Most movies show that kungfu always beat karate, and other martial art. since bruce Lee era till nowadays. Im still waiting movie about kungfu get beaten back... But still

The sad irony about karate is that its massive popularity is what ultimately led to its diminished reputation in the mainstream sense. Most people think of cheesy movies and strip mall McDojos. The best karate schools had students beating the living shit out of each other. Those guys were conditioned and tough.

@@GokuInfintysaiyan They had some (although yeah, they could have been some more). Right here in this fight is a scissor takedown. In the final fight they are some sweeps and some reversal/mount escape on the ground. Also some throws, for example when Taycan fought against the guy with the knife.

And surprisingly, the karate-ka on black gi show us hisa ability of offence to the maximum. Not like other movies where the "bad guy" is showed weak to make the character that supposed to beat them in the bright spot. Here, it's more like both are fighters with good ability, but one is hot headed while the other is calm

I've trained with kyokushin students. They're nothing to be laughed at. I got nicely bruised up, so much so that it hurt to laugh lol

Dude they didnt do single segment fight scene that lasted more than 5 seconds. Yeah it has karate in it and respect to that, but they were basically doing one move compliance drills.

@@akstv5803 no it wasn't, it was good by virtue of the practitioners being good. Choreographers job is to take whats good and make it better, he took what was good and cut it into pieces. The only way I'd say the Choreograph was good is if the people playing as the karate practitioners weren't actually karate practitioners and just actors/dancers trying to imitate karate.

Michael Stythax it looked very realistic ,when two concious people brawl they don't go hitting the other ,they make a move and then retreat observe then again strike ,the fight scene showed this that they had skills and know how to fight ,it was impressive:)

I don't know The Warriors from 1979 were pretty realistic too!

His master's final instructions were so poor, they basically drove the entire movie based on the misunderstanding he created.

That is not a reverse roundhouse crescent kick. Actually it's a front hook kick. The reason it looks like that is because he use the back leg and the impact is with the heel on the back of the head.

No! These guys are actual karate masters, not actors with white belt level karate and an occasional capoiera move thrown in. They outta hire the guy who choreographed these fight scene to do Cobra Kai instead of the guy who's doing it right now.

Well at least he understands the fighting aspect better than most karate practitioners today. Because of the overemphasis of the traditional and Sport aspects of modern karate most of them can't even fight their way through a paper bag.

@Mister Guy Watch the movie, and you will see that taikan understand only at the end. He fight for bad reason, and very aggressively (that not what karate taught). The other protagonist didn't understand until the end too. This is the whole purpose of this movie to teach what is karate. Oh! And budo is a philosophical thing. If you think fight is the only important thing in budo, you are nothing more than a puppet. And this is what taikan is, by the way, at this moment. If you talk with some military people, you will find that a lot of them believe they didn't do the right choice at several time. Follow order without any deep thinking, and you will fail to understand budo. :)

And fighters "flying". I`d rather see movies like BlackBelt, too. I am a shotokan practioner in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Mas oyama went to thailand in 1964 when muay thai challenged the world. Only few styles accepted as muay wasn't known that time. Oyama took 3 of his students and a goju kai student with him. One of his student and the goju kai lost but. In an overall muay thai rule match kyokushin won with 2-1 out of 3 matches. Though they used judo for the clinch but they beat muay thai. The 3rd kyokushin fighter who lost wenton to discover k1. So yeah they won. Also kyokushin fighters many time destroyed muay thai fighters in k1.

Well, Taikan did that to provoke Togo and to make him lose his calmness. And it worked.

It would be dark alright, cuz you'd be knocked out cold.
