This one is an older video, one of a few that got misplaced when I was sorting through the recordings. It was done with the phone that had the dead spot in the camera before I discovered the dead spot of deadness in the picture. Ahhh the memories.
This is a back stone of unknown type, so we shall call it ''black-ite'' for now, but it does have some shiny mica looking thingeys throughout that makes for a great looking cab when it's all done.
Thanks for watching!!

It sort of does...though it is WAY softer than diamond. I wouldn't mind have a few pounds of this stuff though...that's for sure. Thanks for watching!

What's an undercut?
@sandandshoreshoppe
@sandandshoreshoppe 2 года назад
Basically an undercut is a dent or gouge on the surface of the finished stone. A lot of stones, like this one here, are made up of different types of minerals, and each one has a different hardness. So when you grind away at the stone the softer materials get cut away faster than the harder stuff. That causes the surface to have little dents in it...those are the undercuts. Sometimes you can have three or more different hardness's of materials and it makes you want to pull your hair out because you keep polishing the thing and wonder why it still looks like a satin finish so you look at the thing under magnification and the stone looks like a mutated golf ball with four different depths of dents in it. GAWD! So with that long winded explanation, an undercut is a dent in the stone caused by different material grinding away faster because of its hardness. Thank you for asking questions, and if you have any others please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching too.

I been watching lots of gemstone videos and holly crap. There’s like a million. They go by hardness the way they fracture and all kinds of other crap. I’m still trying to find out what I have found.

@@Algoldprospecting It really is a giant rabbit hole trying to identify a piece like this..especially when it is comprised of what looks like multiple materials. I think Ill just call it ''blackNshiny-ite''
