The ont thing that stunned me was Friedrich's ability to quiet a whole full stadium that holds its breath without the slightest noise. That was really INTENSE !
What was left out of this video is Anna Chicherova winning the silver. The competition for medals was between the three women, not just the two in the video. In 2016. (7 years after this event) a retest showed a positive steroid test for Chicherova in the 2008 Olympics. She was retroactively disqualified from the 2008 Olympics and the event in this video (2009 World Championships). This elevated Friedrich to Silver. Yet, that couldn’t have been known at the time this video was posted so why wasn’t she included?
Tonko Prčić Never proved. Never failed a dope test, was vehemently against drugs. Never a breath of scandal about her. Of all the Eastern bloc athletes from back then, she was the only one that went on after the fall of communism and kept winning. She had the technique, the training and the mental strength, plus she was just a perfect genetic fit for the high jump. Think about it....you don't WANT bulk in the high jump, and she was skinny as a rail, and she trained like a beast. Her record is NOT tainted, and never will be.
