I just got my tank about three weeks ago, I got it from a lady used with fish included. Didn’t know what I was getting myself into! There was one black skirt and six neon tetras. I knew something was off about the fish, the tetra (now named kuzko) was hiding in the corner and just looked sad. She gave them to me in a ten gallon and the ammonia was at a 7. I completely got them a new tank (20gal) and moved them over into good water and got him three other black skirt buddies (will be getting a few more in a couple weeks). Since then they are the best of friends and everyone is so happy!!! They love their new, clean home and I’m so happy to see Kuzko take to the others so well and so fast! (As soon as I opened the bag they all schooled together) Anywho, wanted to say videos like this really helped me on my journey and I’m so excited to see my fish happy.
Can I put 6 in a 29 gal? All I'm trying to do is keep my Plecco happy. And it's not because it's in a small tank and it's 15+ years old about 12". She/he had a gourami mate but when they died the Plecco kept jumping tank. I bought 4 black skirt tetras and now the Plecco isn't jumping out. But the four tetras are picking at each other? They're only 2 days with me so far, but should I grab two more soon, to acclimate them together? Or should I leave it at 4 black skirts because I don't see a larger tank in my near future. I only want to make my Plecco happier and no one wants to adopt around here. If I could I would just get a bigger tqnk. But Plecco seems happier with these small mates. Should I leave it at four even with them pecking at each other? Or get two more for a school? Might that make them more angry bitey or more calm and confident?
Newbie here that's "succeeded" w/ guppies and now want to get into glo Tetras. Figured they're basically the same fish and would have similar requirements. thx!
I have a 20 gallon tank that I have one black skirt and two patties. I would like to put driftwood in it and wanted to know if that was safe or if it will lower the pH too much also, how many black skirts and plates can I have in my tank? you were totally informative and entertaining. When I feed my bst they don’t attack the food like yours did. They just watch thee food float down so I’m constantly cleaning the tank. Which also means I have to add a ton of food so they actually catch something Ny to eat. I do this twice a day just to be sure. I only have 3 bst in 5 gallon tank. I always place the food in the same place and same time to hopefully get them to eat but sometimes they just don’t. And they are. Not bottom feeders! 😭 I don’t want them to die! (Yes I want a bigger tank but im learning to try and keep it clean first. But with all the food that falls it’s a pain. I also want to aadd more plants but with all the food waste it would be a nightmare to clean every other day. I already clean it every week with a sponge in a stick and completely empty out the tank every month. I have a 20 gal tank but idk how to keep up with 5 imagine 20. What can I do? Help please.

I just added 5 black skirts to my 55 gallon that has 6 neon tetras and 1 Siamese algae eater and 1 occipital fish. How many more fish could I reasonably add to the tank? It is a FF type tank. This is my first tank ever. I started a little late since I'm soon to be 70. Thanks for making these videos to school me on this hobby 😊
I love them too. I think I have a female that is ready to pop how do I know if she is pregnant and when the action will happen are they live bearers or egg layers?
My mom just got them the other day and now the fishes just sit there always at the same spot at the bottom I try to get them to eat but not interested in eating we only have three of them sometime help me sooner
I noticed mine do that if the light is on or too bright, I’ve gotten a light dimmer. You may also need to get them some more friends because they like to be in groups.
Hey, I got 6 Tetras for a month now and literally they stay at the same spot every day (like they have their own territory) . When someone tries to swim to another location the other fish push him back. It is soooo annoying...There has to be something very wrong.
@@tiaratr2602 I was told that they need to be in a min of 29 gallon tank, PLENTY of space because they do become territorial. Mine are starting to get territorial as well😭 I have 7 in a 20 gallon. They swim all around the tank but they definitely chase after each other.
