Kido is one of the coolest features of Bleach. I'm actually surprised that there really isn't much explanations of them besides like slight info here and there throughout the series.
Bakudou and Hadou is literally the most balanced magic system in Anime history. These 2 can cancel each other out and there isn't a special requirement to do them.
@@MashuSlyferiux one is literally for binding and one is more for damage. Sometimes one or the other are used to deflect attacks. Maybe in the anime itself it might not be obvious but some like bakudo 61: rikujokoro either did its job in binding or slowing down an enemy's advance.
Kido was something that should've been explored more. Imagine a complete Kido master, I would argue he could be as powerful as a bankai user. Kido stopped and sealed Aizen, if it's powerful enough for that it's powerful enough to fight with.
Tessai and the plump guy were masters; one the Kido squad leader, one the vice leader. Aizen also used black coffin to severely injure Komamura Sajin (the non-human Shinigami).
Hachigan and tessai were the leaders of the kidou corps hachi fought barragan the number two espada and Tessai was powerful enough to stop time with a forbidden kidou
nah.. they all weren't much usefull to waste time and master them... and I also think that Ichigo is not the type to control his reiatsu well to learn this quickly. .... he did better to focus only on fighting, swords, zanpakuto..... you know the quote? "I am not afraid of someone who tried 1 000kicks, I am afraid of the one who tried 1kick 1 000 times" ;)
@@Danickgerman yeah but they are massters of it ... they focused obviously ONLY on kido. When you look at the others that are not on the top level of using it and use only some... usually its not the game changing thing.. And do not forget thet if Ichigo would pay attention to learning kido he would have to do it instead of some other trainings he actually did.. so if he would learn kido he would be logically weaker in sword fighting, zanpakuto, hollowication etc. ..... You have to choose what to master. Like when in game you want to put points into many skills you gonna be only average in all. Just if you put all (or almost all) in one area you are gonna be master of it. PS maybe he could learn some from start and Rukia coould help him... but later in the Souls Society arc there were better things to learn than kido (Bankai, understanding zanpakuto abillities, shunpoo..) and after that there was really no reason to start learning it, when his single smash was much powerfull than low rank kido. His Bankai was strong as the really strong kido's... like when he can strike Getsuga strong as Hado 70 why would he waste time learning that Hado 70?
Bro this was such an underrated form of combat. They literally had wizards and magicians in bleach and they didn't even acknowledge it lmao. In hindsight. Having kido masters would've been the perfect way for the shinigami to hold off against the sternritter since they had no bankai
Reciting a poem to cast a spell in order to make it stronger is fuccing PEAK. As a poet & performer myself here in St Louis, I love this shit so much. Always have. Bleach is peak aesthetics
Funny to mention, but one of the most powerful Bankais begins with this poem: The Flowery Winds Become Disturbed, The God Of Flowers Sings, The Heavenly Winds Become Disturbed, The Devil Of Heaven Sneers. and finishes with a 3-part act that kills the opponent
It’s called incantation. When the user isn’t strong enough to simply use the technique, they have to use the incantation to generate the spell. Peak it is
This reminds me of the original Final Fantasy Tactics for PS One back in 1997. To use any type of magic or to summon monsters there was an incantation. "Wind, fade to silence and light, give us power! Shiva!"
If I were a shinigami, I’d spend all of my waking hours, practicing these. They’re so underrated wtf 😳 I’d be spamming hiryu gekisoku shinten raiho and danku
Literally. Also I dunno why they stop at 99. That guy who's the head of the Kido Corps, he's like an expert on this shit. If I was him or someone close to Yamamoto, Aizen or Kisuke's calibre, I'd study & invent new ones in my free time. Damn straight.
Kidou takes a lot of energy and skill, the higher the number the more power the casting requires. To much power while trying to cast a low number results in it backfiring/exploding. It really shows how much skill and power Urahara has with being able to fire off several in a row like how he did with Aizen.
@@alyssakelley4995 it doesn't require more energy at all. It requires more control, bad control usually means the kido is weakened or u blast yourself with it by accident. It's like finetuning spiritual pressure to meet a specific energy signature then augmenting the physical power. Notice how only the very intelligent shinigami in Bleach are the ones with high kido mastery. Hado 1 doesn't require more spiritual pressure than hado 99, it's difficulty in casting is using a more complex energy signature which in most cases, more complexed may mean stronger
@@unruly_ronin Well, they do stop at 99,but don't forget there are "hidden" Kidou, like Ichibei's Urahadou Teppuusatsu. I'm pretty sure Ichibei/Yamamoto, being the oldest Shinigami out there, knew a lot of secret/hidden Kidou.
@@rleor5694 Hachi is fully kido based fighter. While Urahara can use 90s tier kido casually between fights + fight with Zanpakto against Aizen/ Royal guard tier opponents. But thats not even his real area of expertise. Intelligence.
“Bakudō 81, Dankū” - Aizen saying that, as a Lieutenant, with a smile as his back is faced against a Kido spell will always be one of my favorite moments concerning kido.
Kido is how strong? It gets glossed over all by all Powerscalers ever, but Aizen got an Upgrade and was fully pieced by a Level 90 Hado Kisuke invented. Kido is strong but how does it scale?
@@loturzelrestaurant scales to the user and the amount of reiatsu they put into it. its why byakuya's low level kido spells can do so much, cuz hes putting captain level energy into it. If you do the chant it basically doubles in power but you gotta basically remember a long chant mid battle so most dont do it unless its a high level spell and they need extra power and usually have some support to distract. the higher the spell number is tho, the more energy it takes. it takes less if the chant isn't included but that comes at the cost of effectiveness.
@@KaiIchiRu96 you are right. Other than the different level of kido there is one big deciding factor of how much impactful kido will be in a fight which is the power level or reiatsu level of the user. If the user has strong spiritual pressure, the kido will be magnified accordingly. Rukia has been using Hado 31: Sakkaho or Hado 33: Sokkatsui since the very beginning with little to no effect. But in the hands of Byakuya or someone like Urahara it's deadly af.
@@sohailape they actually are pretty strong. For hados, it's not their "Destructive power" that makes them strong, it's what they do to the enemy. Take Byakurai as an example: a light beam that can fierce trough practically anything. Even arrancar hierro. And that is only hado n.4. Think what hado 91: Senju kouten taihou can do to an espada.
@@sohailape "Nothing" is an exaggeration, it was Hado 96 and Aizen actually escaped from it (and also, he was scared about Yama sword because we are talking about Ryujin Jakka, a Zanpakuto ridiculously strong, if it was idk Hisagi or such he would be more scared of their kidos than of their Zanpakutos)
@@MashuSlyferiux I mosty agree with you. Hado 97 used by Yamamoto himself still doing basically nothing just dirt up Aizen's clothes... But there are few things that could explain that: 1. - Yamamoto was havily damaged so I suppose his power is weakened also. Aizen was still without a scrath, at full power and without a sweet in the other hand. This maybe was more like last hopeless thing that Yamamoto tried to do than a serious dangerous attack. 2. - Aizen is strong af (Not maybe Yamamoto level but atleast close) and so is his reiatsu that he can use to block icncoming damage, also we saw him making something like greeen barrier against Ichigo first attack And a green shield in battle against captains. So maybe he also used something like this again(we just saw him jumping off the flames)
@@PlanetHotline senju koten taiho is actually comparable to a gran rey cero. There were some pretty inaccurate stuff in the novels but I think I can accept that due to the fact that a gran rey has so much speed and mass that it distorts space to a high degree, nd Aizen actually feared that kido
Always thought hado and kido were useless until the final battle of soul society arc when aizen used it against komamura and it became even cooler than some bankai and shikai when urahara used them against aizen which was the moment I thought they should explored more of this than some zanpakuto
Kido is part of why I find Byakura's battles more interesting, especially in Shikai form, since it's often a battle of wits and not just who's the better at physical strength.
I wish we got more examples of kido (and cero for that matter) taking people out/being devastating. They very rarely accomplished much on their own, which is unfortunate for how cool they can be.
@@iSven his biggest issue was reiatsu control. we're shown that if you can't control it the spells will just blow up and fail and ichigo can't control his for shit throughout the show (the most control he showed was when he did a semi walkable path when he was trying to reach the fake karakura fight). In addition, he was always very rushed in training, so i doubt he would've been able to sit still and learn it while also learning everything else (hollification and soul king training being the only 3 training moments where he could've possibly had someone teach him since every other time was under threat of possible death, i.e. when he was trying to be a soul reaper again/getting his bankai or with non soul reapers like the fullbringers). but i think with the hell arc he might've learned something (we dont know yet but im hopeful). would be cool if they show him use at least some basic hado or kido since he's older and could've gotten proper training if he wanted.
The way Aizen walked away from a job well done without giving a single F about the smartest man in bleach and blocked a high-level hado from a kido commander all while being lieutenant is so freaking epic.
The kisuke vs pre chrysalis aizen battle basically shows us how powerful kidos are, urahara didnt even use his shikai,he just used a lot of kidos with perfect timing to hit him with a direct blow using hado #91: Senju Koten Taihou and pushed aizen to the point of evolving to his chrysalis state and thats where he used his shikai.
This “spells” are something all shinigami could technically learn. Meanwhile the zanpakutos are arguably more powerful and unique between each individual shinigami. So it kinda says a lot when one of the major villain manages to dominate like crazy with mostly just kido
Hado 90: Kurohitsugi will always be the most ridiculously cool kido in the series. Of all possible kido, which we can assume Aizen mastered all the numbered ones due to him "reaching the limit" of shinigami potential, he chose to use kurohitsugi against Ichigo
@@alexterieur8813 I aint smart so here goes something you never asked for: ever noticed how most of the powerful shinigami that can perform Kido (except Urahara) have favourite spells that usually do what they zanpakutos usually cant, despite them themselves being able to do it with their speed and raw strength alone? Byakuya's Senbon Sakura slices and dices everything it touches, so his favourite Kido is #61, that allows him to bind ppl without having to move, something Senbon Sakura wouldnt do without killing the dude... except for the fact that he probably could just restrain them with his immense speed but I guess Mr Cold Heart's too cool for that same thing with Aizen, Kyoka Suigetsu is literally the perfect shield, if someone looks at the blade then they cant do shit against Aizen cuz its just gonna be an illusion, but it cant really hurt people, so I guess he likes big "fuck everything there" type attacks, mostly high level damaging ones... *if of course you just ignore the fact that he could 100% just slice them with his immense raw strength and speed* but I guess *Mr Professional Chair Enjoyer* is too cool to just use a sword except that one time he ripped off that captain's hand so I guess thats it, it makes him look cool and threatening, thats the reason why it represents Aizen
This didn't even show all of Hachi's spells did it? He had those INSANE sealing ones that kept getting more and more nuts until they ended up looking like an FF Summon lmao
@@roywempor8395they're both cocky and funny but when it's time to stand on business, they have it covered And another thing is how they evaluate a situation, you can literally see Urahara in gojo when that happens 😂
Like everyone else I agree, kido should be explored more! A shinigami with an arsenal of spells would be a force to be reckoned with, instead of just relying on one move that their shikai / bankai offered. Take for example Rukia before she got her powers back, she was versatile with kido spells but now only limited to just ice
That's what was cool about the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc. They just needed more varied Hado, but Bakudo was pretty interesting and featured a couple that we hardly ever got to see, if ever. Also Hakuda itself would be nice to see more of too, because there's even fewer experts of it than Kido, and sometimes one would have to act immediately.
Kido always seemed like an added bonus to a Fighting style. Like the guy with the chains electrifying them to shock his opponent once he had binded them. Or Byakuya using it to stun or restrain opponents that get in close range (his main weakness) But overall they seem pretty weak aside from a few and only when used by OP characters m
1 year late but they're using bakudo which is why it's weaker cause that's just the restraint stuff then there's hado which is basically destruction in subs
Since you mentioned Byakuya and his weakness ... I wonder why he had to sacrifice his arm when he could just bakudoed Tsukushima during their fight. Byakuya is so noble, his brain would automatically default to not using backhanded means. 😂😂😂
Bakudo N°73 Soren sokatsui by Rukia during the hueco mundo arc vs Aaroniero Arrurueri it's nice to see these it's a shame they didn't use it fully tho especially in games
One of the most epic moments in Bleach is when Dangai Ichigo casually shattered Aizen's Kurohitsugi without even trying. And that was epic for one reason. We've seen Aizen oneshot Komamura with Kurohitsugi. So we knew how fucking OP Ichigo had to be to obliterate such a powerful Kido technique.
I like the time kido was given spotlight which was when rukia was able to do double incantation to attack Espada 9. She also utilized the kido which only Byakuya can do perfectly so far in the series. Kuchiki supremacy 🔥
Kido as a power system should be explored wayy more since there’s still at least half of the hado and bakudo still unknown, not to mention the forbidden or secret kido not known to us and in addition there’s also kaido which although don’t need no incantation might be able to be used in different ways than just basic after battle healing
Filler can be pretty painful, since they keep spamming Hados 31 & 33. I wish they could get more original. For example I really like one that shows up later, Zangerin, since it incorporates the Zanpakuto, like Tenran. But by the time it's used, it just has no effect. It's pretty sad. It would also be pretty cool to see more Ura Hado too, since we've only seen one so far, and makes one wonder if there's Ura Bakudo too.
@@hitkid2456filler actually used a lotta kiddo Ouko used Hado 58 and bakudo 99 and a few others Koga used adamantine blast and others as well Amagai also used Hado and I think Kariya did as well Maybe you just didn't pay attention to it much
I’m sorry, but how could you forget Twin blue fire crash down (number 67 or 73)? When Rukia set up that whole trap and used it for the first time that was a damn awesome kido
Fr but reiatsu does play a part (although I still wish there was a costly way to get past it with a weaker spell or something). And you know, it does make you wonder if there's an "Ura Bakudo" that does the same for higher spells.
Kido is how strong? It gets glossed over all by all Powerscalers ever, but Aizen got an Upgrade and was fully pieced by a Level 90 Hado Kisuke invented. Kido is strong but how does it scale?
Kido was so underutilized. But it also made sense. Being able to cast a spell that just outright defeats a captain-level combatant in one go without the incantation like black coffin would've made any fight involving an actual captain who should be able to cast that spell a joke.
Dankuu is quite unfair imo. I wish there was a way to possibly get past it with a weaker spell. Although the spiritual pressures between opponents probably do matter.
The thing is about danku, you need hadou no. 90 and above to bypass it. and one more thing, only top dogs characters with very high spiritual pressure (ex. Captains, kido commander) able to cast danku
