Blackstone Model DB 12hp 

We used these engines in our dairy farms in Argentina for forty years working almost non stop, never a problem tough and noble engines.

I used to work at the Blackstone factory in Stamford Lincolnshire UK in 1980. Still live 2 miles away.

Imagine the available torque with those massive fly wheels!

we still use this engine in some lands here in Tunisia to get water out for plants

this is the kind of engine that i like! no cumputers, no electronics, just give them fuel and a spin and they just work non stop! I LOVE IT!!!

The engine revving up feels somehow heavenly... Like something sprung up into life and activity... Gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it :D

Great and reliable engines, we had many of these Blackstone and also Lister engines here in Argentina serving for years in ranches and factories all over the country.

In 1970s, in south korea, in my grandparent town, there was a above kind of diesel engine that operated the machinery of rice mill outside.

This is one of the best antique engine sites on RU-vid great videos, but please be careful on how you are hand cranking, keep that thumb pulled back. I broke my wrist when I was a young man cranking an engine the same way, learned my lesson the hard way. On my bucket list to visit the museum someday. Phil

Way back in the summer of 1967, I got one of these Blackstones to run the lights on the cement pier on the island of Lavan in Iran, 26.797726,53.388504. Perhaps it's still there. Handstarts with 40°C in the shade, there was none, not funny !

My brother was telling me--he spent one year [early 1980s}as a station mechanic on one of the big properties in the kimberleys of wa--they had a blackstone pumping water out of a bore that had 80'000hrs on its hr clock and to that stage the head had not been off it at all.. I do not know where blackstones are made but they know what they are doing..

Excellent find, the Blackstone DB was one of those special antique diesels that doesn't use a hot bulb but rather by spark. What are you running it with?
