Your tickly cough was probably caused by the fumes from the bleach. You have to be careful when you are near to it. The card is so unique. Thanks for sharing.❤
It was lovely to see & hear Cleo & feeling her enthusiasm for this beautiful passtime! My Grandaughter Annabelle once told me "Grandma, making cards is the best thing in the WHOLE WORLD! Pity she is now 12 going on 16! 😢 Anyway, I still believe that cardmaking is the best thing in MY own private creative world!🥰🌹🦘🦘🦘💌TFS
An oldie but goodie.....and one I haven't done in years!!! Thanks so much for the reminder AND your addition of the embossing powder took it over the top, just wonderful!!!
Christine, am addicted to your channel. Enchanted by your creative brain gears! So inspiring…absolutely love you style of humor as you talk to us and yourself🤣 However, think “throat tickle” may be related to chemical reaction to combo you have going on between paper dye, bleach and blending fluid, embossing powder and everything heated! PLEASE GUARD your lungs! We need you strong and going strong! ❤️Lorraine, Oxford,Michigan USA
Gosh, I haven't done card bleaching in years! Though I don't think I've ever done embossing with it and I am so loving the embossing along with the bleaching. Your card is beautiful and I love the color you got with the bleach on the black card, love your pencil shading as well. Love it with the extra embossing, but love the other one too. I think it is so sweet that Cleo is comfortable in your studio and I love that she wants to make backgrounds and cards. I just finally remember to pick up some shaving foam to do some myself along with baby powder to make your texture paste. Now I just need some time to play. LOL Hugs, Brenda
Went on Facebook and got a closer look at the finished and it was stunning as you see the embossing close up. I will have to try that with coloured pencils and gamsol to impress myself as most people who receive my cards admire them but don't appreciate the techniques that are done. Thanks for sharing your lovely card.
Oh Christine it's a beautiful design you've made. Exotic ... agatey ... ancient relicy ... :) Like 1,000 others no doubt I raced off to test various black scraps for suitability! I like the shadowing & variations that appear with different amounts of bleach. I think crayons greatly improve the appearance as the bleach leaves a rough texture. I'm enjoying experimenting with this.
@@Chrissieannie Thank you, yes I did! I've now finished my piece and am thrilled with the result. Using a stamping platform to enable a 2nd stamping works a treat which surprised me after having taken the piece out to work on, especially as crayonning had flattened some of the previous embossing. Your is the prettiest and most interesting bleach technique I've ever seen and it'll be used often, thank you so much.
Oh My Gosh. Lovely stamp, lovely technique. It makes me think Aztec artifact. I do love doing simple cards but on dark card stock so this may be a try for me. Thank you so much
Hopefully Cleo will keep enjoying crafting as she grows up and you can one day pass your craft items to her and she will already know how to use it all.
Beautiful card & I can see elements of both cardfronts that appeal. If I must choose, the re-application of the Versamark & gold embossing powder gave No.2 the "WOW" factor🎖️
@@Chrissieannie Please don’t worry about editing your videos, I like it your way Ms. Chrissie, but can I please make a suggestion, can you please press mute on your watch when you’re using your heat emboss Pretty Please🙏⁉️ Thanks again.
Lovely effect with the bleach, at one point the card where you were brushing over the bleach looked a beautiful red tone ❤ I may have to try this technique again 😊 I haven’t done this in years 👍 Thanks for sharing x
What fun to hear about Miss Cleo offering to find things for you. My little Grand Girls do the same. It a Joy to see another generation of creatives detached from their devices and eager to learn! I've not done this technique for yonks and your stamp was the perfect image to demonstrate the technique. The second layer of EP added a lovely lustre to the finished piece.. TFS
Hello Christine, Thank you for another great video, I have been watching your lovely videos on You Tube recently and am really enjoying the things you share. It made me smile too when you mentioned going back to using things that we haven't used for a long time. I have a drawer full of old glimmer eye shadows that I had put in to one of my crafting draws and not used for years too. On one of your videos, I'm sure mentioned that you had got or were getting a new electric embossing machine and think you said it was the new Sizzix one. I have been thinking of getting an electric one too, and was wondering if you are pleased with your new one. I live in France, so I'd need to get a French one for the guarantee to be valid here. Su
I think that the choice of machine can be very individual. The space available, price, size etc. I have a Sizzix Switch which is great but the plates warp very easily as they are under such pressure.
Thank you for getting back to me Christine re the Sizzix Switch, would you say though apart from the plates warping quickly, are you happy with it? I bought the original Cuttle Bug about 16 years ago, and still love it, and later on bought Sizzix Big shot plus because it could take larger embossing folders and dies etc. and the plates on that warp much more quickly than the ones for my Cuttle Bug, I still have my original Cuttle Bug plates and they are fine apart from the scratching from using cutting dies. The reason I was considering an electric machine is because of a problem I have with my shoulder, so I thought an electric machine would be a good idea.
I have a Big Shot Plus too, but I haven't used that since I got the Switch. I like that the top is flat so that I can put things like the plates on top when arranging the dies etc'
What a gorgeous effect! Really beautiful. I just wish bleach didn’t stink so much, because it can definitely create some super cool effects. Pretty sure that’s what was making you cough. If you can smell a product, that means chemicals are going into your respiratory passages & lungs
Chrissie that was a really enjoyable technique. I’ve used a paper stub and artists mineral spirit to blend coloured pencils often - what fun (!), but never the bleach beforehand and I’m keen to try that asap! I can see how much one could get carried away with the idea. There’s lots to explore with that technique. Thanks so much! PS: You may already do this, but once your paper stubs dry after use, you can clean and refine the point of them just using an emery board. I keep one with my collection of various sized stubs.
Thank you Amanda, I was just about to search for "home made" crayon blending solution! I just googled "artists mineral spirit UK equivalent" and it appears to be white spirit so I'll try that :)
@@Chrissieannie Thanks for the tip. I’m pretty good with ventilation for most things that need it, but it probably wouldn’t have occurred to me when using bleach. It’s an out of context chemical!
Hello Christine Je connaissais cette technique que l eau de javel(bleach) mais je ne saisbpas que le noir décoloré donnait de l or. Cet ajout de crayon sublime encore l effet . Bravo j aime beaucoup.👋👋👋
What a beautiful technique. That’s one I haven’t tried yet. Yours is beautiful so I’ll definitely have a go. Thank you for another great video. - Dawn 🌅
When I first saw your card at the start of the video, I thought you had embossed a piece of the card, then used the bleach to colour in the embossing. I wonder how that would turn out? 🤔 I’m guessing that the grooves would show more of a bleached effect if they were allowed to pool.
A really interesting video Christine. I have never seen bleach used with embossing powder or coloured pencils before. Is Zest-It what you use in the UK typically instead of Gamsol?
Is that a reddish color I see coming through the filigree of the stamped image? Quite reminiscent of holy books and grimore covers used in the movies!!
@@Chrissieannie I did see that you added colors a f t e r you’d finished the bleaching process, but I thought for sure I was seeing a distinct ruddy color developing in between the raised lines of the embossing. Never mind. There be days I can’t trust my vision! Anyway, thanks bunches for sharing your talents with us!
Hi. What a blast from the past that was, I was transported back to the 70's again! The card looks gorgeous and I have to ask.....is your coloured cardstock solid core or a white core? I was just wondering how much of a difference it would make. Gamsol is available here in the UK, I think I got mine from Jackson's Arts in London and they posted it up to me. I like that there's no fumes from it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work and video. Don't forget to get some air flowing when using bleach and have a fabulous day. 😊
@@Chrissieannie Yep, got to have plenty of fresh air when using the old bleach or you won't half know about it over the next few days. Thanks, I shall have to dig out my dark coloured cardstock to see what variety I have (I'm willing to bet it's not solid core) and try it out to see what happens.
I have been going back watching your older videos. After the past year, the videos jump to 8 years ago. Have a lot been removed or am i doing something wrong? Thank you.
I began trying to do videos way back about 8 years ago, but didn't get much done. I re-started doing them about 2-3 years ago on a more regular basis, so you probably haven't missed any!😊
Want to be a kill joy but Christine the bleach mixing with the blending solution may and the heat of the gun may be the cause of your irritated throat I'm probably wrong but I had a similar reaction because I used bleach and another chemical it wasn't severe thank goodness but i was told I was lucky as it can be quite dangerous I do love the technique with the bleach
I think you're right about the bleach and I should have ensured better ventilation before beginning the process. Thank you so much for your concern! It's appreciated.🧑
