I've read stories to others, but no one has read a story to me in more than 60 years. My dad read "White Fang" to me back then. Thank you Scott, from every listener........ God bless the Wadsworth clan. Darrell

When your arm gives out you have a career reading for audio books. The story was so moving and I am not ashamed to say it brought a tear to my eye. Partly because it was well read but also because it is a moving reminisance of simpler times when a man was gauged by the hard work he did with skill and dedication. Many thanks Scott.

You beat me to it. My wife is blind (retinitis pigmentosa) & ‘reads’ an average of 3 Talking Books a week. I had her listen to the last 5 minutes of your narration. “Oh, he is really good,” she said. “Has he narrated any other books? He really should do this when he wants to slow down!” I AGREE! Thanks for a very enjoyable 1/2 hour.

Scott I have just finished the listen. I am 64 years old, retired, a father, a grandfather a son, and a follower of Christ, amongst other skills . I am embarrassed to say however, I have tears rolling down my face. The pride of a son for his father, the community gathered to be of witness to an outcome, I can only imagine the pride Nate is feeling during this read for his father. I can not tell you how thankful I am to have found this channel through my son. I have this pride for my two sons and daughter. I only pray they have close to this pride for me.

I grew up in my dad's forge, and my very earliest memory in this earth is of the smell of a shoe being fitted. I've never identified with a story so much in my life. Most people think the smell of burnt hoof is nasty, but it reminds me of home and my childhood. Thank you. Dearly.

I means a lot to me that you recognize the pricelessness of this amazing story and painting. I have shod horses for 37 years. This paining has hung in my home for at least 30 years. Rockwell got so much right! From the anvil height to the swing and how the men addressed their anvil. Truly a piece of Americana! Thank you!

As you read the scene was alive before me and memories came to me from many years ago. My granddaddy, Henry, was a blacksmith. He was small of stature strong and tough but not hard. His shop had no electricity. As a very young boy I experienced some time in that shop with him. He never called me by name, I was just "boy". I told him I wanted a horse but he said "Boy, horses got too many foot troubles, get yourself a mule someday." I didn't obey, bought horses and $1,000s later found out he was right. A fine half hour spent watching this video. It's always a treat to receive notification that Essential Craftsman has posted another one. Thanks for sharing.

Well done Sir! Closed my eyes and I was there, living it. The cold air, steamy nostrils, smoke filled room, sparks flying and anvils singing. The bond between man and horse exemplified. The arrogance of the challenger deriding his opponent. Keep up the good work!

I waited several days to listen to this story knowing I needed to be someplace quiet and where I could build the picture in my mind. You did not disappoint. As a blacksmith, the story line more than struck home. I hung on every word, could imagine standing there in the shop, and see every hammer blow they made. I almost thought I could smell the smoke off the forge. Seriously, I enjoyed it immensely. Bravo, Scott! You can read a good story like nobody’s business. Thank you very much! Cheers! Whipple

Beautiful story. Thanks for taking the time for telling it. It brings back found memories of competitions even back in the late 1980s and early 90s between farmers, loggers and steel workers that I seen and had the privilege to be apart of. It was not just bragging rights it was a true competition proving their love and showcases skill for their craft. When you love doing something it's not work it's a way of life. Thanks again.
