I don't understand the hate Chase has. Mostly I've seen the hate come from it being edgy, but jojo has those edgy moments Chase would fit.

The vocalist is just not my style. I feel like if the vocals were different it would be really good. It's OK, but that last note is SO. OFF. KEY. I checked and it is literally a quarter tone. And they just hold it. I despise that last note so much that it brings down the whole song. I think the tone of all the visuals and instruments is perfect for the part, it has nothing to do with it being "edgy" in my eyes.
