Wow what a great brainwave. Beautiful card. Thank god for chemists who work in the craft industry. Without them we wouldn't have products like this or oxide inks etc. I love this technique and your ideas 💕
Very pretty! Glad you had the “brain wave”! I think I’d keep a container of soapy water nearby and drop the embossing folder with gesso on it in there, as soon as I was finished running it through the embossing machine. That’s what’s recommended with stencils, as soon as you get embossing paste, paint, etc. on them. Then, it’s much easier to clean them later, and it’s not necessary to even wipe them off, as soon as you’ve used them. Thanks for sharing!
Love the colours in the paste and isn't that poppy embossing folder beautiful. Gorgeous card Christine - and no, I wouldn't waste my gin either 🤣 love my gin. Thank you Christine. Hugs x
Oooh such a great idea looks quite stunning. I would never have thought to use my opal polish in this way. Wow another brilliant tip my brain is buzzing. Thanks as always Christine. Love the embossing tool down the edge of the panel also
What a great video!! And lovely card.....I have quite a few pots of this which I have had for quite a long time ........If they aren’t dried out I definitely will try this.......🦋xxx
Oh my word! Loads of fun to be had with this opal polish. Love the blue you used. Look forward to seeing what the green does. As always many thanks for inspiring us to think out of the box. Hugs from FL😊
Christine don't worry about taking time making your card or video. It is the creative process at work. I enjoy watching your videos.😊 Love watching you use the different mixed media.
This was a great brainwave! Those opal polishes are very cool! I love how they change colors on the white and black. Love this gorgeous card! As usual, you have done it again Christine! Hugs, Brenda
Another very enjoyable video with a great cup of coffee. It is the little things you do that I find fascinating and really finish the cards off. Just settle ideas that I love. That is a very interesting product. Thank you for Shari g😊
You made this video 9 months ago and I somehow missed it. I'm so glad to have watched it. Awesome technique. But my favorite part was your expression, "let the dog see the rabbit!" 😂😂. Thanks for the giggle.
Wow! What a “brain wave”. I love that description and your execution of it far exceeded my expectations!! Although I should know by now that is a common occurrence with your cards… My list of items to buy has grown “by leaps and bounds” today….😂. Seriously, you share such useful and versatile items. I always learn something from you during each video but this time there were several very helpful things you shared… I’d write forever sharing them all so I will tell you the one that has solved one of my biggest issues in creating cards. I’m really too finicky when I do anything! It doesn’t seem to bother me if others don’t do it like I … I have had a problem with unfinished edges when I layer anything. I nearly jumped out my recliner when you shared the way you rolled the edges with your scoring board and tool!! It looks fantastic, Chrissie!!! I’m so very excited now! I’ve sat down fiddling for hours trying to get something that I felt framed my panel with a finished look. It’s strange because I have always dabbled with crafts and when I decided to paint wood figures I bought a scroll saw (didn’t even know the name of saw until I purchased it) and just began cutting and painting without any reservations. I began painting shirts, painting with oils on canvas and framing them, painting watercolor pictures without being very critical of my work…plethora of things I’ve done in same spirit. Cards have been a totally different experience. I’m beginning to believe it’s because I have an idea in my head but I’m unable to execute it to any reasonable satisfaction. From watching your videos (especially the longer ones where you explain your processes) I’ve began to learn certain techniques that most others take for granted or learned in classes. I’m self taught with majority of anything related to arts/crafts. I’ve used books for assistance. What a difference your videos have made in helping me and in such short time. Thank you! Thank you and again thank you! I truly am excited after watching you today…. For all the joy and help you have so generously shared please accept my deepest gratitude. Nancy Rolfe P.S. please remember the many people like me who you bless anytime you read a complaint about the noise of your glue or heat gun, etc. It doesn’t bother me one bit!! I wish they could just focus on all you give….. My goodness! I do laugh so often as I learn It’s just been my favorite channel and I’ve always been better for having watched… I’m a talker 😂😂😂😂 Sincerely I thank you
I absolutely LOVE this - both the technique and the beautiful result! I purchased the Opal Polishes some time ago, but put them up and never really played with them. Thank you so much for the brilliant idea and sharing it with us. I will definitely see what I can do. You’re so clever!
Thanks Christine for another inspiration filled video. Love the use of the Opal polish and the awesome tip of scoring down the edge of a cut line, I don't like raw edges either. Have a wonderful Day.
Very beautiful effect, Christine! Will have to get some of that and give it a try. I need to use my black card stock more as I rarely make any cards with it. Thanks for the inspiration once again!
I have been playing with the Opal polish a bit lately too. Used it on the Gummiapan vases for a beautiful finish. I’m going to try it on some embossing too! Loved your beautiful card! ❤
Having been away for a few days, I've returned to a treasure trove of videos to enjoy with my morning cuppa. A gorgeous card resulted from your 'playing.' The delight in your voice as you discover new things is infectious. I shall definitely 'have a go and have a play.' Thank you
What a wonderful card. I love that technique. It’s stunning. When looking at the strip before adding it to the card, I was thinking bookmark. Add a tassel to the top (or bottom) and you have a stunning bookmark for your favourite novel. But the card is stunning. Thank you Christine for another wonderful project. - Dawn 🌅
Great brain wave…I like the black gesso trick…gonna try it with metallic watercolor…or the guilding wax that I have…. The $ store here has those sponges…I use them with the guilding flakes too
Can I just point out Chrissy, the Crafters companion, gemini machines do not readily take the Tim Holtz 3D folder, however, there is as usual, a fix, if you only use the thin metal shim with the embossing folder, it works just fine, just in case anyone asks you. 😁 🌈
I smiled at your ending, "Have a go, have a bit of fun!" Oh yes, thank you! Your ideas, your brain waves, are so inspiring, I have so many supplies I don't use because I don't have ''brain waves" so I appreciate your ides. Thank you again! By the way, your cards are always lovely...
I bought a few of those gels and have not yet played with them. I am so happy to have found your video. It gave me some awesome ideas. Thank you! I also had a pickle of a time trying to open the sponge top🙂
Definitely a brainwave Christine! It's so different. I've added the Opal Polish to my wishlist🙂. Thanks for the tip with the scoring board - I'm not a fan of the raw cut edges either.
Hi. Now this is just fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing card and tutorial, I'm officially awestruck. Now where did I put my wishlist?😂 Hope you're having a wonderful day and thanks again.
I made a similar looking card (different embossing folder). I used alcohol ink on a shiny silver cardstock before embossing it and cutting into a strip. However, using the score board to edge the panel makes a BIG difference in the overall appearance. Thanks for the tip! 💕
i don't have any embossing folders. i wonder if i could do this with an unmounted silicone stamp? Maybe too squishy, but I'll try spritzing the paper with water first.
Oooooo! I love it! I can't wait to get back to my craftdesk and have a go! Looks amazing! When I swatched my opal polishes I did white, grey and black strips, so many possibilities with them! ❤❤❤
Another successful experiment with such a good idea, I’ve scooched!! over my 3D embossing folder with the older product you have and was very pleased with the effect but you have taken it up to the next level. So I will be giving it a go, thank you for this idea it’s lovely. Take care.
I have used regular gilding polishes too, but thought that these opal polishes needed a special treatment... I was pleased with the outcome. I don't think it has been done anywhere before as far as I know!😊💙💙💙
