totally agree, Seems like the plus picture has more noise. Not sold on it. Did they finally solve the overheating issues?

Seattle! I LOVED seeing all the video footage of my hometown, lol, and you picked some really places to visit for this video! Looking through your sample footage, looks like your DR970X Plus you tested also has some soft footage. Your 970X looks sharper than your 970X Plus. I've tested 4 of the Plus' so far.. and both I and others have been noticing some soft footage in certain parts of the frame. It seems to vary from one copy to another. I was hoping your sample footage would look better and more crispy, but it's on par with what I've been seeing. Overall so far it does seem like an improvement over the original 970X, but still quite a bit behind companies like Viofo in terms of clarity, detail, and dynamic range. Blackvue has bumped up shutter speeds which certainly helps, but it's still not on par with companies who are using HDR at night to capture plates.

DR970X Plus video looks grainy. Also according to a forum where members are comparing the Plus against the Viofo 229, the Viofo video quality is way ahead. Especially with night time license plate reading further away, showing Blackvues decision to not add HDR was a mistake. Maybe it can be added by firmware later unless it doesn’t have the processing power.

I wonder if these videos were uploaded correctly to RU-vid or something. My downloaded videos from my dr900x look more crisp than these videos without any graininess.

I have a tinted windshield so I cannot have a “glue” mounted camera like the U3000… Blackvue is my only really choice!

I'm interested in the box version once it is released although I do like Thinkware's radar motion detection in the U3000 that enhances parking mode.

I'm kind of mixed on the box unit at the moment. I'm having an issue with the 770x box unit right now where it's picking up a weird static/high pitch hum noise while in parking mode with live view and recorded videos. I just bought it, but I'm thinking of returning it and going back to a 2 channel camera. Probably one of these newer model 970x plus units. The 970x box will only be 2 channel so I don't think I'll go that route.

7:50 lol 4:33 why the view smaller on the new models? It's Definitely better but if they haven't fix app theres problem same for handle high heat without shuting down. Like i said before the box version is ideal for dashcams all should have that option but how is the battery life when hooking it up with the powercell 8?

The added heatstrip along the front of the unit should hopefully help with the heat, and they've been steadily updating the app as time goes on. As for battery life, parking mode draws 370mA of power for the DR970X-2CH Box system, which will supply roughly 20 hours of parking mode with a battery pack.

I just placed an order with BBMC for the 970x Plus Box. Please tell me it comes with the SOS button?! I’m only asking because I came across one reviewer who purchased from BlackBoxMyCar stating the SOS is not included. Can you please confirm?

Glad to hear you've placed the order after our chatting here fernando! Yes, I can assure you that current purchases of the box unit come with the SOS button. Some of the early models we were sent from BlackVue of the DR970X Box did not include the SOS button, but we've discussed this with BlackVue and ensured it's included moving forward.

Blackmycar. Did you upload the quick format files to RU-vid because these videos look grainy and my RU-vid app is set to the highest quality. My downloaded videos from my DR900x look a lot more crisp than these videos. I don't think people will be impressed with the quality demonstrated in these videos from cameras that are supposed to be on the high end side of the dashcam spectrum. If you watch review videos on Viofo and Vantrue cameras that use the same starvis 2 sensor, those videos have a lot more clarity than this one. I was ready to purchase the 970x Plus until I really looked at this video.

I have an old Blackvue 3500. Would I be able to use the old power cable if I upgraded?

The power cable has been changed and will need to be replaced, but if you have the rear camera, then the rear camera connection cable is the same.

BlackVue 4k systems are only 2-channel, though there is a front and interior version available! That model would be the DR970X Plus IR 2-CH, and has the same interior camera as previous DR970 versions.
