A couple of questions; How do you bring dirty stuff back in? You wouldn’t want to shove dirty spatulas back into a fabric container. My solution is a plastic dish tub from a restaurant supply place. Everything goes in (tools and such). Then goes back in dirty. I also keep my paper towels, foil, gloves, thermometer, and rags out at my work station. I have a really cool giant old metal first aid kit box that mounts on the wall. I also keep a smattering of spices, salt pepper and such out there too. I am fortunate to have a covered area to work in. I like the idea of a carrying caddy for the oil and specific spices for dish. I always have the platter or containers for my raw product, what I always forget, then remember almost too late, is my serving platters. It always is a mad dash back into the house or a shout out to the wife (always popular). So if you can come up with a solution for my forgetfulness that would be great. This was a fun video to watch to hear how others manage the struggle of an outdoor cooking space. Because that struggle is real.

Thank you so much for this video. I purchased a BS for my husband for Father's Day and he loves it. You are so right about going back and forth to get everything except I was the one going back and forth lol. I knew there had to be something to make cooking on the griddle more convenient and you shared it. I'm purchasing the Voyager bag today because of your video. Thanks for this comparison. The Blackstone caddy definitely looks more well built than the other from Harbor Freight. What I recently bought is Husky mechanics tool cart from Home depot and I put all my accessories and cooking tools in it. I also use a tool bag. I chose over the Blackstone it because of price and functionality. Blackstone is $50 vs tool bag less than $20. And as you showed the Blackstone doesn't have the individual storage locations like a tool bag. Great presentation of both.

Thanks Dave that was a really great comparison or review. I like the Blackstone bag because of the hard plastic bottom and looks good. You sold me on the harbor freight bag. I have on here in NC. Thank you for this. New subscriber and I must say you put up content us old guys can follow. I had a big tote that took up much more room than the little lady liked for my stuff. I went with the Harbor Freight bag and it works great. The Walmart "Expert Grill" bag was too small and I found the Blackstone caddy (not bad at all) to be inferior to your idea. With both hands free like with the second one you can push the grill or the griddle itself around in case you have to use it away from the house, but still have to store it buy the house when not in use. That way you could take the supplies and the grill or griddle out to where you need it to be at the same time. Then the only separate trip would be for the food itself probably then.

I was looking for a similar solution for tailgating. We already have a fabric tote for dry goods and supplies. I ended up settling on a plastic Rubbermaid style tote for utensils, squeeze bottles etc. When we get home I leave the fabric tote in the garage and the one with dirty utensils goes in the dishwasher, tote and all.

Very nice video... Have a weber genesis ii and a q-grill (late father's old grill)... just very recently got a blackstone 28-inch griddle to complement the grill, so I can sauté onions, sear asparagus, maybe one day do pancakes, etc.; everything you couldn't get away with on a grill with slats is what I want to eventually do on the blackstone... I just got the blackstone caddy shipped to me... been buying up a lot of the tools/accessories too... I might have considered the tool bag idea, because I am OCD too (Aspergers) about mis en place (every thing in its place)... but, cuz o' the Aspergers, I *also* want a "set" to be a "set"... in other words, It's all blackstone... I keep it all blackstone... like you wouldn't get a Chevy accessory for a Mercedes... So, I have a battle in my head right now: bring the caddy back or not to do the tool bag?... I wouldn't have as many spices as you; but I *do* have a few more handled tools and cast iron press and hamburger press than you had for your demo... a dredge and a round basting cover.... Subscribed to your channel... how do I see more blackstone secrets from you? and would I get notification a new video is out? Nice job explaining...
@NextWithDave
@NextWithDave 4 года назад
Thank you for watching and especially for taking time to comment! I can appreciate your dilema. I too, like sets but also like everything in its place. Since I made the video, I've added containers to the BS caddy. I went to a dollar store and bought a couple of large round plastic jars and cut the tops off to the height of the caddy. Also bought a retangular plastic basket and cut it to fit the caddy as well. With those, I have the option of putting handled tools in them but still keeping the open area as needed. Use your imagination and I'm sure you'll be able to make the BS caddy work for you with minimal added cost. Good luck, Dave

So, a snip from your reply: “ Also bought a retangular plastic basket and cut it to fit the caddy as well. With those, I have the option of putting handled tools in them but still keeping the open area as needed.” I wish I could picture what you’re talking about with a box in the caddy, and yet keeping open area (which is the large interior, I presume) open... elaborate with a picture, if RU-vid allows it?

That Blackstone caddy has some odd and disappointing design decisions. I suspect they will get some feedback and come out with a new model. They put a lot of emphasis on using only Blackstone accessories which is limiting. The side compartments are sagging from day one. The handle awkwardly attaches inside where it blocks items. The webbing has no lower edge to limit the tools from traveling down. No dedicated storage for the most common items: spatula, tongs, thermometer. They just wrapped a milk crate in nylon fabric and put it out there. Any weekend griddle guy couldn’t design a more usable tote. The fact that the Harbor Freight tool bag does a better job at less than half the price is further proof that some people will buy ANYTHING they slap a Blackstone label on
