Great review, my daily is a 2017 RS6 performance and I’ve now done 14000 miles it’s still on it’s original tyres and they still have 4mm all round, last week it had its first oil service £260 plus vat, it now says I’ve got another 8000 miles until it’s first full service, and I drive it hard, last year took it the lakes where I live to Marbella for 8 weeks and back and it’s done a few car tours, it’s an amazing daily to sit by my 488 ( taking the 488 on a France, Switzerland, Italy Germany tour next week with a bunch of guys ! I’ve been scratching my head on the RS6 replacement and after lots of test drives I’ve decided to wait fir next years new RS6, best car I’ve ever had and I’ve a a few !
colin Monk thanks Colin. It truly is a great car and I’ve also thought about test the Merc equivalent but it’s a hard act to follow. Good to hear you’re using it too! Good luck on your trip in the 488 it’ll be amazing.
Another great video, love Portugal and the car. It’s on my bucket list to drive through Europe in a great car so at least you provide directions lol. Have to ask how many petrol stops did you make as I imagine RS6 fully loaded with kids n gear would hamper the mpg 👍
Bloody great video and makes me want an RS6 even more. But probably when we get back to the UK from living in Singapore, as the buggers here cost nearly £300,000 new. In fact, there’s a 2015 (non Performance) model available at £205,000. Yikes. Awesome car and thanks for the vid; enjoyed watching it
Great video Jason. The RS6 is a lot of car and very usable family friendly motorway cruiser it’s chews them up! I miss mine (on my regret list of mistakes made!)
Had the chance to drive my friends 2014 RS6 and I agree with you, an absolutely bomb proof machine and feels planted whether doing 50mph or 150mph. The incredible soundtrack just adds to the experience. Great job, enjoyed this and subbed 👊
Unfortunately not so bomb proof, they have a very prevalent issue with early turbo failure due to clogging of the oil screens. Audi are of course very silent on this matter. Regretfully this occurs with a good percentage of the 4.0 twin turbo engines across all models it is fitted to
Great video, just completed nearly the same trip in my 1978 Saab 99 Turbo! It was amazing we went from Glasgow - Rouen on Day 1, Rouen - Vitoria on Day 2 and Vitoria - Marbella on Day 3 and spent a week down there. Was so good. Ended up on the Le Mans track by total mistake trying to find a petrol station.
Hi Jason really enjoyed that, can't believe the MPG I have the face lift version, not much difference, and always say if you could only have one car in your life, well this would be it for me and I suspect a top 3 for most people unless they just don't like or care about performance. Small tip don't leave the whole car in comfort mode, I did once and went to use the performance to get me out of trouble and the car took for ever to kick down and made a difficult situation very dangerous obviously you can customise almost everything... I had assumed if you mash the carpet, it will jump into dynamic, but not that quickly it transpires.
Alan Hunt thanks Alan. I was frankly shocked by the MPG but I guess once it gets on a run and shuts down 4 cylinders then it can be quite economical; I saw 30 on one leg across Spain! The comfort mode thing can be tricky, I experienced the same thing so I got in the habit of switching to Dynamic whenever I thought I might need it.
I want one so much..only stumbling block is the Insurance Costs..would be great if you can give a idea how much these amazing cars cost to Insure year by year...fab video 👍👍🤛
That’s why I’ve had my B5 RS4 for nearly 13 years ! Does everything so well apart from track days but I have a track focused car for that. Lovely car the C7 RS6 looking forward to the next new model
Excellent video and review. Probably the perfect road trip destinations in the perfect car. How can anyone not love an RS6 Avant? The overnight ferry from Santander is worth its weight in gold.
Ahhhh the AP7, We Drove from Paris To Javea once in 11 hours and we took a little look at Salou on the way, Sure we where only 18, We where over taken though even sitting at the 100 ish mark.
Had my RS6 for just under a year now. Fantastic on a long haul; I use it to drive to and from London each week from South Wales. Lacks soul though, not exciting enough in the twisty stuff, but in a straight line it’s like nothing else I have driven. Space for the dog and 0-60 in under 4 secs. It’s amazing.
Love the RS6. I have a 2015 RS3 which has a similar split personality. The out of warranty bills would worry me on a high mileage car though. Cracking review!!!
Kai Süße so difficult to find something that works. I used these baby 1st Universal Tablet Car Seat/Headrest Mount/Cradle/Holder for iPad Mini|iPhone| Kindle Fire| Samsung Galaxy| Nexus| LG| Huawei| Honor| HTC| Smartphone Holder. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DM3R2QQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yO.OBb1J0QR9M they aren’t perfect but they grip enough at an angle to use.
Mate that's definetly not the way to get to Portugal, takes AGES. Portsmouth - Santander ferry, just drive down. After you enter in Spain, you can start the vacations, plenty of cool places in the North of Spain and the North of Portugal.
That's if you put standard unleaded in it! I run shell V-Power exclusively in mine (runs like a dream) and it is now over £100 per fill up which on Motorway miles would give 380 miles to a tank so would be a £1000K for those miles. Looks like an awesome road trip though.
Just by guessing you were looking for a garage on Wednesday the 15th August which is national holiday in every Catholic country so pretty much Half of Europe...
Well done Jason, been waiting patiently for this, brilliant footage and concisely edited, cannot believe how empty and smooth those roads are, I drive a lorry for a living and some days it's absolute brain damage. I would love to do a road trip like that, in fact saving up to do the petrolheads alpine tour next year , if all go's to plan. Extra points for the Renault Alpine GTA and the D type caught on camera. Many thanks. 👏👏👏
Little test drive tomorrow from the same garage I got my current car from..... It’s the Performance Version & I cant sleep I’m that giddy.....so why not make myself even more giddy and watch this.......again.......😜
TheCarGuys.TV You two are incorrigible!!! Oh I Bought it, alright; Nogaro Blue, as I said it’s the Performance version, full Alcantara steering wheel, sunroof like yours had and the noise, oh the noise..................it’s fucking rude on over run in the dynamic setting. The pops bangs and farts are ridiculous. I had an XFR with a sports exhaust and an E63s and neither of them sounded like this..... I love the colour. I’m glad I listed to you - I was buying it anyway on your recommendation yesterday and your Video with it. That’s some clout you fellas have! Influencers I think they call it in social media land. I told Redline that I took it over the Panamera Turbo S ( Redline have the Audi) on your advice......send them an Invoice! Thank you for your advice. I’m buzzing.
TheCarGuys.TV Definitely, 🥰 thanks again for your input Both of you. The whole spec of the car 🚙 (it’s still on Redline`s website as of 10am today) is perfect for me. I’m very much into the colour Blue. So there’s the bodywork, the blue stitching on the seats, blue stitching in the leather...around the inner door handles, blue tint running through the carbon weave, blue stitching on the Alcantara Steering Wheel & almost Black (Murder) Tints windows from the rear doors onwards. It’s also on the RS Sports suspension - springs not air..... I may be wrong but I think the colour is the same as the original RS2. It’s going to be a long wait till Friday.......
No doubt it's a very capable car but it just looks too big and not that pretty in my eyes. I've always liked the size and look of the rs4 more but it isn't as quick.
R m I don’t think there is too much in it in normal conditions but I do love the size and space. We sat in a 4 last week at Poole Audi and it did feel cramped compared to the 6
AUDI RS6 is the preferred escape car for criminals and therefore is high on the stolen car list! So not really worthwhile all the shit & and nerve wrecking moments owning one!
On the Continent with excellent Autoroutes A6 RS is though by criminals and therefore high on the list of stolen cars. Probably UK with less highways it's different and thereby less stolen.
