Nice title sequence it looks quite slick and sets the tone well, I believe a final version would need station shots, spacecraft shots, federation troops and perhaps settling on a panorama of the crew, something to introduce and titillate. While its not beyond imagination that they could reboot the show in much the same way as Star Trek the Next Generation did with the original series I don't have much faith in the current BBC doing a good job with it.

I suspect if Blakes Seven ever is relaunched for television I strongly suspect the arch-enemy and series main villain Servalan herself would no doubt be introduced in the pilot episode instead of been absent for the first 5 episodes of the first series of Blakes Seven and also arch-villain Servalan was the ultimate and best Blakes Seven villain ever is without a doubt .I also have always said and believed out of the series main villains Servalan and Travis and out of the two regular villains Servalan and Travis I always preferred Servalan as a villain and as a character to Travis and also I was glad that Servalan stayed in Blakes Seven for all four seasons . The fact that Travis departs from the series in the season two finale is a good thing but really Travis should have departed from the a series 13 episodes earlier and in season 2 arch-enemy Servalan should have been given a new lackey like Carnell or even Provine or alternatively had Croucher cast as a totally new character with a completely new name would have been better or structure season season 2 of B7 like seasons 3 and 4 where the arch-villain Servalan herself is teamed with one-off lackies and that would have been an awesome idea . I would say it was a ten billions pity that the villain Dev Tarrant from the pilot episode the Way Back even though Dev Tarrant was seen to survive the episode he was never seen again or even mentioned again a shame in billions of ways and IMO Dev Tarrant could have ben brought back as arch-enemy and arch-villain Servalans new lackey for season 2 that would have been awesome in trillions of ways
Given that a lot of the actors were dead by the time this video was published, this is unfortunately nothing more than a well imagined what-if. Also, Gareth Thomas demanded his character's death, with obvious blood, so there would be no way you'd ever get him back even if they were all still alive.
Blake may of died during the final episode, but there was a clone of Blake that existed in canon, so if Gareth Thomas was available and willing, it wasn't impossible.
@@locutus155 If what I read was correct, Gareth Thomas may have been fed up with playing Blake and the writers didn't find an alternative actor to fit his role. It is for that reason that Blake was gone for two seasons and that he most obviously died in the last episode. (Though rather than having Blake go (while alive and well) and return later on, they could have had him get severely injured after Liberator's near-destruction. Then he could, depending on the injuries, show up covered in bandages (like Joshua Graham in the game Fallout: New Vegas), which would allow for him to be recast. The difference in his voice, as the new actor tries to pull of a voice-impression of the original Blake, could then also be attributed to Blake's sustained injuries. Though I suppose there may be a reason as to why they did not pick that option, it remains an interesting what-if scenario of wishful thinking.)
As a musician brought up in the era I don't mind this modern take however... we were all living in the shadow of WW II while the threat of the Iron Curtain and nuclear war was constantly on the minds of the world community. This show represented everything that Russia threatened; totalitarian government in the forms of George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. The original music exemplified the totalitarian threat specifically in the last two chords that boldly underscored the dystopian world that the main characters contest. This version has pretty embellishments that lack the understanding of and reduce the weight of the overarching threat within which the world of Blakes 7 resides.
No, look, the music for B7 is a counter-point. The Federation's anthem is intentionally militaristic and dour, to contrast with the Liberation theme which is uplifted but nebulous. This version screws both aspects up. If you're going to do this sort of thing, at least have some idea what you're doing. Dunno if the endless shots of misty terrain is CGI or stock but, it's a sci fi show. Spaceships. Robots. Lasers. All that jazz. This looks almost exactly like a monotonous dreary documentary on how the end of the world is nigh. Plus, I hate to break it to you but many of the cast are dead. Could you not even come up with a current cast suggestion? It's not all that hard. Lemme show ya. Blake - John Sim Avon - Rufus Sewell Vila - Marc Warren Jenna - Lucy Boynton Cally - Hermione Norris Gan - Phil Glenister Zen - Mark Strong Orac - Stephen Fry Servalan - Sarah Alexander Travis - Martin Compston All of ten minutes. @@Belzediel Not me imagining a Blake's 7 fugue for a second there... Nope... not me... :D As far as I know, some of the original actors are still alive, though obviously too old for a reboot. If one were to instead make a sequel set a few decades after the original series, that might work. One could also abandon the original characters and make new ones with a new story set in the same world (events and characters from B7 could be mentioned there as part of the world's history and lore). The main problem with a reboot would be the original series itself: The reboot would have quite the shoes to fill. As another commenter described it (under a different video, though): No individual aspect of Blake's 7 is, in itself, spectacular; yet when combined, they form a marvellous show.

I don't think B7 could work without an Avon, and I don;t really think a sequel would make much sense. The Federation is gone, there's no one to be an underdog to, and if you created one, you're just filing down the numbers, aren't you? I'd be very happy to be proven wrong, of course, I just think a lot of the appeal of B7 is stuff you can't remove. Losing the Liberator lost them the show, remember. One of the things I am working on (hence doing the London plans linked above) is an HC rewrite. And yes, actually doing it, not just thinking about it) Halfway through at this point and one of the notable things is, aside from swapping out minor technical fluffs (removing computeroid tape capsules and putting in memory lattice, etc etc) , scripts for B7 are either damn near perfect or so silly they ought just be thrown away.
