Thank you, Otis. Blaze's story seems like it could be about so many people, yet it's entirely Blaze. Even as a late-comer to his music. I'm glad there are folks around like Gurf to tell his story, and I appreciate that his music was recorded. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. The tragedy in the comedy. Many thanks to Gurf for the stories. Happy Friday. Gonna go listen to some Blaze and some Gurf. Be good to you 🤍

I am a former Austin resident and UT alumnus (in the 1980's). I also played and sang on Sixth Street on the week-ends--making like $20 per hour with almost all of it in quarters and dimes. Listen to Gurf Morlix singing the song "Thinking About the Music You Might've Made." It's about Blaze.

I love listening to the Austin locals talk about their memories of Blaze. That documentary film about his life is amazing. I have a copy of the recording done at the Outhouse. He was exceptional. Also love Gurf for all that he has done. Also love Kimmie who sang at his funeral.

Drunken Angel. Such a tragic life. I first learned of Blaze (and Gurf) as a Lucinda fan. Read a lot of stories about him. Such a shame he never got to see any kind of real success or know how many people would come to appreciate him.

I totally relate to this one, ive led a spotty life and I've been a homeless addict and I've known talented people who lived on the edge of self destruction. I've been sober over 20 years now. But hanging out with people like this, is like rubbernecking a traffic accident , you know it's wrong but you can't look away. I never did know what time to leave the party. But to the people who think you can't change , you can . believe in yourself

I enjoy Blaze’s music very much. This story today was terribly right on in its truthfulness about Blaze's life. So many of these wonderful musicians abused themselves. It almost seems a requirement of the life they lived in order to write the music they wrote. Yet, so many songwriters have not done this and survived (I know he died from a gunshot wound). I guess that is a reflection of the difference in all our lives.

OTIS, sad life of angels flying to close to the ground , their music was hunting and real. Writing songs like Towns and Blaze did , it would take a toll on anybody giving so much of their souls. God bless these musical hobos. God bless you OTIS for telling the stories.

I really liked this interview, and he's such a relatable person. Every scenario, you feel like you've been there too, and in a way, so have I. Wished I could have seen and known Blaze, and it sounds like he had a good friendship with Gurf. I have a few autographs, and I cherish mine of Gurf and Lucinda. Great stuff

God Otis, That was hard to listen to. It’s a thin line between Genius and madman and Men like Townes and Blaze were cut from similar cloth. The psyche of people like this has always found me interested. What happens to oneself to end up that way. A deep mental issue or a soul crushing occurrence perhaps. Anyway The song. Cold cold world has always resonated with me. The lyrics are stark the melody simple but what a heartbreaker. Thanks Otis, interesting and tough to watch segment. R.I.P. Blaze and Townes. Two crazy diamonds for sure. 🎶

Off the top of my head. Big Cheeseburgers and Good French Fries. I was fortunate enough to see Gurf's tour promoting Kevin Triplett's "Duct Tape Messiah", a doc on Blaze. There is a lot of Blaze's art interwoven in the documentary for those who might want to see examples of it. Been thinking about this long enough and I believe "No Goodwill Stores in Waikiki" is starting to play in my head.
