Today we are taking on this property where the blackberries just went wild. About 1/6th of this property was overgrown with blackberry bramble and the new owner needed it gone as it was hindering all of his plans.
With our new Stihl FS-561C clearing saw we were able to make absolute light work of all of this mess. The machine is a huge upgrade from the Stihl FS-460 and it really shows. We were able to slice through the blackberries more efficiently and were able to clear a lot more on a single tank of fuel.

@@g-mc4507 It all depends how the brush cutter sits on your narness. If it's balanced then you can hardly feel the weight of the machine.

Was just thinking about the root system, maybe with some suck the thick layer of wood and leaves he's mulched up will stop new shoots from reaching the top just long enough that it all dies

Personally, I would tackle that with a 5ft topper on a small tractor. Nice quiet job done sitting down with no need for ear defenders. Second choice would be a BCS740 with a flail on the front.

This is definitely the movements and coverage patterns of a man who has only done this 20 or so hours x’D easy sweepin man, wiiide open. Also pls walk the property before goin ham. Crucial in high grass and espcially crucial in high brush

Great job, the yard got a complete tranformation! I got to use my dads clearing saw last spring, can’t recall the name right now but it looked quite similar to the one you used here. I went over my parents yard with it over a couple days and it honestly felt like therapy. Got a couple blisters and scratches, but it felt so satisfying and rewarding to just Watch it plow through thorn bushes and Weeds like nothing. Not to mention the transformation. Now the grass, clovers and flowers have been allowed to grow and attract bees and all kinds of life to make for a nice garden:) That probably goes for this one too

Omg! How powerful this machine is. Really well made video. I own the FS-460 which is perfect for heavy duty grass trimming. But it would probably struggle with this type of Apocalypse ;-)

The total project area was about 10,000sqft and it took me about 8 hours to mulch everything.

Have you compared this method to a walk-behind brush cutter like the Billy Goat? I picked up a used Ferris brush cutter for my property and now plan to sell it for a setup like yours, mainly because my land is mostly hilly and with granite boulders everywhere -- turns out the walk-behind is tough or impossible to navigate in most of the places I want to use it. But for clearing out flat land or a yard like this, I'm genuinely curious which would be more effective/efficient. Any thoughts?

I've done jobs just like this and bigger years ago in the UK. Used what we call a flail mower alongside a Stihl brush cutter. I would generally use the brush cutter as little as possible, just to locate problem areas or when the stuff gets over chest height. Rest of the time I found the mower is the best tool for the job.

Did u know u have to tap gass... and powering through when under load in sot good for the machine aswel. Work with rp that it gives u... spin it up and then put it in harder stuff. That is why 460 is beter... cuz it has couple thousand more rpms

you got to be in the pnw. i lived there from 2015 to 2023 because i was bored. i see that stuff everywhere and had to remove some of it with temp jobs. it is worse than a thistle or sticker burrs.

Блин, триммером ты пользуешься плохо. Движения неверные и постоянно перегазовываешь - обороты можно держать ровно. Твои вот эти движения вверх-вниз вообще ничего не дали, ты мог спокойно просто скосить всё и перемолоть всё обратным ходом. Тоже занимаюсь подобными работами уже больше 10 лет

Есть причины почему я так кошу. В первом деле на этом участке куча мусора в ежевике. Если нож один раз хорошо ударить вот уже минус 30$. Я кошу так потому-что оно ломает ветки и я могу видеть что там дальше есть. Я не работаю на полных оборотах потому-что обычно нож что-то ударил и весь триммер дрожит когда на полных оборотах. Я этим тоже занимаюсь более 5 лет, знаю что делаю, и есть причина всему.

They waited years for it to get this bad. 10 goats would have wiped that out in 2 months. If you leave them in the area after 2 years the blackberry would be gone. They will eat the dead brown canes and any new shoots. Would have made a better video?
