I mentor High School students in blacksmithing and knifemaking. Your videos are required homework for the kids I teach. It is amazing how much they learn.

Tell your students they're lucky! I'm fortunate enough to have some great mentors around and I've taken/paid for a good deal of courses around me and I'm now considering taking a "smithcation" (vacation) and flying out to a smithy school. I wish I would have had the opportunity to learn back in highschool.

The problem solving methods you show here on how to get the flow of the curves etc. back to how they were ( or how you want them) are golden! What is your anvil made from? There's no ring to it- is that the anvil, or just your sound processing on the video?

Rob Kayser the ring on the anvil has very little to do with what it's made from. Make sure your nail is properly cured to a steel or wooden base. That's it.
