscrewed near the sides and ran the wires up the inside edge of the face. At the top of the upper half I unscrewed the area holding the speaker and might have used pliers and Dremel again to fit the speaker in.
For the electronics - a soldering iron, IRWIN VISE-GRIP Wire Stripper, wire cutters.
I think that’s it…

I may soon be open to doing custom/commission work. It’s dependent upon my bulk order of low profile amps arriving. It uses a much smaller amp board that will be put in just under the Vader jawline so the buttons will all be accessible just inside your neck/jawline without having to remote them like in version 1. It will also NOT tap into the existing speaker, instead it will either have just the speaker at the top of the dome, or it might also have a low profile one inside the jaw half as well. In the next few weeks I’ll release a new video with whatever design I finally opt to do. You can also check out my Mandalorian black series install to see how I installed this low profile amp in that, to understand the size and button layout - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yPGlVtBoNYg.htmlsi=DCLnQqrpvJUoydzU If that style installed for control inside the mask’s neck/jaw area is of interest- let me know, perhaps we can work something out.

The version two of my Darth Vader amp mod I just dropped today as a Short - this one is much much easier to do than that version one I did last year. I’ll drop the how to video for version two Darth Vader black series amp install in a couple weeks.

The positive/negative magnetic connection from the breathing apparatus to the top is brilliant. Saving vid this vid for my next project!

Cheers best of luck. I’d like to hear how it works out. I’d recommend using a smaller amplifier than I used in this model. That was my first time opening an amp and it is definitely the largest amp I’ve ever used - increasing the complexity and length of build time. If you take a glance at some of my other videos - I found a very small amp that works well with masks and I’d use that instead. Now that I have the newest, black series Vader helmet, I’m looking to redo this project on that one, a bit more efficiently. I just need to find the time. Anyway, glad to hear it helped. Good luck in your build Dude and take care.

I’m working on my 2022 black series Vader now - it’ll be much more efficient that the previous. Hopefully I’ll have the video out in the next few weeks. FYI

Great video.... Can't say I didn't find it super complicated but it certainly inspires me to change the "voice changer" on my black series stormtrooper helmet! I'm sure you're aware, it's awful lol. Thank you for this 👍

Cheers! FYI - I recommend using a different amp I've found since building that - it has a much smaller footprint - amzn.to/3AbVhmB If interested in the video describing it it's here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N8pYezaKldo.html

I felt that way first, however, I knew I wanted to wear it but I also knew I wanted people to be able to hear me - so I caved in. once I did I went all out. while it was a lot of work, I’m glad I did it. Doing that one mod is what put me on the path to doing all these other helmet mods on this channel. No regrets here.

Breadboard kit has the blank circuit boards and buttons included. amzn.to/3KoxOTK Mic & Audio Amp - use this one instead - much easier to work with - amzn.to/3AbVhmB -- This amp has a much smaller circuit board, and should be easier to integrate. See the video where I show and describe it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N8pYezaKldo.html (the Tacstar amp I used in the video was huge, wrapping around the speaker - and while it worked out in the end - it was challenging to fit it in well.)

It's impossible to improve on Vader's Black Series helmet, an ugly and completely failed toy and too expensive for its lack of quality. The only way to get better is to replace it, either with the Rubies supreme, if you have a small budget, or with an accurate helmet. The Rubies supreme can be improved by changing the lenses and re-sculpting the mask and dome a little and repainting it. The result will be much, much better.

I’d agree that the screen accuracy is a failure, however the ‘quality’ of the masks materials is good. I have a Rubies Supreme helmet I might redo…time permitting. That one was super easy to do an amp install in: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VEt5GZX-QSw.htmlsi=fTq8YuBSXtcJJv8Y

@@creative-stuff, since my message has been deleted, I'll do it again. When I say lack of quality, I obviously mean lack of design quality. That's the most important thing when you want a Vader helmet, you want it to look as close as possible to what Vader is. What's the point of good materials if not for that? It's useless and a waste of money. It's like your upgrades on the Rubies Supreme, you can add as many sound systems as you like, but if the appearance of your Rubies helmet isn't improved, you'll always get a bad result. You can find out how to improve this helmet on sites like therpf. The first thing to do is to remove the lenses and replace them, installing them from the inside. You don't need to buy any, you can form transparent plastic with a heat gun and glue on a smoked film (you will install them after repainting the mask). You'll need to modify the dome's positioning system, and slightly resculpt the nose and dome's central band with putty or filler. This alone will transform and enhance the helmet. Of course, you'll have to use primer, sanding and repainting, but the result will be a hundred times better. When you see an upgraded Rubies Supreme, you can see that it's light years ahead of what the Black Series looks like.

@@philippealain6172 ahh right on. Yea, I have seen that info on fixing the Rubies Supreme and have that idea tabled for a future action - the only other thing I remember offhand is adjusting the mouth area too. Fortunately it is now further delayed because I just got my new EFX release of “A New Hope” Vader today, so it negates the need for me to mod my Supreme until I just have nothing better to do. My Supreme is old and needs a full overhaul. Did you do the Supreme mod on yours? Oh btw - EFX started their Vader rerelease a month or so ago and we’re still in stock a week ago for $350 on multiple sites but I picked mine up on Sideshow - yep just checked - still in stock- www.sideshow.com/collectibles/star-wars-darth-vader-helmet-efx-902917#
