The Netherlands have fantastic female singers in metal: Floor, Zora, Simone, Sharon, Anneke etc etc

The person who produced For Epica also produces Blackbriar. Zora said three songs were inspired by the Malice Maleficarum, The witch's hammer. These were the religious laws used to justify the torture and burning of men women and children for witchcraft. The first song Confess Is about the priest and inquisitors torturing a woman to get her to confess to everything. including causing shipwreck. In the past women were burned stake i for causing shipwrecks. This the name of the album. Weakness and lust is the snide confession of the witch woman under torture. I'd rather burn Is the witches lament as she goes to the stake.

I adore Blackbriar. Great reaction. This song is a good intro, as are "Until Eternity", "Arms of the Ocean", and the new "Fairy of the Bog". This particular song is a woman accused of Witchcraft who mockingly confesses to all ills. It is (kind of) followed up by "I'd Rather Burn" which is the curse of the Witch on the way to the stake; that song is a bit more for those who know the band already (as is "Preserved Roses"). If you wanna rock out, try "Witching Hour". Thru Blackbriar I also found Snow White Blood from the duet with Ulli Perhonen ("Rose Red Snow White"). Snow White Blood are excellent symphonic metal - try "Longing for the Sea" or "Drop a Stich" (which is pretty much audio only on RU-vid as far as I know whilst typing this)

Wow I'm not sure how this flew under my radar, i recommend this one under the Lorna Shore "To the Hellfire" reaction, that's actually my favorite song but Blackbriar is my favorite band. I mainly listen to deathcore but i need to have a balance so i love bands/artists that bring a dark and heavy vibe but in a very pleasant and beautiful way. Thank you for the reaction and for bringing Blackbriar on the channel, they are independent and relatively unknown. I've been recommending them to people since 2015. I'm very glad you enjoyed it as much as you did! I'll suggest another female fronted band: Seven Spires - "God's of Debauchery" - Symphonic death metal but with beautiful clean vocals as well as multi-range harsh vocals. insanely talented band and vocalist. Adrienne is one of the most talented female vocalists in my opinion, she does the orchestrations and compositions for the songs as well.

Never heard of this group before. Very impressed! With regards to swearing, so the Norse and us Irish are the same, swear words are just part of our usual speech! There is a band from Belfast called 'Therapy?' and one of their most well known songs is called 'Screamager' it's harmonious metal. You might enjoy, if not already! ☮️💜

@@Magnereacts Skjera Bagera! Ireland has ancient ties with Norway, Sweden. We did one of those DNA things, the hubby has more Scandinavian in his bloodline than I (and he's English!) I could spend weeks in Norway painting many watercolours and oils. Beautiful place. ☮️💜🇮🇪🇧🇻

If you want to check out some unique rock maybe try Yohio either My Nocturnal Serenade or Merry Go Round. If you check out more Blackbriar they’re song Arms Of The Ocean is great. Snow White Blood is also an incredible Symphonic Metal Band you could check out they’re song You Belong To Me.

I love Blackbriar. I was introduced to their music by someone in a Nightwish fan group. I will be ordering their album deal from their website when I get paid. I've not heard a bad song by them so far. Another band that were mentioned were Kalandra from Norway. (Local so you may have already heard of them 😁) They aren't metal so not something for this group of reactions but worth listening to anyway. 'Virkelighetens Etterklang', sung in Norwegian is beautiful. They also do a brilliant cover of Wardruna's 'Helvegen' which you reacted to a while ago. Kalandra's version has their own style to it as well. Katrine sings both the Aurora/Lindy-Fay Hella and Einar parts and always makes my hair stand on end. All the best, Paul. OK, you said "strange, beautiful, crazy" and "metal", and you also said you like Kate Bush. A song which IMO fulfills all these requirements is "Sultry Air" by the Trondheim-based Avantgarde/Progressive Metal band Atrox: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U0FrXSWfl9w.html I've already recommended in my comment to your Nina Hagen-reaction, but I hope you won't mind if I recommend it once again. It's a song from what I consider to be the metal album with the craziest/most unusual vocal lines, namely "Contentum" (released in 2000). The vocals of their singer Monika Edvardsen (who left the band in 2004) on this album remind me of Kate Bush in her most experimental phase ("The Dreaming" and "The Ninth Wave"), mixed with the craziness of Nina Hagen and some oriental influences as regards some of the vocal lines. You won't find any live footage from the time while Monika was in the band, probably because the band was total underground, only played very few concerts back then and it was a time before nearly everyone had a smartphone to film each and every concert. However, the fact that this is a mere audioclip will allow you to fully concentrate on the music. BTW, the surrealistic album cover was also done by Monika. I really wish there were other metal bands with female singers sounding like this, but there aren't. (I won't mind, if anybody can prove me wrong, though.)

Thank you again miss Loona, for your enthusiasm! I love it! I'll save your reccomandation, and hopefully I'll make a video on that one. It seems really interesting! I'm happy you remind me, because it's easy that some get lost in the middle of everything. Peace and love ❤️🙏❤️

@@Magnereacts :) If it should get lost, I might remind you again in a couple of months. ;) I might also have to remind you about The 3rd and the Mortal (another Trondheim-based and now defunct band), without whose debut album "Tears Laid in Earth" Nightwish would not exist - that's what Tuomas Holopainen himself said in a comment about this album. And in this comment he also said: "I was 17 years old when I heard a song called Why So Lonely on the radio in Finland. There was a lot of darkness in my life at that point, and I related to that. And the next week I went out and bought the CD. It took me to a whole different world - it was so beautiful and so dark." So if you would like to share his experience, you might simply start with "Why So Lonely?": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XntyiKlCQDw.html Make sure to listen to this original album version, even if it is only an audioclip. There are fan-recorded live-versions from about 20 years later featuring the original vocalist Kari Rueslåtten, but with a completely different band, and there's also a videoclip of a re-recorded version by Kari Rueslåtten (feat. Tuomas on keyboards), but even though these versions aren't bad, they simply don't come close to the fascinating atmosphere of the original version!
