The fact that Blackmagic has literally REFUSED to give any kind of shipping update for the Pyxis is insane. Zero communication whatsoever. Pretty much a big middle finger to every person who pre ordered.
I pre-ordered the camera and EVF and frankly all I care is that they get it right before they stick it in a box and ship it to me. I will wait while they make it as close to perfect as they can. I will be much happier in that situation than getting a friggin half baked pain in my butt for $5k.
I didn’t preorder the camera but I don’t like how they haven’t updated the community about the delayed shipping. You want people to buy your product but you can’t give your community a simple update on shipping? Ridiculous
People forget how long it took the original ursa 4.6k to come to market. That took over a year from it's announced delivery to shipment. I don't really care about delays as long as it's not a mess when they ship it.
The screen on the side is so boneheaded to me. At least with the Komodo you can shoot with the top screen in a pinch, but how do you realistically shoot with a side screen? May as well just take that off there and save the space and weight if you have to mount a screen anyway! It’s just so like Blackmagic to go 90% of the way and then do something really strange.
Look forward to finally getting mine. Thanks for sharing, seems we are getting closer but their radio silence to customers is nothing short of a disgrace. Looks like it’s going to be a great system especially now they have fixed the readout 😉
I love the design of this new camera, the winning metadata system BRAW, 6k, SDI Connector, 2 CFexpress slots and compability adapters but, why did they remove the internal ND Filters??? When we all know how necessary they are, they did it with the 6K Full Frame, 6K G2 and many guys are upset with that decision. I would not change my BM6K Pro for that, because I depend a lot on the internal ND Filters, because using an ND Filter placed in front of the lens for some reason brings problems with certain colors like green, magenta and orange, I have seen that problem in Blackmagic 6K G2 as well as Sony FX6, FX3 and C300. I understand that it is the external ND Filters that cause that type of problem when they are after the sensor of a camera. I had a Sony FX6 for a year and a half and sold it because the Sony metadata is not as good as BRAW, but when I used the internal ND Filter on the machine it did an excellent job, so a ND Filter behind the lens is essential for best results. I used Atomos Ninja in Apple ProRes RAW but it still takes up a lot of data compared to BRAW in 8.1. I don't know why Blackmagic removes the internal ND Filters from their new cameras, but they should consider making them with that tool again because they are essential.
I think they made a compromise removing the nd filters for the L Mount it’s just a huge added cost to integrate nd filters into that shallow flange distance.
They did not have an ND system that would fit into this body even if it had an EF mount (see the EF version), and it would be mighty expensive to create one. If they did make one, the costs would have to go into the product (which I feel is already on the pricey end). But I agree, for me and a lot of other shooters it's becoming more and more about tools that make life easier on set. In a world where your phone can get you 1 million + views, having something be so visually high production is becoming less and less of the market, and instead getting content out quickly until something strikes the algorithm is where it's at. While I absolutely think Blackmagic cameras and Braw have the best IQ of any camera under a Red or Arri, I do think that they are quite unnecessary for where the paid work is at for a lot of us. That paid work is in social media video, no matter if it's corporate, an ad or an event, the platform with the most exposure is social media.
My opinion, spend like $400 and get the mofage poco VND, 1-8 stops. It’s very good quality, behind the lens, and even takes solid FSND’s. Only caveat is you have to use PL lenses which are becoming increasingly affordable these days.
The camera is slightly under 3k🙃 The camera only comes with the body. The other necessary equipment depends on how you want to use it? What projects what jobs etc.
In a few months they managed to go from being a smart company to being a ridiculous company, announcing a rehousing of an old camera and then disappearing for six months without any updates on it. They used the pre-order as a fundraiser to finance a senseless camera, I assume that, as I did, many other users have moved on to another brand after this lack of seriousness and never looked back. goodbye Blackmagic you make me laugh
your can't fundraise a retail product that already has been issues an IBAN and gone through certification dumbass. should the product change the slightest due to production issues any variation that will alter the spec or the body structure will require them to get a new certification and go through it product release cycle all over again. if they wanted a fundraiser they would have done that right at the beginning not distributor or retailer will list a fundraiser product until it has got all it certification in place due to the regulation and laws. also EU reg is different from US and china, Asia. Aus. so imagine BM having to go through a whole new set of release cycle. it makes no sense. it was always a finish production but i believe one of the delay is either production material shortage or DaVinci resolve 19
@@hbp_ I don't think so. If Sony says a camera will be released on a certain date, they will release it on that date. It's like saying the new iPhone will be available on September 14th, then at Christmas nobody knows anything and the manufacturers are silent.
@@MichelangeloBaffoniUsually Sony seems to stock stuff before promising anything. PS5 was an exception due to supply chain issues. Burano was on preorder for a long time and it was only promised to be shipping "in the spring 2024". If I'm not mistaken also ARRI does very long lead preorders with uncertain release dates.
The elephant in the room - a viewfinder that costs about as much as the camera and a fixed side screen that will be of limited use on set. Don’t think this will fly…
@@RealLifeCinema I'd never use a Komodo and not bring my 6-7" high bright monitor, the Komodo screen is useless as a video monitor. Not sure why this camera is held to a different standard even though it's 1/3rd of the price of the Komodo-X? Strange logic by people who don't actually shoot with a box camera?
The fact they keep putting this "content creators" promoting their camera but do not update their customers, tells you enough about the company itself 😂
