watching from uk. What an abhorrent excuse for a human being & I'm a Christian. Also my 95yr old housebound mother succumed to this viscious disease this morning. She had carers who took precautions and as a family we did not visit as we were at the time allowed out to shop & wanted to protect her. We did all the right things and still lost her. My sister & I are now more at risk because we had to the house after a Carer called & when we got there had to make her comfortable. Disgraceful. Take care everyone x

She was the oldest person in the race but was not the last. A 38 minute 5K is certainly not Olympic standards, but it is nothing to sneeze at and actually not a bad time for any person at any age. So just because someone hits their 80's does NOT mean they have to "pack it in". Tony is NOT EVIL - Tony is a great family man who loves his wife and he treats her like he just met her yesterday and he has a very good reputation in the city of Baton Rouge. Our bodies are His temple now. I never said Jesus didn't want us to gather together. He mentioned worshipping with other and communing several times throughout the new testament. I whole heartedly believe it is so very important to gather together. But that doesn't mean you have to have a building to be with others when there is a pandemic going on. No where does Jesus say you have to be in a building to worship and be with others. In the age we live in now there are many ways to "gather together" in Jesus name...live streaming services and then doing small groups through the app zoom or some places are having drive thru church services where we can be in our car and hear the service while maintaining distance. Don't get me wrong, I am a big believer on going to "church" and being with others, but if it means risking hundreds maybe thousands (since he said he has 1800 people) of people getting sick and possibly dying...it is ok to momentarily find alternative ways to worship together than meeting in a building. Also Jesus said to respect and obey the government (as long as it doesn't go against his word)...and they already told this pastor a few times not to gather which he has refused to obey.
Also, technically if you have more than 1 person in your family who is a follower you are gathering with them. Our church is doing a live stream (because our state says no more than 10people can gather) service tonight of our Maundy Service. We are gathering in our homes with our family and fellowshipping with other being led by our pastor. We will be washing each other feet and taking the Lord's supper. Safely. Because God also told us to love our neighbor, and it isn't loving them by gathering together and risking their lives. Hope you have a blessed and healthy Easter!

(I'm Italian and I have heard Doctors speak of this terrible decision they were faced with because of shortages)

They may very well spread the virus to family members, friends, even strangers. We know even asymptomatic people can be contagious. It is a shared responsibility to limit this spread by avoiding crowds and staying home as much as absolutely possible. Very simple.

I literally had a pastor cuss me and my employer for his internet service being down before a church service recently. He said, and I quote "HOW they gone pay their TITHINGS???" The fact that was the first thing he stated says it all.
I would believe it. When I was a teenager I actually knew a guy who was 18 and he was geting schooling to be a priest. I did not bother to ask for what religion. However i did ask him why he wanted to be a priest. What he said was, "Religion is a good business and there is alot of money to be made". Now i dont know if he ever did become a priest or what he is doing now. But I found it interesting that this man already figured out that there was money in being a religious leader. It was something i already knew, but just never had anyone be so honest about it.
the sad truth. Im very religious but come on. God wouldnt send people out to this and God didnt command these people to attend. Never once did the pastor say God spoke to him to do this. Its all about being seen and money.

You're right about the rude comments, but the other comments are from people who say they believe, but don't read the Bible. The things they say are things they heard not things they've read in the Bible. They can't give you one scripture to back up what they said. in Mark 7:6-7 Jesus speaking, well has E-sai-as prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, these people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. So who are you to tell people who live in Baton Rouge they can't attend church?? They are there because they WANT to be there. They put money in the plate because that's what they want to do. The Pastor needs his money. I bet he gets a majority of his donations this time of year. Can't miss out on all that money now can he. Money and checks with C19 all over it. The fines he is getting are a drop in the bucket compared to what his donations are. Fine him more. The fine should go up every time he disobeys the law. Trust me God and Spirit does not care if you pray in church or at home. Pray at home people. Stay home.
Its also meant to make churches look bad. In NY, there is an overwhelming orthodox Jew population that still has its schools open, etc. and NONE OF THE DEMOCRATS ARE STOPPING IT. Williamsburg, Monsey, Kiryas Joel, etc. We aren't fooled why democrats are making a big thing about this if it was a church, but wouldn't dare to bring up what everyone knows who lives in the areas.
Religion is not hypocritical these sad people showing up at his church are just like everyone have heard million have die ,they need hope to bad pastor like this man is preying on them .Blame the man not people trust in God .
This is what hurts this country more than anything else, politicizing religion for one's political beliefs. You cannot synchronize Jesus with your personal politics.
