I took my seat many years ago at a Wembley Model Exhibition. and began chatting to the man next to me. I described my Dore Westbury Mill and various projects. Peter Southworth he introduced himself. He was also part owner of the company supplying the milling machine parts. We continued chatting enjoyed the lecture but the organisers were a bit upset with our joint questions of Abismil drawings from me. And who was prepared to correct them from Peter. Love from David and Lily. Also friends of Jaquie at Blackgates!!!!!

This I think is some good news! Southworth engines have always impressed me, particularly their cross tandem Corliss engines. Here is hoping Blackgates continues the full line.

I agree. The Corliss engines fascinate me, but I have neither the time nor sufficient expertise even with slide valve engines to try building one.

I assume the pumps have slide valves in them. Is the valve driven by the lever attached to the piston rod - just knocking the valve and down sort of opposite to the piston movement?

the pumps have an internal shuttle piston and two slide valves.
