NBA star Blake Griffin remembers taking a deep dive into researching Donald Sterling prior to the 2009 NBA Draft, and finding some sketchy search results. Blake says he was too immature to fully wrap his head around or confront Sterling’s allegations. The six-time All-Star looks back on an uncomfortable party in which he was ushered around by Sterling and talks about the Clippers’ paradigm shift once new team owner Steve Balmer purchased the NBA franchise in 2014.

Absolutely! Sterling being a racist was documented for 20 years prior to the “incident”. None of the players had a problem cashing their paychecks including Griffin.

@@timhdz I think Sterling was just doing what most everyone would have done in his position - walking him around his party to introduce him as his new draft pick - i.e. teammate i.e. employee - because he owned the team and he was feeling good about it. Not because he's a slave or because of the color of his skin. Sterling did say some racist things, he likely was a bigot / racist, and he was punished by being forced to sell the team. I also think Sterling would have done this to any of his new draft pick players - regardless of race. That's why I'm lol'ing because people like to make assumptions and just jump to the race card w/o giving it some thought

@@elibutton I think you forgot the context of what the emails and phone calls Donald was sending out to people, mixed with how everyone there is wearing white and its called the "white party". Drafting is where you can buy, sell or trade players to other organizations. The only difference is that they are called players and they get paid handsomely for doing what they love.

It has nothing to do with race, in fact I know people of all races who have attended, and none of them made a fuss or pulled the race card. You guys are making something out of nothing here. He was a bigot, maybe a racist, I don't disagree with that, but he was forced to sell his team which he did not want to do - he was punished. So just let it go.

I think it's because those Clippers teams he was on were "whiney" and flopped a lot. I remember Blake saying that refs told him they were glad he left the Clippers since he was kind of a dick when he was on that team. I think Blake's a good guy, I just feel he got a certain reputation when he was apart of Lob City.
