Not sure how Metric managed it, but huge props to them. I can't imagine the uneasy feeling while performing on stage in front of a crowd of lifeless corpses staring with those lifeless eyes.
I was at this show, and it was amazing - but no one in the audience knew they were going to be there until about 20 minutes before. It was the San Diego Comic-Con 2010. Everyone was at a lecture in hall H, and most of them had been there all day. A bag of buttons was passed around for people to pick from (with no idea why they were picking them). Anyone with a "1 Up" button got to see a free advanced screening of Scott Pilgrim, and Metric just happened to be there...
I hung out with these coke heads once or twice (so lame & boring I can't remember if it was 1 or 2 times). They were the same as EVERYTHING else in their plastic industry. Bobbleheads, cardboard cutouts, satanic androids, zombies- take your pick.
Smacky Brown y’all really be thinking nerds just aren’t fucking anybody like the whole weekend isn’t basically just getting turnt and hopping from hotel party to hotel party. That being said, this crowd is dead as fuck.
BanditRev0lver Dude this is funny on so many levels. This is actually claiming to be live, but obviously the recording isn't. And when Neil made that comment in the movie, it was funny, because we were watching a not-really-live performance, too. Sorry if all of this is obvious to everyone reading.
Being seated on a concert is shit... They played one song, you can't make a crowd move in one song, it sometimes takes a full concert to do so, and you can't judge people on their will to "get up" or not, it seems like a terrible setup, the worse gigs i've been were seated, i never want to go at a seated gig ever again, like last time people sitting LITERALLY ASKED to people standing to seat down cause they were blocking the view... DUDE IT WAS A METAL CONCERT !! Fuck me xD
DanVanDam I'd never heard of metric before the movie, but that doesnt mean I can't learn to appreciate a new band. In fact, following the enjoyment of Black Sheep, repeated listening, and subsequent research I have become a metric fan.
kaovalin Ok, within my statement *when* did I say NO ONE could appreciate the band? No where? That is correct. Soo I did not bother to read past "new band." Because that is about how much you read into my statement. Instantly assuming I even referred to some sort of elitism about the band. Bravo.
+Craig Campbell they're playing at comic con. its not a concert where they played a bunch of songs and everyone jumps up and down. i think they played that song while people were waiting for something
10 years too late but I was the bald guy in the front row of this premier. The reason I didn't get up and dance was because due to some hotel policy, I ended up carrying my laptop all day + all the stuff I bought including a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker figure of Snake ( it was the only way I could get a ticket for a Kojima autograph session) and I had just ran the whole way from the convention center to the theater dogging a freight train in the process. Needless to say I was super tried and it was the first chance of the day I had to sit down. Despite all that, it was awesome and one of the best SDCC I ever had.
Well, then you get a pass. Well done for being there and I'm jelly. Matter of fact you suck for being there and me not. HOW DARE YOU, no I'm kidding. Rock on both you and Metric
+Neil Youkhana (syntexsis) You're one yourself, first off we didn't know because there is flashing lights on the scenes showing the audience, second off I've never been to nor went to any type of concerts like these which in my life I've never actually went to a concert with my friends (sad life), third off (coming back from the first part of the list) we could barley see anything in this video but the band themselves.
J Arcaina Hi there, I think Neil is just trying to justify that the audience weren't being rude or awkward since they were seated meaning they were limited to show their support. Although, fair enough they could just stand up and root for the band but then that's just going to create another problem which no point going over. Yes, there are concerts where people stand up instead of seating down and then there are concerts where people on the balcony were seated while people closer to the stage were standing. But I digest, I guess it was uncalled for when he labelled the RU-vidr as "generic" or whatever but he does have a point that people tends to comment without thinking or asking themselves why. Anyway, I recommend that you should go to concert, it's fun watching your favourite band playing live. Have a good day!
Agreed. I already loved them before I bought Muse tickets and found out they were the opener, it was one of the few times I was sad the opening act didn't play longer.
Hello again, friend of a friend, I knew you when Our common goal was waiting for the world to end Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick the past again Send you my love on a wire Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooh, pulls away, ooh From you Got balls of steel, got an automobile, for a minimum wage Got real estate, I'm buying it all up in outer space Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick, the past again Send you my love on a wire Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooh, pulls away, ooh It's a mechanical bull, the number one You'll take a ride from anyone Everyone wants a ride, pulls away, ooh, from you
Late comment but we watched Scott Pilgrim (first time for me) about a month ago and been basically addicted to Metric ever since. I've liked some songs from them in the past, but I like almost everything they have done now!
just noticed actually, this is main reason I feel uneasy every time I get to watch a live concert.. Just feels so bad when the band gives it all and there is little to no response from the crowd.
But Dey jus standing there but that might just be the rules this is a big event it’s comic con so I can see you not really being able to knock around with other people..or maybe not i wasnt there but hell either way I couldn’t help dancing this band is too good
saw them with Smashing Pumpkins last year and I got front row tickets, I heard this song start up and she was standing 7, 10 feet away and I yelled " He punched the highlights out of her hair!" and she looked at me and laughed
The audience is just stunned by the music quality of the band.. don't blame them for not being able to move, most people would just fall dead because they forgot to breath.
Какие же вы офигенные! Трек просто сносит крышу!!! Эмили украла моё сердце, какой у неё голос, о боже, не оторваться! А толпа на заднем фоне - полуфабрикаты.
ugh this mindfucked me, i thought the movie version was just a live version of this one, like I thought they were the same singer. I listen to this version on apple music and then Brie's on youtube I adore both
I have been to some of Metric's shows and I am always surprised how much of a Trance the audience is in. I love the music but I am probably the only one who is moving my body. Don't get me wrong, there were people who were rocking with the music but most of the ones in the back usually are standing around like statues. It is really perplexing. Maybe its just the type of audience they dont move around as much. Seeing this video brings back memories.
