Great demo & playing also ! I bought one a year ago , I love it , crystal clear tube amp tones & it easily gets raunchy Marshall tones or those gritty Fender tones ! Thanks for your expert demo and playing . Cheers !
Before deciding I had my eye on the boss next tone, but I wanted to have a tube. A few years ago I heard an ENGL and I never forgot that warm and distorted sound, in a good way. What made you change?
@@miguelgateira4070 Was actually nothing to do with the amp. Bought it through Guitar center brand new and got a used one with no foot pedal. Contacted their customer service and they sent me out another foot pedal that was also very used and couldn't make enough contact through the jack to be able to switch between the clean and over-driven sides. I fell in love with the clean sounds from Blackstar's demos on RU-vid. Since I already had an AC10 it pushed me towards a 6L6, 6V6 or EL34 style amp. That's where the Nextone came in. Got enough of a discount to pay for a speaker upgrade and my addiction has been tamed for now lol.
One of my big regrets in gear purchase is that didn’t spend the extra $100+ to get this amp rather than the HT 5R, which is a nice little amp but really nothing like this one in terms of headroom and versatility. And excellent playing, Jonathan! I’m a subscriber now just to hear you play whatever gear you’re talking about at the time.
How did I miss this one ? Oh boy. I’m gonna need a bigger house. This amp is fantastic!!! I loved all the tones and even the emulated line out sounded great. If my current amp goes I can definitely see my next amp. Well worth the price. Brilliant intro too Jon. Cheers 😀👍👍❤️
Try the new MKII version of that amp. I have had both and the MKII HT5 is so much better you won't believe it, 2 voices each channel and the clean is LOUD as in all 5 watts loud and pushes to a great crunch.
Nice playing Jonathan! It's good to see you pair it with such a versitle guitar like the Comanche, both being sonic chameleons. In fact, I bet this amp/guitar combo and an HX effects would be a do-it-all dessert island rig.
I love mine! The 2 watt mode is killer and the global master volume helps you get a great sound in any room. I replaced the speaker with a Celestion V Type just my taste preference..Prefer this amp over my Marshall DSL and Fender Bluesbreaker.
Hey Mark, I just bought one and I’m waiting for delivery and I’m curious as to the specific reason the stock speaker wasn’t your thing - and you’re not the first person to mention this so it got me thinking. If you have a spare min and wouldn’t mind giving me some feedback/comparisons, I’d appreciate it. Thanks! And great video Jon!🤘
@@cgoebbert Its a wonderful do all amp and the stock speaker isn't bad at all, I just thought it a bit too much boom on the bass end. I have an 1x12 extra cab so I use that to experiment with different speakers for all my amps. I really like the Greenback and V Type both in this amp and I went with the V Type in the HT20 MKII and put the Greenback in my DSL 20....I am very happy with the tones I get from both amps now. If I could only have one amp, the HT20 MKII gets all the tones with that lovely 2 watt button for bedroom crunch. Hope that helps...
I got same one, cause collecting Blackstar amps, well even at 2W very loud, it might sound crazy but going to HT 60 with 2x12 or even the 200W head they made, these are more versatile and bedroom fiendly, btw i use the HT 5 mk2 as bedroom amp and OMG priced on these amps raised like hell in here Europe, seems like an investement :)
I let my new tube amps run for 24 hours when I first get them. Seems to help burn in the tubes a bit. Maybe helps melow out the sound a little? But, if you're going to have a problem, it shows up much quicker.
