Im actually liking this device more and more. I plan on getting one. My first smartphone was a bold 9930. Not only does the nostalgia play a factor, but this looks to be a pretty well rounded device.

This is easily the best camera in any Blackberry device. I'm actually quite surprised at how good it is. Was expecting decent performance, but it ended up pulling off some great shots, even in low-light.

Indeed. Blackberry has come a long way. I remembered watching your Passport R.C.R. and your disappointment with it. Then, you reviewed the Priv and remarked just how much better it is. Looks like the KEYone is packing much more than a usable camera. It's actually an upper-tier performer. If I had to put it in tiers, where Tier 1 belongs to top-tier shooters like the Pixel, V20, iPhone 7 and S8, Tier 2 being the OP3T, and Axon and Tier 3 being the budget phone shooters, I would actually place it right in the upper middle part of Tier 2. That's pretty damn good, considering the other great options in that mid-tier.

The day time 4K shots were amazing! This thing is punching wayy above its class. All while looking like a classic Blackberry. Also, it seriously bums me that this thing can shoot 1080p/60fps with a midrange processor and my Nexus 6P can't.

The nexus simply doesn't have the option for it in the software. Also recording 4k is harder than 1080p/60

Péter Friedrich Yeah, the option isn't there, but if someone wants to fix that, they can. I did something similar for my LG G4. It requires root though.

I think that'll be a nice little upgrade. That battery life though. Ran the phone as MY daily for 60 hours before getting the low battery warning. Enjoy!

I have had a Key1 for 3 years now and expanded the memory to a 256G MicroSD. I love this phone and I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by the capability of the camera. I have shot 3 years of photos and videos that I still have on my phone. I bought a Gimbal for the phone this year. I did forget to mention that last year I had no Internet in Southern B.C. and it was playoffs, so I was surfing the Internet while streaming NHL playoffs to my 60inch TV through my Blackberry. It was VERY expensive way to watch hockey via my wireless provider. I remember thinking at the time, this has to be the very outside limits of this phones' capabilities. I have got my money's worth since I bought The Black Edition 64G new in the box from a guy who got the phone as a Christmas present for $300Cdn. This phone owes me nothing. I did replace the Battery last year for under $40 bucks Cdn.

I assume the windfilter really is just acting as a lowcut filter which is thinning out the rumbling wind noise a lot and not causing any more destruction to the audio. That would explain the lack of any filtering artifacts. Pretty good solution.

Great video! (as always) But damn, that preformed a lot better than I thought it would! Lack of RAW support is a bummer, but otherwise, it ain't half bad! Assuming the headphone quality is even somewhat decent, its looking like a BB will be my next phone. Speaking of which, do you have any plans to make a real audio review for the Keyone?

I'm currently watching this on my blackberry priv might I say that I'm am quite impressed at this camera review of the KeyOne as camera is the 2nd major factor for me when buying a phone (1st is the qwerty keyboard), but I have a feeling my patience will be rewarded if I wait for the release of a BlackBerry Priv 2

So is it better than the PRIV or not? Or at least the same? I tried to switch from the PRIV to Key2 or Key2 LE but the camera is just unbearable terrible. So I'm looking for a KeyONE now ... to get a newer android on my BB.

Tried one of these in store today, personally I found it too much play and not enough work. The screen is too tall IMO due to being aimed at videos/games, this makes the phone top heavy and that plus the large device size makes it uncomfortable to use one handed. Would be amazing if they released a "compact" version of this, I would throw money at them

Now that Blackberry's got the camera right, perhaps they could fix their launch dates so that the average buyer can understand when their damn devices will actually be available. Google when this device is supposed to be released, and even Google says it was released on February 25... Anyway, thanks for the video, it was nice to see such an indepth review of the camera.

I am disappointed at the lack of RAW capture support. Why not include that safety net?! Also, the space bar should be a two stage button for the camera shutter. Half press for focus, and full press for capture.

I get the idea of a dual stage switch, but I'd honestly probably be bugged by a space bar that had a double click action. That would feel strange when typing. Now, we do have that programmable side key though. On a phone where EVERY key is programmable, the side key is kind of useless. Why not turn THAT into a dedicated two-stage shutter?

If it was in the space bar I would hope that when typing all you would have to do is half-press it in order for it to type a space, then only use the full press for the camera shutter. That being said, having the side mounted two stage shutter button would be the best. They would just have to move it further down on the side which might cause issues with accidental presses when handling it. Have you been able to get the Nova gesture actions to work with the capacitive keyboard?

I'm using Nexus 6p , on the RU-vid app highest available option is 720p 60fps. Maybe something wrong with the app? Anyway i like your style of camera reviews. 👍👍👍
