As we discover and explore new places all over the Gambia during Lock Down we find available plots of land that you can acquire to have Your Place in the Sun! We teamed up with Mansa from Temdri World to ensure you could see larger shots from an ariel view using his drone.We will be looking at plots near the sea near rivers in remote places and commercial and Tourist areas. So you can start making your home here in Africa in the Gambia.

Land near water looks like marsh land. It is quite beautiful though. With building on this type of land, I would be concerned with frequent flooding, so I would build property at highest altitude and possibly with stilt-like foundation.

I know this area in Sanyang, and the exact spot where Juliet wahsed her feet, is exactly 870m from the sea, and NOT 1000m from the sea, as stated by the gentleman in the video. Under Gambian law, any land purchased by a non Gambian MUST be MORE than 1500m (1.5km) inland from the sea shore; and more than 800m inland from the sea shore for Gambians. 800m inland from the seas shore, is the Tourist Development Area or TDA Zone and it is NOT for sale. Businesses can only access TDA land if they wish to invest in a tourism related business; and can ONLY apply to LEASE lands within this Zone, from the government for a number of years only, and the application itself is subject to numerous stipulations from the Gambian Tourist Board. If you drive up and down the coastal highways, there are many signs warning people against buying or selling land within the TDA 800m zone. Sanyang which is the first location featured in this video, is a beautiful coastal fishing village with gorgeous beaches. But the prime beach side lands are ALL inside the TDA, ie, 800m from the seashore. And the Sanyang plots featured in the video are between 870m (point where Juliet washed her feet) from the sea and about 1400m from the sea at the other end of the 700m down the road she first pointed out at the beginning of the video...therefore the plots cannot be sold to nor can it be bought by any non-Gambian under Gambian law, because it is less than 1500m from the sea.

Yes I will . I've actually got several issues as the society here is different. E.g. GDP and National Debt and the usual perimeters are not good barometers. Many people are self employed and larger corporations pay in terms of Gambian standards of living. Also family compounds and collective living differs greatly. E.g. some people earn just 3,500 Dalasies per month but their rent is 800 Dalasies . So it depends on that and the family structure. E.g. social security exists here. But the benefits system is different. Families look after their own. some people use coal and are off the grid and would be considered to be poor but own and farm hectares of land. But choose to live simple lives. So it's challenging to explain . Africa is Africa and Europe is Europe and Africa is Africa. Shipping embargoes and charges and unfairly imposed on African Nations etc so there are complex issues around a standard of life or average wage. poverty and wealth co exist in the same space

That looks more like crude oil pollution. I saw something similar to that in Ogoni Land Nigeria after Shell stopped operations. If you look closely at the viscosity of the water flowing by the shoreline you can see it contains oil . It's quite possible some dumping of oil, or run-off from industry might have taken place. I find it difficult to believe that someone would not have realized already that there was oil there for exploration. Just my opinion...
