It was around 3 am in Espoo FInland. I heard loud bird going on chirrping outside. Went on the balcony, it was dark. Silence...then the bird went on again. I managed to see clear contours of a dark middle-sized bird sitting on the edge of the roof of opposite house. The song was loud but really beautiful. It was middle of February... I had no idea what bird it could have even been at this time of night at this time of year. Did some research. Listened to many songs. Think, this is Blackbird... can´t think of anything else it could have been.
well done midmarsh, i love the way you did the moon with the blackbird overlay, it looks so real, and a bit spooky, and the blackbird sings so clear and he has a wonderful song !!!
These birds are closely related to our N. American Robin. The call is similar and when we were in England I noticed their behavior was similar (flight, gait, etc). Neat!
