Combining both sides of the tongs into one work piece and then splitting it into 2 is the most brillant thing I‘ve ever seen

I know this comment is a couple years late, but these tongs are phenomenal. As a new 'smith (about one year under my belt) your videos on chisels, punches and drifts have been invaluable. They were clear, concise, and helpful from every perspective. You are such a great teacher. You should consider charging for online classes or have a beginner tool/project playlist.

Thanks for the kind words. Once I finish my current project I will be doing a lot more in the way of videos and courses. Probably in the new year sometime that will be. February or march maybe. There is a few playlists for tooling and such but not a lot at the moment.

I'm so glad you put so little music in your vids. It's important to also hear what you're doing, the pitch of the ringing steel, the force of the impact of the hammer, it all matters. Really adds to an immersive experience.

Question for you, sir. I LOVE the look of your tongs and intend to make myself a couple pair like them. But are the points behind the pivot functional, or purely decorative?

it strengthens the transition point from hinge to rein...not strictly necessary but decoratively functional

THAT is one very sweet pair of tongs! Your attention to detail is amazing! I LOVED the video but I wish I wasn't disabled and that I could afford a power hammer!! THAT would make things a lot easier on me and for me! I have a disease that eats the cartilage from ALL the joints and erodes the ends of the bones so, I can't use much more than a 2 pound hammer and even that, I can'use for very long! Again, I loved the video and will watch it again and again! I posted it on my FB page, too! Thanks for posting this video and for the attention to detail that many do not take the time to do!! KUDOS!

Nice work!! Heavy duty, artistic, well built. I've made many, many tongs in my life but never using this method. I like them!! I've got a tip you may want to try....... When cutting your bar in half on the anvil, try using a hold-fast in the round pritchel hole to hold the bar on the anvil. It helps to keep the bar from bouncing all over the place.
