In this street photography (Monochrome Black & White) video I am reviewing some of the photos that I have taken using my Canon camera on the streets of London. I love Alan Schaller, Fan Ho's style of street photography and I take much inspiration from these types of photographers.

We are looking for the contrast between light and dark and capturing subjects as they interact with the light and shadow.
I share my photography tips, what I am looking out for and my camera settings.
I love this style of photography, Alan Schaller has taken some wonderful pictures strolling around the streets of London.

glad i found your channel, you are a great teacher and i love the explanations you have. i was fortunate enough to travel the UK and Europe on a tour while young and I could not help myself taking random pictures of the Welsh or Bavarian countryside. the cities too were especially so different than i am used to in America. i have recently gotten into urban photography in detroit/michigan, while using the black and white aspect. my question for you is do feel people appreciate it as more as color? i am looking to enter some contests and wonder how they would hold up. thank you

Thank you for your comment, it's much appreciated. Black & white photography is completely different to colour. For example, someone in a bright red jacket would really standout in colour where as in b&w they are just another shade of grey. I am planning to do a video to explain the difference between the two as there are many other differences. Make sure that you join the Facebook group.

im pretty new to photography and wondering how you archieve that effect of very dark darks while the brighter colors are not blown out.. what kind of setting would that be?

First video I've seen from your channel. Happily subscribed. Keep up the good work. Are you using spot metering for these shots to capture that contrast or is it done in Post?

Very interested in this but there appears to be background radio, music or commentary associated with it which I find very distracting. Maybe it's just my computer picking up stray sounds!

Hi David, the background voice is the original video of me taking whilst taking the pictures. I've timed it down but you might still be able to hear it slightly
