Blaze Foley sings his sardonic song about people who are afraid of others for no reason other than their appearance. And he's obviously not a fan of the Reagans. Filmed around 1987. A few years ago, I was chatting with a couple of homeless guys in a parking lot next to a thrift store when some Karen told us, "You can't be here!" I asked her, "Where else am I going to park?". As she angrily stomped towards her car, I started softly singing, "Lock your door lady or I'll jump in your car...". The 2 guys cracked up, and asked me to sing the rest of it, so I did and told them about Blaze, the "Duct Tape Messiah".

Total BS. Foley wrote some great songs but this is real bad. It's just an example of how image is much more important to a lot of people than serious musicality. Being a "crazy duct-tape suicidal alcoholic outlaw" might make you famous in the short term, but it also means you will most likely die young. What a tragedy. When Foley was serious and got away from this image crap, he wrote some really great songs.

DOUBTFUL THAT YOU KNEW BLAZE , I MANAGED HIM FOR FIVE YEARS ...HE WAS A VERY SINCERE , WARM , WITTY , LOVING PERSON , AND GENIUS SONGWRITER .....THIS WAS WRITTEN ON ONE OF HIS MANY HOMELESS DAYS WHEN HE WAS STANDING ON THE CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION OF TWO STREETS WHEN A FINELY DRESSED LADY PULLED HER CAR UP TO THE INTERSECTION ...LOOKED OVER AT BLAZE ,STANDING THERE AND PRECEDED TO LOCK ALL 4 OF HER DOORS , WITH A LOOK ,AGHAST , OF DISDAIN. : THIS SONG WAS BLAZES RESPONSE : NO PRETENSE OR IMAGERY ...JUST “ IN YOUR FACE , RICH ‘ OL. ___________H.
