5-30-1991. POR at LAL, WCFs, Game 6. Clincher. (Good GAWD, this one was a pain in the arse, wow, PAL format NBA product I had to form into US standards and full of probs. I do this FOR YOU, my beloved fans!!). This game contains Magic's iconic and brilliant roll out to milk out the clock. I've never seen that play done before or after this example and this was to end a Conf Finals series and send a team to The Finals. Amazing. Clock operator was confused like everyone else and he accidentally stopped and restarted the clock during the rollout. This gave the opportunity for Chick and Dick Enberg to discuss the brilliance of the play as there was 1/10th of a sec left instead of triple zeros with people goin, "HUH?!" That 1/10th made all the diff.
--
Blazers of 90-92 were called chokers to their ire. I think that was partly to blame, but also Clyde wasn't a superstar on par w/ Isiah (near superstar if not real one, 1990), Magic (1991), and Mike (1992).

How in the world did Magic drag this team to The Finals. This team was old with average players outside of Worthy.

@@karmaisreal261No, the more talented teams tended to win even then. Magic was just that gifted at squeezing the most out of his teammates.

Magic was well past his prime, as well. Compared to say … 8 years earlier … he is stiffer, heavier and not as fast. So it’s a real tribute to his mental toughness they got to the finals … purely his incredible will to win. Quite an accomplishment. The Bulls really didn’t beat Showtime in the Finals - as that era was long gone. Sadly - Kareem, McAdoo, Wilkes, Cooper, Rambis and Nixon were only memories and were not coming through that door.

I still can't believe the Blazers didn't score on that fast break at the end. They had like a 4-on-1 and the ball goes out of bounds.

Whats crazy about this? Alot of younger Laker fans only remember Divac as the dude we traded for one of the greatest of all time. (NO BRAINER, RIP KOBE.) He was a huge part of Laker success when he was on our team and a pain in our asses when he played for a GREAT Sacramento team. Much respect man.

Magic was MVP runner up and played some of his best basketball in these playoffs. Divac was better statistically in these playoffs than Kareem was in their last title run in '88. Perkins waa more productive than any of their starting PFs in the '80s. In terms of depth, this team was about on par with the '88 team that was pushed to the brink by a Jazz team with no bench and was a phantom foul from losing the Finals in six games. Enough of this "Durrrr, Lakers were old, durrrr!" bullshsit. The Bulls in the 2nd three peat were older than this Lakers squad all three years. They were also older than Detroit was this year.
@redpillfreedom6692
@redpillfreedom6692 Год назад
@@johndo6175 Detroit was still in the ECF and was the previous year's champion. But conveniently, they're "too old" once they lose to Chicago according to your narrative.
@johndo6175
@johndo6175 Год назад
@@redpillfreedom6692 There is so much to refute here. Chicago won championships in a league diluted by expansion. in the 90s The bulls benefitted greatly by significant advancements in sports medicine and luxury travel ( teams in the 80s flew commercial and this impacts recovery time significantly). You're comparing Vlade to Kareem? ridiculous and not worth addressing. Age in the 80s was a mores significant factor compared to the 90s. There was no phantom foul. Should we look at the MULTITUDE of flagrant fouls committed by Detroit in that game that were NOT called? Magic was clearly nowhere near the player he was in 87. The Lakers in the 80s basically went to the finals almost every year and that has a significant impact. on recovery and the propensity to get injuryed. Unlike the Bulls who won, took a long break, retooled and won again. Dynasty vs interrupted "Dynasty"
