@WAQAZ Your production is super dope right now....just how everything is put together, the elements, sounds, transitions...everything. Its super professional. Fantastic job whoever is involved
Thank you... was searching how to do this... everybody said to use external disk but i'm leaving for a week on holiday now and wouldn't be able to work... you are a life saver
Question of the week answer: Steffen Paul graded „Dark“, it has a dark, moody, look combined with bleach-bypass characteristics and overall a lot of contrast. Important elements like the skin tones or the yellow coat are more saturated
I cannot tell you how grateful I am that you made this straight forward video. The black magic videos are not good and the manual is overwhelming on this. I actually sat on hold with Davinci for about an hour and then the guy didn't know,, took my email and said their RESOLVE person would get back to me. *cricket, cricket* If I might ask you a few more things not covered in the video. I'm working on a very low budget short film shot in BRAW. We have about 8TB of footage. I have the drives with the FULL 6k BRAW here with me as the master user and have uploaded the proxies for the other producer to work with me. Without uploading ALL the original files... How can I give my colorist access to the FULL RES 6k BRAW files of the picture lock cut? Also, As far as i can tell, I cannot copy an existing LOCAL project into the cloud, correct? Is there a way to edit OFFLINE as if it's a local drive (traveling) and then bring it back ONLINE later? This has the potential to be REALLY cool. Thank you!
Appreciate the love. You would use media management and copy media with 24 frame handles. It will reduce the size down to maybe 100gb if that. Then you can use bm cloud to share the project with your colorist.
Speaking of editors, can you also make a video on EDLs and what the workflow with an editor looks like? I feel like that this is something that gets overlooked quite often.
i love your videos! i am proud so say i am one of the FCM fam! This dude can explain on point. One question? which software are you using for screenrecording and edit this video? cheers Niro
Thanks for the tutorial! I have been waiting for this feature in an NLE for at least ten years. My editor only lives 20 minutes aways, but it's such a headache to swap hard drives or manually upload proxies. She might as well live 1,000 miles away. From the looks of it, BM really nailed this. I can't wait to dig in.
Look forward to giving this a go! I am amazed how far tech has come in the last few years…are you able to put out a Color grade on the book of Eli? Such a cool crazy look, I’ve done my own but I’d like to see urs. Thank you!
Really smooth explanation. Kind of a network newb here so one question popped up in my mind... If one would buy a BM Cloud Store 20TB or Cloud Store mini products... Will those work as remote servers as well and your editor could just download directly from your BM NAS, meaning you could just buy project libraries or do you still need to buy at least that 500GB plan on the Blackmagic Cloud web app to sync those files (or dropbox or drive), and the Cloud Store products just serve as the local network drives?
Great video, thank you. I have 2 questions that would help me a lot if you can answer. 1. When you select Sync Proxy and Originals. If you had just selected sync proxies, what would davinci had done with the audio files, JPEG images, and that other media that doesn't require proxy workflow? Would it sync it anyway? 2. If I buy the clou store or cloud store mini and I want to work with the workflow that you are doing. Do I need to sync my media to the Blackmagic Cloud server anyway or could I just use my own blackmagic cloud storage as the server for my clients to sync on? Thanks a lot!
Quick quote, I'm only a minute into the video but wanted to comment: "Every invention ever created, came from necessity." Glad Black Magic saw the need and filled it. "See a need, fill a need."
Thanks so much for all the help in this video! Quick question. When doing this kind of workflow, if I apply a LUT that I have on my end, and I've had my editor install the same LUT, but when they open the project on their end, it shows the LUT is missing on their end. At this point, I have to wait till they're done, to then color and apply the LUT which slows us down. Just curious if there is a workaround here, or maybe it has something to do with the the file path?
Sounds great, thanks for the overview. Does it also have benefits for single-user-projects? I filmed a couple of projects over the summer that I'd like to edit over the winter and the files of these projects take up huge amount of storage space. Does the BM Cloud offer a workflow like "store everything in the cloud, download just the files that are needed for the project I'm currently working on to my local drive, but free up the local space again when I close the project"?
I have gigabit ethernet and my upload is 3 or 4 mbs/second. Davinci Resolve is the only app I have open on my PC. Any idea why this is? All the forums I checked had the same question but no answers.
Qazi, thanks for the video, we have just started working on a share project, one of us doesn't have davinci studio, it still works but how does it work with stuff like voice isolation?
@waqas Qazi I have a question I hope you have the answer for. with the use of Blackmagic Cloud, can the original footage of the feature film (like about 1TB) and the Colorist be in one office, and the Assistant colorist from somewhere else in the world, make a project, import an XML and conform the project with the original footage (remotely!)
I get that bm wants to sell cloud storage but this isn’t ideal with my 80tb doc. I still need to media manage it but it’s still going to take a ton of space :/. Needs to sync to local drives. There may be a solution with resiliosync though.
Hey, is it possible to use cloud without the davninci storage. Me and my Partner working on music videos and we will safe all the data on two hard drives. Both will use on drive. So can we use the collaboration without the cloud drive?
What are best practices for importing new media to the project from either end? What if the Ohio editor wants to add stock footage to the project? Does he add it from any given folder on his computer? Or does he copy it to the media sync folder first and then load it into the Media Pool?
When we send an email for collaboration using the Blackmagic Cloud option, is there a chance that the software activation key could get leaked while working with collabrator? Please let me know.....
Is there a way to convert a cloud Project into a local project to like „Free Up“ Cloud Storage in the BM cloud? (like only active projects are stored in the cloud)
was wondering the same. I tried opening the cloud project from a different account and nothing happens. It never downloads the proxies from the cloud. In fact it's acting like it's trying to upload the offline files. very confusing
After following the steps up to 6:46, when I return to Resolve, the "Add Project Library" button doesn't appear; it still shows "Go to Blackmagic Cloud". Can you help me?
Question: When I add a lut, it shows up missing on my editors side even when I send him the lut to use. When he adds the lut, it comes up missing on my end. Any advice?
I've got a question, I work with raw files with BMPCC in 6k so the originals are huge in terms of files size, what would be your advices for use the cloud editing to use this utility of Davinci Resolve ? (knowing an issue I suppose is on the line: i'm in belgium and our upload is awfull, I have one of the best internet connection of my team and I upload to 50 Mbps so 6Mb/s +- for some To per project, would you still use it ?) EDIT: I decided to subcribe and try, and everytime in the upload of files it crashes totally my computer, so I cannot finish the upload for +-11Go, I would like to start to work with it but I think I'll have to wait
Hey Bro, I love this feature for the future ❤ i am switching from premiere pro to davinci and tried out with davinci cloud. Everything is fine but when i wanna create proxy from Sony 7siii 100p 10Bit doesnt work to create proxy and the raw file in davinci show me as media offline?! Did u knoiw why? (7siii with 50p 10Bit works)
I have an Ipad Pro that I will be using when I travel and would like to be able to create projects in the cloud and upload media. Then when I am home I want to download the files and continue editing on my home computer. Can I create cloud projects on my Ipad?
Thanks so much for making this video... I've been using the cloud with a remote editor... Is there a way to sync GFX and music and other elements? So far I've had to use DaVinci and Dropbox for other elements.... It's OK but would be so much better if all of it synced.. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for all you do for the editing and color correcting community!
In full disclosure we also experienced a lot of bugs and hiccups like what you're mentioning. I forwarded my feedback to the Blackmagic team directly so we'll see what happens.
There is one issue with this what I have now. My plan is 500GB storage. I share few 50gb projects with my editor, and the storage is now on full, but we always delete the projects, and still shows me BM cloud reached the 500GB. Why is that, what do you think? Now the cloud project library is empty and still shows me my storage is full.
What happens if one user has 3rd party plugins/effects/dctl's that another user doesn't have installed? Or if one is using v18 and another v19 for some reason?
I synced a project from my client's pc to my system and edited it but when I add new graphics and music to the project in client's pc they don't get synced to my pc. They are offline even though the client pc shows that they are synced to cloud.
have variety of footage which have different aspect ratio from old tape like VHS,DVCAM,Mini DV,HDV and also FHD footage. when we import these footage then by default all clips have same aspect ratio of sqare 1:1 but i want original aspect ratio. In other software like premiere pro when we import clips then it maintain original aspect ratio of original clips but here all the clips have 1:1 aspect ratio. Here from clip attribute we can change aspect ratio but having 200 to 800 clips in a project , it is not possible to do . Is any setting or any solution to solve this in davinci resolve.
I tried opening the cloud project from a different account and nothing happens. I don't see the "open cloud project" dialogue. It never downloads the proxies from the cloud. In fact it's acting like it's trying to upload the offline files. All the files are "queued for upload" very confusing
Kind of for the moment, from my understanding they will be intergrateing it up with the cloud store in the next few months (at that won't stop you putting a folder on a cloud store?) Bmds is not a subscription so it's cancel any time
Question, how does this work if I need to add additional assets to the project? For example we setup the project and then we download some stock footage or music to the timeline. Does that stock footage and new media sync too? What if my “remote” editor decides to add a new stock footage clip, what bin does that sync with?
You don't need to copy anything to the project folder. It will just sync anything used in the media pool. The way it works is that it creates links to the actual files in the project folder so it doesn't take any extra space.
@@mariotriforce I have the cloud store and it works right now. According to Blackmagic you need the cloud store to work remotely as demonstrated in this video.
@@memcrew1 not technically needed anymore as the cloud storage is an option, the BMD video did say it would get deeper intergration tho so maby they will automate the backups to the cloud & cloud store ❤️ 🤔 from the camera (I expect them to potentially do a monitor too tho 🤔)
Cool man, Please, I would like to leave a suggestion for the channel's next content, please recreate the look of the Netflix show Sex Education, note that in areas of greater contrast there is a blur and a golden outline and on the other side a blue outline, it looks like a portrait taken with a film camera...please consider this request, and when you search you will be delighted with this look.
