They played this at a WW2 Marines memorial. There wasnt a dry eye in the house. Even veteran Marines were crying their eyes out. They stood proud but the tears just flowed like rivers from their eyes. When the final salute came, their jaws were set like granite but the tears were still there. Semper Fi Marines.
My dad served with the 1st Marine division during World War II. Five beach landings including Peleliu and Okinawa. Its hard to listen to this theme without missing him, thinking about what he went thru. I'm not worthy to carry the boots that man wore.
YOu are worthy to carry his boots. He carried you in his heart all that time. We in turn, carry him, you and millions of others with us every day. The Greatest Generation, and they were. Salute to you sir. 9th Infantry 7th SF Grp ARVN 1972-1982
My Grandfather Glen was on a Boat full of Ammo for the Marines in all those battles. We need more people like that. They were truly the Greatest Generation.
@Michael Cueva Thank you. My Dad was at the Pacific Theater. He refused to be called a hero. “The heroes are those who didn’t make it back”, he would say.
this reminds me of my grandfather. served in WW2 in the Pacific. the most honest, good, and light hearted man ive ever known. he will always be a hero to me.
You can always tell the combat vets from the major wars. They are always quiet, reserved and want nothing more than peace. They have seen the other side and they all say it is the worst of mankind. Great men who were damaged and cut so deeply. Thankful for their service but sorry we, as a world, put them there
YES! This music’s so glorious! All believers and followers of Jesus Christ are God’s soldiers/knights and we will be included in the final war once our King The Lord Jesus Christ returns! So we should always put the Armor of God all the time and be ready to fight the evil. 🙏🏻
I watched all of "The Pacific" with tears in my eyes trying comprehend what my father Thomas "Red" Mikita (1920-2002) endured as a member of the 31st Infantry Division, survivor of the Bataan Death March, hellship and, POW of the Japos. Please rest in peace Pop.
Ajw, it must be very hard to even have the slightest idea what those men went through. What a generation! Real men for sure. You must be very proud and I'm sure he rests in peace knowing he did a great job
I’m from the Philippines where the Bataan Death March happened. A snappy salute to your father! 🫡 Thank you for being one of the warriors who liberated my country during WW2! 🫡🇵🇭🇺🇸
I always think of my uncle Raymond, my dad's kid brother, who was a Marine infantryman, wounded, and sole survivor of his squad that departed 29 Palms CA in 1943. PTSD for the rest of his life. He died alone, a bachelor, in the same studio apartment he lived in for 40 years. 😢
Hermano espero que descanse en paz ya que fueron muchachos que dejaron su inocencia en el campo de batalla y lo más duro ser el único sobreviviente de su escuadrón.
Hearing this makes me think back to my last deployment to Iraq. My unit was across the street from Sadr City and we were cut off and surrounded for 73 days. I had the honor of serving and fighting along with some of the bravest and most selfless men I ever met in my military career. During that deployment I lost two good friends and this makes me wish I could go back and say thank you for being my friend. I miss them all so much and the end makes me think of the homecoming after that deployment when I finally got to hold my infant daughter in my arms for the first time.
Eric Seymore I'm glad you got home safe to your family. I would like to thank you and everyone else that fights in our arm forces that keep us safe and to those that pay the ultimate sacrifice and don't get to see there family's. We can never repay or thank you enough.
Hey,your a warrior my friend and warriors always think of their fallen brethren. Do the best you can,and know that's all one can do. I've never experienced war, thanks to men like you. But my grandfather was in the hurtgen forest, battle of the bulge in ww2. Also a POW. He never talked about the war. Only bits here and there. But he never let what he experienced rule him. He devoted his time to family, work and God. And fishing too:) All I can say is thank you,and honor your brothers by,living and being a good father. You'll do well I'm sure..god bless you.
Thanks to you and the men of your unit Mr. Seymore! Without folks like you, we exist as a people able to speak, pray (or not, for some), think and act as we’d like - of our own free will.
I can feel the emotion through the music... sadness and sorrow, but more profoundly the selflessness, honor and sacrifice. I am proud to be an American, and though I can never truly thank these marines for my freedom, I can ever attempt to through my actions. God bless these men and God bless America!
The emotion, flow and passion of this performance is as perfect as one can get. Even with mediocre audio, the feeling of this performance comes through the speakers unlike any I’ve heard. The crying violin is masterful. The conductor perfectly articulates his desired emotion to the orchestra and they in turn do not disappoint in returning his wishes. It’s a simple song but the chords and disharmony perfectly articulate what the writer is trying to say. Every note is where it should be. A sad but proud song that honors the men who fought in the Pacific it truly is.
me too right now.. I've lost everyone I ever loved, they all died.. sometimes I don't know how to carry on and wish it would have been me instead of my mother and brother but when I hear this kind of soundtracks it brings back hope and pride. I loved those tv shows. not because they're cool or shit. But because it shows you that you are not alone . I've never served but always found to be closer to the characters in the series instead of people I know for real. Because those people (in the series) know what it's like to loose somebody, and give everything you have to offer, which most people my age have not experienced yet
Our freedom did not come free. Thank you to all the men and women who went to serve this nation. Some lost their lives but never died. Some came home but never came back. If you are any indication of what America is all about, then we will always be a sovereign and free country.
I played this song at my fathers funeral in respect of his service / I owe all I have in my life to him and my mother the taught me a work ethic ‘ and was not a dry eye in the congregation after the song ended.Thank you dad and to all of your comrades in the service that did the exact same thing to their children of the Greatest Generation
My child’s HS orchestra just played this at their last concert and it just made my heart stop and the tears flow from the beginning. Years of listening to little kids squeak through pieces was totally worth it. My heart just about burst.
From the opening bell, to the last final draw of the violins, I am with such a deep heavy heart. They gave everything they had and more... and we, owe them, so much more... If , by the end of this, you're not moved in some manner, check your pulse. To every single one and the family members that I read so often from, this old tired veteran salutes you. You made this nation.
The Absolute Greatest Generation Ever! My Dad was in the Army, First Calvary 15 or 18 Regiment in the Korean War. He never talked about the War even as he was departing this World to a Better place. These Vets go through more stuff than anyone can imagine. My heart goes out to All of them. God Bless them All.
My name is Ali from Iraq when I watched this series so I was affected by many of it. I cried a lot. Music was a pioneer and beautiful in every episode of the series was very impressed
Keep coming back to this, nice little added touch with the vocals too, gives me chills. John Basilone, Robert Leckie and Eugene Sledge brought me here 👍🏻👍🏻
I was in awe and moved with this masterpiece! I’m no musician at all, I just like music overall and my mind was so blown away and puzzled the first time I heard this and thinking how did they come up or compose with such a masterpiece like this? If I were the composer I’d be so proud especially if it’s dedicated to war heroes! THIS MUSIC’S SO GLORIOUS!
My Father was also part of the 1st Marine Division and served on both Peleliu (18 days) and Okinawa (31 days) at the old age of 18 years old , receiving a Purple Heart in each battle. I have his book that the 1st Marines put out after WW2. On a map of the Pacific Ocean on the inside cover of that book, he wrote where he went, dates and where he was shot on each island. Every time I see parts of this incredible movie I think of him and the sacrifices of the men and women that did not make it home to their love ones. I cherish the memories of knowing such Men and Women of the greatest generation that gave so much for our freedom. He never talked to anyone about what he witnessed except for a few Marine buddies that would stop later as the years past. As an interesting side note: My dads job in the 60s and 70s was a beer truck drive and one of his delivery spots was NAS Whidbey Island, WA. He used to let me ride with him as a kid for the fun of it I guess. (you would never be able to do that today for sure) On one delivery we went into the Officers Club on the base. I still remember all these guys with medals on their chests coming up to my Father to shake his hand and talk to him. I thought at the time, why are they all talking to the delivery guy?. Later as I grew up, I learned of his war record and that moment in the officers club hit home. He was not a delivery guy to those fighting men. They were talking to one of "The Old Breed". His exploits were known among those that served. It did not matter who was an officer or some delivery guy. They were all fighting men and recognized that in him. RIP to all.
It doesn’t matter weather your black or white or Asian or Hispanic we all stand as brothers and sisters and we still fight for the freedom of this great nation under god may god bless America and all the men and women who died to defend it
I work for the private army aroumd the world and i have to a lots of story to tell about those fightings i have fought...this music is like a story teller for me. We are soldiers, we will die in the field with all those emotion and stories. That's something no one will understand accept us. Hurraaaaaaaaaah!
Realizing that we are finally in the last years of the WW2 veterans' lifetime is disheartening. Yet this fact shouldn't stop us from remembering once again, before they pass, their service and sacrifice to their nations. It is an honor living just in time to hear their stories while they still live.
The Pacific was a war of brutality. But the men endured. All sides, Japanese, Australians, British, and American and so many more. All of these men can now lay to rest in the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the many tropical islands for their fight is over. Foes before, now friends in eternal peace.
