So underrated...a much needed breath of fresh air in classic metal singing. We all love the tenors but damn it's good to hear a power baritone once in a while!

Blaze is a class act. He deserves credit for being honest about his time in maiden. His voice wasn't compatible with some songs but Bruce isn't to his.
Sudsy Sutherland Bruce is the best but paul and blaze did a superb job for the time. Just think about paul's remember tomorrow" and twilight's zone and then blaze lord of the flies' and Virus'🤘🤘🤘
What he did in maiden still can't be reproduced 😎👌 it's funny, blaze can't do what Dickinson can do but neither can Bruce do what blaze did. I always wanted them to sing together in octave and harmony 😎🤘🔥♥️👏 love them both.
I wonder if he didn't have as much freedom then as he does now. The being said, imagine being a bit player in the scene only to by asked to fill Bruce's shoes. That is a TON of pressure. Hindsight probably gave him time to loosen up.
People forget that Blaze had a MAJOR biking accident in the early 90s that would have severely impacted his ability to sing (stamina e.t.c) for a considerable period.
I'm one of the thousands nº1 Maiden fans that were really happy with Bruce's return. But Blaze, 100% respect, this version is amazing and you should be proud. I'm also a fan of you and I always listen to your albums. I wish you the best, and thanks for this :)
They cut Blaze loose because he "wasn't Pepsi". In other words, the venues got smaller. The goal was to make money. If the goal was altruistic, meaning who "lived" Maiden, he would still be singing today. Blaze was and still is the real deal.By FAR my favorite 2 albums are the Blaze Albums. I look at BD and all the sissy outfits he's worn and his girly hair bangs and it just ruins the Maiden experience for me. What takes the cake however was the deal to get him back. SH sold his soul (and his band out) for BD's return. The " Deal" was never disclosed, but SH who FOUNDED and LEADS the band is worth $30 million today, and BD NOW has a net worth of $150 million ?!?!?!? I don't need to see the details of the deal !!! There is no (Metal) God

Steve really fucked up by not doing that when blaze was part of the band, if Judas Priest did it for Ripper why the fuck not doing the same? it would even made "back then" the band sound "fresher" and heavier against the industrial, nu and groove bands.
I fight for this idea years now with my friends... Everything would be different if Maiden changed their tunning back then. THe shows would be better and the acceptance would be better and the third album would be a reallity. Blaze is a barytone and it was wrong move Maiden not changing the tune. Now in tuned a half tone down in his live shows, he sounds really great and lovelly and 1000 times better than then. I saw him last mont in his European tour, and he is absolutely FANTASTIC. ALSO HIS SOLO ALBUMS ARE MASTERPIECES!!!

Always thought he was a bit of an arse (entirely based on 90s interviews and the Massive noise injection live album), until I seen him with wolfsbane a few months ago. Can't believe how wrong I was. Top guy
Blaze got a raw deal. Would have been nice to hear his rendition on some of these classics if Maiden would have tuned down to give the guy a chance. Of course Bruce will always be the man.
I sincerely believe that blaze impregnates you more emotion that Bruce when singing, intense in your body expression, i love it as you turn your hands to give you the emphasis of what you're singing.

And even though it sounds great this way, if they did back then, the idiots of the world would fall onto blaze bayley saying he wasn't good enough to sing them in the "studio key" and that he would've been a wrong choice. Pode ter carisma. Mas ele é um cantor extremamente limitado. Tem dificuldade pada alcançar tonais mais altos. E isso gerou muita insatisfação dos fãs. Chegou a levar muita cusparada nos shows.
Oi tudo bom. Sinceramente não considero o blaze bayley limitado. Simplesmente o blaze é um barítono e o bruce é um tenor. O bruce canta predominantemente na quarta e quinta oitava. Enquanto o blaze canta na terceira e quarta. Se analisarmos bem, ambos cantam predominante em duas oitavas. Não pq um seja melhor que outro, mas sim pq é mais confortável para ambos que assim o seja. Cantar em tons mais agudos, não significa que a sua extensão seja maior, ou que seja um melhor cantor. Pois se uma pessoa canta sempre no agudo, provavelmente os seus graves são mt fracos ou inexistentes. O blaze tem sim dificuldade em cantar em tons altos, pq a voz dele não é para tal. A voz dele brilha nos médios e é super consistente nos graves.Da mesma forma que o bruce cantando em tons graves é extremamente limitado. Mas os seus médios são consistentes, e nos agudos o mesmo brilha. São duas vozes completamente diferentes. Espero que não leve a mal a minha colusão, mas achei importante referir isto 😊.
wow... I'm actually enjoying listening Maiden Dickinson songs with Bayley a lot more than with Bruce himself. Time has been really generous with Blaze, he sounds fucking amazing! HUGE voice.
Some songs were really good for him, heaven can wait and afraid to shoot strangers sound better with blaze, i dont get why steve had him singing halowed be thy name instead of stuff like seventh son, wasted love, revelations or holy smoke
Tons of haters here, but this wasn't a bad performance. There's some live shows in the 90s where he just wasn't so good, but that's alright. Also, X-Factor is an album on constant rotation. Keep kicking ass, Blaze!

This show that Blaze can sing Iron Maiden songs with different tuning!! Blaze kick ass when sings with different tuning :D If Iron Maiden at the time changed style and tuning maybe would have been better adapted to the Maiden!
Agent 313 you may have a point but maiden has always been uncompromising especially Steve and personally I don't want to hear maiden Detune their old songs the point is Bruce is the voice of maiden the way halford is the voice of priest but blaze did his best during his time with maiden but he could not hit the notes in the older songs without straining his voice and his singing was not as developed as it is now as for Paul dianno he had the talent and could have had the range like halford with the highs but he choose to blow his voice on drugs like cocaine and smoking which hurt his voice at least blaze tried his best and gave 100 percent during his time with maiden
Bruce Dickinson is Iron Maiden voice and i agree on this, but at the time, if Steve choose Blaze as new singer, at my personal opinion, he should changed style and tunings. Blaze can't sing Bruce Dickinson songs with high tones, if he (steve harris) didn't want to change his style, he had to catch a singer with a voice similar to Bruce's voice (or a singer with power metal style tones). Sorry for my bad english.
Agent 313 Andre Matos who was then in angra auditioned and so did james labrie of dream theatre Andre Matos could have easily handled maiden materiel without detuning but then again if Steve chose those guys the demand for Bruce to return might not have happened but here's the catch they were going to look for another singer even if Bruce had not returned be in other words blaze was going to get replaced anyway
For sure. It was a doomed idea to have Blaze sing original Maiden songs in the standard tuning. I really admire Maiden, Blaze and Steve Harris, but he really made the band sound unprofessional because of not tuning the guitars even half step down.
His audition for Maiden have told everything eaven back then! All Dianno stuff he blitzed, no suprise cause its similar range but some Bruces songs where too much for him, especeally The Tropper or Halloweed Be Thy Name! Bruce is heart of those classics but for a man of Harris music calibre not to realize that Blaze have completely different range was a sloppy! More songs from Dianno era and simple tuning down for couple of classics would have done wonders and mark my words, bruce would have been forgotten very soon!

Anyone remember Wolfsbane? They were excellent. I saw Maiden with Blaze and I was not impressed. It never occurred to me that a simple downtuning would improve things so much. In retrospect it is harsh to select a specific vocalist and then not play your music to compliment their range!!
He's a great singer and songwriter. Using his voice in the right key and range would have a made a great new iron maiden after years of bruce, the maiden albums after Blaze are great but it would have been fantastic to see them go into a different sound and direction with blaze
Imagine if they'd just tuned down the other classic för Blaze such as "The number of the Beast" and "The Trooper".. It probably would have sounded much better.
It seems strange this was such an issue. You'd think Harris and company would have foreseen this issue before they hired Blaze. He's got a great voice, but notably deeper than Bruce's. They could have either chosen to accommodate that by tuning their gear down, or picked a different singer. Either would have worked. Weird that they chose the Titanic-style route and hired him and had him performed songs while doomed to fail. X-Factor is still fucking amazing, though.
This is a wonderful rendition of one of my favorites from the mighty maiden! The band is phenomenal as well! Any maiden song is awfully difficult! Bravo!!🤘🤘

Ben Dover considering there are only two and they're both singer I'm not sure how well that would work out. you'd have Paul who can't sing at all, Dickinson who sings too much and Bayley who is a totally different key from either of the former, I'd love to see it but idk if it'd be that great unless they took turns because they can't harmonize xD

Blaze e Di'Anno tiveram problemas com álcool (Blaze) e drogas (Paul). Bruce nunca usou isso, sempre foi atleta. Apesar do aspecto gordo e envelhecido, Blaze está cantando hoje melhor do que na época do Iron Maiden, pois ele passa mais segurança e percebe-se que canta mais com o coração. Hoje ele canta suas próprias músicas e toca para os seus fãs (antes, tocava para fãs do Iron Maiden).
Pra mim o único q consegue substituir o Bruce é Blaze Bayley. Amo Bruce mais gostei do blaze estilo voz muito bom para uma banda como Iron Maiden. Mais quero o Bruce no Iron Maiden enquanto tiver vida 😍😘 Iron sem Bruce não é msm coisa
Went to see Wolfsbane at the Marquee club in London (years before he join Maiden) got there really early and was one of the first in ... Then some guy came up to me and asked it I take his picture in front of the stage for him...it was none other then Blaze himself \m/
Wow.....i have never heard him sing i am absolutely embarrassed i never embraced Iron Maidens Blaze days...sad on my part i know...he has a fantastic voice and he seems like one of the nicest guys ever...
My opinion is that Paul is absolute the best one!Bruce's voice is better anyway, but I prefer raw, original, specific sound of songs with Paul, for me, that's real and the best heavy metal. This man, Blaze, has also strong,good voice and he is the part of IM anyway, he just left sign in their music, especially in songs like Blood on the world's hand and Virus.

O vocalista da banda que abriu os shows deles na excursão do Fear of the Dark. A imprensa e os fãs apostavam no Kiske do Helloween, que se ofereceu. Até o André Matos, que tbm se ofereceu, ficaria muuuuuito melhor. Mas....

Blaze's voice has aged well. Don't get me wrong; Bruce is a legend but I think he was past his prime by the late 90's or early 00's at the latest. I'm not a musician so I cannot evaluate it on a professional level but his voice took on a lower, raspy tone suggestive of aging and on some level it made him redundant as the vocal lead that people used to know but he managed to ride his past success all the way to today as he's still recognizable as the same guy.
