Ritchie Blackmore went from heavy metal to renaissance music. Always loved how versatile of a guitarist he was. This song is one of his best.

This feels like a dimly lit tavern full of old friends who have sang this song hundreds of times before and not a single one is sober. A genuine good time, and it's not ending til sunrise. Lots of nostalgia for something that has never happened to me.

When my mom passed, she requested this be played as we left the funeral service To this day I cannot listen without thinking of her, and weeping in joy and sorrow

This song has a lovely blend of Celtic and tavern style music. A faster/stronger beat than most Celtic, but more contemplative and ethereal than drinking songs. Plus the vocals give the whole thing a mystical, surreal quality. Like this town exists just beyond our perception . .

Roots, ancient Europe, celtic heritage....

When I first heard this song on crappy speakers all I understood was the part about raising your glass, so I thought it was a drnking song. Now that I am actually hearing it properly, it *is* a drinking song!

And my friends wonder why Blackmore is my favorite guitarist of all time. In all genres. This man can play everything and make it sound so perfect.

POV: You walk out of your cottage, and hear a woman singing. Why would someone be singing at night when everyone is sleeping? You walk towards the song and see a woman circling a fire, holding a guitar as others follow her. Witches, fairies and other beings are there. Do you join them?

My grandma passed away this morning, we used to listen to this all the time together, she gave me a guitar, I plan on learning how to play this, for her, it's a beautiful song

Love this song.......she has the sweetest voice.....brings back memories of our weekly girly nights together 17 years ago.....Judy Carol and myself......wine food laughs and great conversations. Unfortunately Carol passed away before I could say goodbye! The memory of those nights lingers on in the memory of this song......❤
