Just saw them live the other night and he still sounds as amazing as when I saw Rainbow's "Straight Between the Eyes" tour. His fingers move so rapidly its like they're flying.
+Picato75 Sure, he plays great. The whole band are superb musicians... but it was Malcolm who caught my eye and my ear in the first guitar solo at about 3.00.
Blackmore’s Night were supposed to perform on August 14, 2011 at Švihov castle, Czech republic. The band manager canceled concert one hour before beginning. We were told it was because of bad weather. The manager did not accept promoter's proposal -delaying concert by one hour. Ritchie Blackmore and Candice N. have run away from the castle. The band has received same amount of money as if concert was held and they kept the money even after cancelation. They did not communicate with the promoter
@yianniskarousos This is even stated before playing the track on some of the early Blackmore's Night bootlegs as well as in interviews. ""Ariel" was a song that Ritchie and I wrote at home and he gave it to Rainbow and they rocked it up more than our original version. That's my voice at the end of it. "
To those who can see the truth, it's obvious that Ritchie has always been his own man. Who else has been drug free for his whole life and can still play masterful guitar well into his 60's?
Exactly...I have Kerrang interviews with him from '87 (a few years before he met Candice) where he's talking about eventually forming a renaissance style band. After the last Rainbow lineup fell apart, they decided to do the first BN album but it was just meant to be a brief break and they would do it in between 'rock n roll' records until he decided to do it full-time.
I am normally a Purple\Rainbow fan but I have to say that this band and their music is growing on me. I really do like some of it. I also think that their versions of Street of Dreams & Self Portrait are probably better than the Rainbow versions. One thing that I really do dislike thought is Ritchie's choice in footware. Maybe its something with him fast aproaching 70 that he needs to keep the heat in. Mind you with having Candice to keep him warm I cant see heat being an issue :)
@yianniskarousos Correct Ariel is on the 1995 Stranger in us all album. But it was originally written by Ritchie & Candice for this their own solo project. Ritchie then decided to use it on the Rainbow album. So technically this could be called the original version. Although a more accustic version was played by blackmore's night in 97/98 which is no doubt closer to how it was originally written. This version is slighly more rocked up to appeal to the purple/rainbow fans in the crowd.
@mastershredder2009 If you say so. My point about you opinion was merely that while you sure are entitled to dislike her voice, that doesn't say the rest of us do. I see nothing wrong with it at all, and on plenty of other videos I've come across the majority of the comments outright praise her singing. As for your eyewitness testimony I might believe that if I get to hear it from a slightly less biased witness. No offence, but I won't take your word for it.
@yianniskarousos If I'm honest I prefer the Rainbow version with Doogie White on vocals. I think everone would love it if Ritchie did another Rainbow album & tour. We all hoped for a reunion with Ronnie James Dio. Sadly that will never happen now. R.I.P Ronnie :-(
@aryllia Country: United States of America, Los Angeles Date: February 2005 Great show, even if Ritchie was subdued by medication! (RB had a bad run in with gout just before the show). Kudos for adding the talented violinist. Great openning act, also. I'll be going to see Owain Phyfe at the Arizona Renaissance Festival this weekend.
@craneo2099 seeing as this song was written by Ritchie & Candice originally for Blackmore's Night one could argue it was Rainbow that in fact covered the song. As for her making him crazy hmm well he liked this type if music long long before he even met her so your logic is flawed. He's playing the music that he likes & enjoys now. Have you considered that after 35 years of playing rock music that he's bored of it? He doesn't tell you what music to listen to, so what gives you the right to tell
When my old account bit the dust I lost all my videos. The music ones are easy to put back up so slowly but surely they're going up. I might have lost a 3m view count but at least I can upload in higher quality now. Sadly my none music videos seem to be lost as I can't find my backups. One or two still play from my iPhone's favorites.
Concert in Czech republic (14.8.2011): The band robbed 2000 fans at Švihov, majority of them Czechs, but also Germans, Swedish and other nations. I attended concert personally. The promoter does not exist anymore, thanks to them. Look at blackmoresnight2011.wz.cz There is detailed description of the situation. Also look at Facebook - group Blackmores night - Cheated fans
@aryllia You obviously don't know Blackmore's music that well. yes he CAN do what he wants and he is.A YOUNGER WOMAN!! hell aint nothin wrong with that. But if you're gonna sit there and try to get me to swallow the notion that she's not holding him back... good luck I believe that rainbow would've been back by now . i also believe that it would sell alot more and have a greater following than this. I know i'd take my kids to see a RAINBOW show any day. It would be a privilege to see that.
My man. I think the same. She is holding him back. I love his playing since 69 , but he act like a trained robot. How can one of the greatest do that to us his fans
@aryllia I saw them at Wilshire Theatre in LA. This wanna be Natalie Merchant went on and apologized for Blackmore's performance that night and went on to say how he was suffering from a bad case of gout and not all there that night. He stared daggers into her after her explanation, interrupted her, and started to do an unscheduled guitar solo to shut her up. On my life that happened.. Yep, That tang has got him good it does. but he's still got his nads in place..There is still hope
you must have ben at Charlotte. Great show but dissapointed. the venue was so small I guess Ritchie didn't think it was right for the Strat. I'd go again but I need that electric feeling!
Blackmore needs to drop the blonde yoko and get back to business. She got him by the nads she did!! she took them off, placed them in her dresser drawer and forced one of the heaviest most influential rock/metal guitarists to play this hallf ass supermarket crap. She's reduced him to serve her own purpose she did!! WAKE UP RITCHIE WAKE UP. WE NEED A NEW RAINBOW REUNION MAN!!!
@mastershredder2009 Oh lay it of with the conspiracy theories. While it is great that you like his older works so much you simply can't expect an artist to only perform for the pleasure of their fans. They've got to do what they like, or they'll become manufacturers instead of artists. It's a shame you can't appreciate his new music, but at least you have the old Rainbow albums to enjoy, right? Blackmore is old enough to decide for himself ;)
@mastershredder2009 That's your opinion, and I'm not going to deny you your own opinion. However, that's all it is. Your opinion. You said it yourself, it's not unlikely that he'd sell more if he only lived to please his old fans. But that isn't what an artist should do. Being an artist gives you the privilege to at some point give a group of fans the finger and say "fuck this, I'll do what I want, because I want it, and you can't stop me". Stop wallowing already and move on :)
russ theall Really, reacting al agressive on a mistake is already childish to say the least. But in this case where it really isn't a mistake and the band really is called "Blackmore's Night" you just made an ass out of yourself. Congratulations
crappy cheap Hammond sound in the background nearly ruins it -.- And Ritchie plays more with the Synth sound than the guitar sound, but we all know it needs no words to what he's playing^^
Sorry, this version of the song really isn't working for me. I typically love Candice but not here at all. The lyrics to this song are fantastic as written and Doogie really makes the song. So covers are just not meant to be...
I can't work out quite what is but she tends to be a bit annoying. Over-elaborate hand gestures and she drawls her words, screws up her nose. She used to be good but now she's a bit irritating. I'm sure she thinks she really is a fairy princess or something. Listen to this song by Rainbow - Rock Palast 1995, that's the real and proper way to play and sing this song.
Every individual has their own ability and capability.Don't be a too smart alex when you don't even have anything.Just shut up and listen....and also appreciate.
