My ex gf told me growing up she lived with her great grandmother and great aunt. She said that her aunts son (her cousin) was basically a criminal who gang banged and sold drugs. Whenever it’s looked like I was going to be between jobs I reach out to other BM. They will take my resume and send me job links. Meanwhile the BW I know do nothing but say “hang in there and I will pray for you”

I don't know what to say but this is what I suspected in the 90s and early 2000s. BW wouldn't even speak to me regarding their jobs or how they got them. I figured this out early after doing research at an early age to see why this was. Once I saw this happening I went into fields and jobs where no BW were or interested in competing. I got lucky and thrived but it explained so much. No wonder BW are so indifferent then and even more so now. It seems Black Relationships are just intercence warfare.

I'm a right winger, well more specifically, I'm a monarchist. I can concede that human beings are tribal. Racism is a type of that tribalism. Nationalism is another strain of this human behavior. This is why I tend to lean more towards black self sufficiency, and ownership, as opposed to leaning on white neo-liberals. I'm not against leaning left or right, to get what works for black people as a whole. I don't agree with caping for liberals or conservatives because that leaves one dependent.
The problem with race is that it's so inexact. It's largely political, personal and subjective. We want to believe that it's objective, but it's always been in a precarious position due to its social construction. I would prefer to be tribal on intelligence, yet fear and scarcity often force people to move toward their easily identifiable characteristics.

But from my experience 16 years in corporate environments , 8 different business sectors , 40 years on this earth, 3 spent in prison , 7 given to the streets.... the problem is lack of access to education ABOUT HOW to get into a business sector. I see black folk come out of college - no resume - havent done any side work in their craft - no internship attempted - refuse to go door to door and get rejected 300 times to get 1 yes - have horrible attitudes about failure....then blame it on racism. Mind you, i work with co-workers who face the exact level of rejection, indian, white, jewish, russian..... the reason i have spent 3 years and prison but have 16 years in corporate environments straight is because i dont take no for an answer. i was in a corporate job while i was in a half way house. If your thesis was correct and money and resources was the answer. the black community would be healed by sheer resources put behind women alone. This is a attitude problem.

I’m the employment sphere, I notice they hire a lot of black men for physical, dumbed down work, even though these men are well overqualified, most with degrees. Warehouse work, Plant work, Lamdscaping, etc. In my opion, the solution is for BM to gain the skills needed for the global market place and get tf out. We will always be viewed as 3/5 of a man here anyway.

Since the single mother rate is about 70% women are forced to work, perhaps two or more jobs. 4.27 million in fact so it stands to reason that a woman with two or more children with no father in the home would probably be out there grinding. Also as BGS duly noted, there are about 1.2 million black men in prison right now. So even though this article is informative its a "bit" skewed.

It’s great that you’re including the data! Of Boys and Men by Richard V Reeves breaks this down even more. Although this is issue for all US men, black men are affected the worst. The solution is not blaming women, but putting the same pressure on your local politicians to create more programs for the young men as well.
Sounds like a useful book to read. What was his analysis of the main causes for this issue with young men and boys? Did he focus at all on the influence of the mother more…or the father?
@@patriciacoley3801 He looks mainly at the institutional causes of why men aren’t attending school and getting paid as much. Including how the end of industrial era affected jobs, and how women are in a lot more jobs like teaching. He also does touch on how institutional policies did affect families as well. It doesn’t blame women and women’s rights but brings light to needs of boys and men’s needs that are being overlooked or ignored.
