In 1953, Blancpain introduced the world's first true diving watch, the Fifty Fathoms. Its name referred to a British depth measurement, which equals 91 meters or 300 feet: at the time the deepest depth that any watch could reach.
Later that year, Rolex introduced the Submariner, but only the Blancpain could be used for diving with compressed air, because it had a unidirectional bezel.
The following 7 watches offer a similarly classic look and feel, for far less money than the 12000$ of the Fifty Fathoms:
-Yema Pearldiver (750$): eu.yema.com/pr...
ORIGIN: FRANCE
-Baltic Aquascaphe (700$): baltic-watches...
ORIGIN: FRANCE
-Le Forban Sécurité Mer (500$): leforbansecurit...
ORIGIN: FRANCE
-Spinnaker Fleuss (285-300$): amzn.to/3dBDw80
ORIGIN: GREAT BRITAIN
-Undone Basecamp (300$): www.undone.com...
ORIGIN: HONG KONG
Casio MTD-1053D (70$): amzn.to/3A48IUY
ORIGIN:JAPAN

@@ManlyWatchesbut you don't say which alternate is which price - so I still don't know which is the cheaper end; those at the beginning or those at the end, assuming they are is ascending or descending price order. Please give us all a clue. And you did not include the Blancpain-Swatch.

I think a good watch to add to your list would be the Casio Duro with the black dial.

The best alternative is the certina ds ph200m ceramic lineup.

@@ManlyWatches it's a very tasteful homage to the design of the fifty fathoms mixed with Certinas own design for the classic pH diver. I own one myself but it couldn't truly take away my desire for the fifty fathoms.

Great compilation. I would add the *Richard LeGrand Oceanfarer* to this selection. In my opinion the most Bathyscaphe looking watch.

Many thanks! I will make some day a brand video for Richard LeGrand, thanks for the suggestion!

@@ManlyWatches I'm looking forward for that video. Usually I'm not a fan of microbrands. But at RLG you see a real enthusiast who also fell in love to the clean design of BlancPain.
