Hey there! This test was exactly what I was hoping to find on here. I would really love to know a few additional pieces of info: 1. is the compression or quality of the file noticeably enhanced? 2. Which tools in the raw tab are accessible in Resolve when working on C300 MKII BRAW files? 3. When you look at the Bitrate of the files in Premiere when right clicking -> Properties, what rates are they saying? And what does the clip Metadata tab say in Resolve under the Bit Depth tab? Also, THANK YOU very much for answering any or all of these questions. It's very hard to get any answers about these specific things anywhere on the internet.
Hey buddy, sorry I've since deleted the c300mkii footage so I can't check this out. If I get it again (Shanes shooting an Indy feature on it in about a month), If I get my hands on it I'll do a quick test.
Hey mate, if you’re decoding as canon log with braw and comparing to the internal recorded clips you want to change the data/video levels via clip attributes in Resolve to see them match. This is to do with the default way Resolve interprets the different file types. Also with Extended Video/Video options, these are just basic gamma/saturation adjustments applied to BMDFilm and nothing else done to the colour. The idea with extended video is to have a reasonably good starting point for a grade that still has enough range to push a bit further if needed/wanted. But the primaries aren’t shifted from the wide gamut in BMDFilm. Some may still find this pleasing “as is”, but if you want “accurate” then decode into 709 from the raw tab. The wide gamut primaries look okay on 709 display but they’re designed to be wider than P3 and easy to grade rather than be accurate on a 709 display with no further transforms. Hope that helps!
You're a legend thanks for sharing!! Will check this out as soon as I can... not for a few weeks though as heading away to film for a while :-) Great job to the team getting braw out of the c300mkii!
Thanks for the info & video ... thanks .. but No ISO No Tint & No WB on BRaw for c300 Mark II sucks I think ?? has these features come on Assist in 2021 ??
You should check out emotive colors LUT - they have gen 5 compatibility and they’re more accurate than buttery (but because of that require more accurate colors / exposure, so more adjustments)
