Currently have a new 945-2 with the smooth carbon fiber and my name engraved tastefully (small) on the darker stonewash blade. It's a beautiful knife, love the little touch of blue glinting in my pocket though this may be hurt by the deep carry pocket clip I ordered. I have a similar problem though, the satin hardware doesn't match the stonewash blade. Why is life this way? So what I'll do is I'll order another whole knife and become a 945 collector. The custom shop is so fun, I've been obsessively designing knives for myself and others and I don't even like other people. The one I'm soon pulling the trigger on is a 945 with the black carbon fiber scales provided, the more textured and utilitarian look makes me hard. For that matter I'll need all black hardware; axis, screws and liner. Not the thumb stud and spacers though, I have another idea for those. The blue on my 945-2 is pretty but that green is so gnarly and gross, more appropriate for me. Here's hoping it's as vibrant as it looks online and not kind of a desaturated frog ass green. The blade, though, is the entire point of this second $400 purchase. As you know the provided blade is a shiny satin that will look perfect on my 945-2 with matching software and flirty blue. Get out of here blue, I'm a sigma. That's the only reason I can afford these knives. I can't remember what humans feel like. Let's put the finishing touch on this shiny, wonderfully shaped blade: a png of the official Nintendo seal of quality just between and beneath the Benchmade butterfly and alien nipple green thumbstud. Complete with TM and R. I do wonder whether anyone at Benchmade may take interest. Once I have my 945-2 and custom I remove both blades, switch thumbstuds between the two, and put the blades back in opposite knives. Then finally I have my lovely official Nintendo 945-2 with matching metals, handsomely coated in woven carbon fiber! We won't be using this one. It's pretty and shiny so that's the first safe queen. Instead I'll edc my fully custom 945 with the darker blade and my name on it as an insurance policy because surely anyone who finds my $400 knife will see my name and return it. The more tactile feel of the handle stimulates the fingers. The black hardware remains discreet and doesn't clash with the blade's dim shine. The green spacers glow the color my farts smell. Of course I'm putting another deep carry pocket clip on this one and it's the perfect knife for my pocket. Wish a beginning 945 collector luck.
The darker 940-1 blade looks a lot better. Take note, Benchmade! Cool filing on that little slipjoint. What kind of dog do you have? Cool of TK to trade you and that he likes the brighter finish (I definitely like the duller look). Thanks Zach.
Thanks 👍 I have an enormous Doodle who is an official senior citizen! It was very nice of TK to do the swap! Found out it was an intentional light wash on these blades, which is a bummer. Would be a nice option in the custom shop!
I have a Benchmande 9101bk Auto Stryker. Was issued it when in Iraq and I am hoping to replace the blade. I'm neurotic about the 20 year old knife and am wondering if there's any possible way to find a replacement blade for it, even aftermarket. I can't find it anywhere...any ideas?
