Love watching your tutorials Angie!! When I am trying to learn how to do something for our small family shirt business I always search for your videos! I am a subscriber now!! Thank you!
I'm loving the bleach/htv/removable vinyl segments, yay ol' school! I'm sure someone has mentioned this but I am really happy that you list the times for each segment. So very helpful!
I love your videos. The way you teach, experiment, and compare methods reminds me of a cooking show I used to watch on Food Network. You ma'am are the Alton Brown of the crafting world. Thank you for all the valuable information you provide!!!
I also love your videos..You have an awesome way of teaching your methods..Not like most where they go so fast Its hard to keep up..I greatly appreciate the way you take your time to make sure its easy to fallow..Thank you so much..you are awesome..cant wait to try this!!!
Excellent video!!! So many ways to bleach shirts. I love that you shared a bunch of ways to bleach, sublimate and add vinyl!! I absolutely love the shirt you're wearing!! Beautiful designs. Thanks so much for this in depth video!!! 💯👏🌸🌺💯👏🌸🌺💯👏🌸🌺
This is the BEST bleach/sublimation video I have seen! All the other ones I watched said to absolutely DONT use the low or no splash bleach, at the time that is all I had so I used it anyway and loved how I could control it. I bought some regular bleach, still like the low splash better but do use the regular for some applications.
On another bleaching/sublimation video I watched, she used the peroxide spray after pressing but left it under the heat press with the lid up and the heat helped to re-whiten the shirt again.
Just noticed you were using the peroxide in the clear bottles. It’s been a while but I remember seeing something somewhere talking about why peroxide is stored in a brown bottle. Hydrogen peroxide is highly reactive that can react with light or heat to produce water. To prevent it's reaction with light and heat to make water it is stored in coloured bottles so that light doesn't pass through it. You may already know this but I thought I’d share 😊 👍🏽 Thank you for the video! Love your tests, very appreciated!
Ms Angie your just Fantabulous 😊❣️thank you so much for this VERY helpful video ....I’m a newbie to Sublimation and so very nervous about some of new and different techniques you have to use for sublimation....you so help take the stress away Thank you again😍❣️
Just an FYI, I tried to bleach a Gilden, 50% cotton, 50% poly. shirt in the "safety yellow" color, size 2T (for my grandson) and it would not bleach for anything! I even started to wonder if there was something wrong with the bleach. lol Thanks for doing this video. It save me from doing the footwork myself!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Your educational videos are just that...educational and very well done!! Where did you get the shirt centering guide? It looks like it works really well.
I made quite a few “acid wash” shirts back in Nov. I used 100% cotton Gildan shirts. I did not know about the peroxide trick. About 1/2 of the shirts started developing bleach holes after 5-10 washes. I found the heather style didn’t bleach as easily, and I did have a purple that would not lighten and ended in a whole lot of holes! I also had an orange that did not go light enough to see the design well enough.
Thanks Angie! Wish I watched this before sublimating on a bleached shirt! Did you fry them after washing twice after you put them in the peroxide water bath before sublimating? Also, can you share how these shirts held up after washing and drying after wearing them?
I'm confused, to stop the bleaching process first you said its half peroxide/half water but then you it was half peroxide/half bleach? Can you [lease clarify that? I've never done this before and i have learned so much from your videos your a great instructor! Thank you
Great video! What percentage of polyester shirts can you either use a sublimation printer or ink transfer sheets on? I had thought it had to be 75% polyester or higher, but I noticed you used 65%. It's a game changer if lower percentages can be used!
65 poly/35 cotton is ideal for bleaching. 50/50 will still bleach, but you have to use diluted bleach (higher cotton count leads to very thin fabric and holes) and it likely won't flash to white where bleach is applied. Higher poly counts (especially 100% poly) are great for sublimation, but won't bleach since it's actually the COTTON fibers that bleach, not the polyester.
When you sublimated and then bleached, you washed the shirts after. The shirts you sublimated after bleaching had not been washed yet had not been washed after sublimating. Did you notice any fading on those after washing? I'd much rather have the crisp look but if they are going to fade a little either way, the bleaching after subbing seems so much easier.
Sublimation would not fade on a 100% polyester shirt but since these have some cotton it can fade some. I didn't notice anything in particular with these but I didn't have a sample to compare them to either.
Do you do anything before bleaching after sublimating, do you wash between processes? IE Sub -> Wash -> Bleach -> Wash? Also, what Bottles do you use? I find it impossible tto find a good spray bottle that does a fine vertical mist or even a steady stream. The vertical (straight down) aspect is the most difficult.
I have two questions, the bucket of half water half peroxide, can you use the same for all the shirts you are stopping bleaching on? or do you have to dump and have new for each shirt to stop bleach process. Second, the spray bottle you have on hand for scorching.. that 100% peroxide? or the half and half again?? Thank you for the tutorial!! Excited to try this out!
Rewatching, my thought process is sort of vintage...you bleached your shirt and maybe too large a spot, could/would you consider doing a bit of over dying for a different look before adding your vinyl or sublimation design? What do you think of my thought, Angie?
Hey Angie! Whenever I sublimate on a bleached shirt the colors come out darker and not bright, any ideas why this is? I also get pretty bad scorch marks which I know I can fix with peroxide but I haven’t been able to figure out how to get a nice bright print onto a bleached shirt
Can I bleach a black shirt, what should I expect? Also I want to use printable HTV on my shirt, have you tried it on bleached tshirt. Thanks for your videos. They are very educational and I learn from every one.
@@Theresa914 did you end up finding a black shirt that would bleach? I am in the process of trying to find a black shirt. I just ordered a couple more yesterday. But none of the bella's would bleach white only grey.
@@heatherbrown2371 no ma’am I did not, but I did have an idea for a different way. Maybe you can test it. Put diluted white fabric paint in a spray bottle and try a faux bleach. (Could even use different colors). Spray with white vinegar and water to set the paint. Your the master tester Heather, you can take this idea and maybe start a new fad. Just mention my name.
Very helpful information and thanks for all these helpful videos! So are you using new/fresh peroxide/water rinse for each shirt and can you use it multiple times? TIA.
When you dipped into the peroxide did you change out the solution between shirts? Also did you wash all these shirts together? Did you use detergent? Did you use a dryer sheet?
Thank you so much for this video, I really love how they all turned out! Do you know the colors and brand of the 2 shirts you used vinyl on, I like the turquoise shade you're wearing, but I love the color of the bleached look on the 2nd orange shirt. Thank you for your videos!
Angie, I love your video. I tried today at 71degrees outside, but it was part sun & clouds rolled in as I was spraying. I sprayed on splash-less straight bleach. I had combo of shirts cuz keep hearing diff things. I used 5 shirts - 100% cotton, 50/30plus mix, 60/40. Colors were teal, Heather burgundy, Heather purple, mauve & hot pink. I had them out there for an hr & it didn't start to do anything. I did lose most of my sun & some wind caused temp to drop a bit. I tried a hair dryer & that didn't help. I brought in cuz rain came. I rinsed in peroxide & put them in the washer. I guess I will try again on a defintely sun warm day. What am I doing wrong?
HELP!! And advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!! I attempted to bleach my very 1st shirt & everything was a disaster, ughhh.. Not sure what I did wrong... The shirt was a kids Rabbit Skin 100% cotton Red shirt, it wasn't a hot day, late afternoon sun (still had about 3 hrs before sunset). I sprayed & let it sit as I watched it. I left it for about 35-40 mins flipping back & forth. It looked decent so I decided that was enough & threw it in the washer with plain cool water..... Well OMG, it has holes in 4-5 spots, it yellowed where the white areas were.... Just a total HOT MESS.... Trashed It! Is it the shirt, the bleach too long or too strong (if so how do you get it to be white)
Good Morning Angie, Another great video, I was wondering if the shirt that you bleached first then sublimated on has to be 100% Poly for the Sub part? Thank you
Nice design! I love your content. I have one question how did you get your HTV design so big using cricut design space? I thought you could only design within a roughly 9 by 6 space? I looked through your videos I didn’t see a topic on this, maybe I missed it? If you can send the link or shed light on this please can you let me know, I’m about to take my Cricut back because I a need a larger design field. Thanks in advance and thanks for the wonderful content.
I bleached a 50/50 hot pink sweatshirt and after I washed it in cold water with little detergent the bleach spots weren’t white any more, it was almost like some of the pink ran to the bleached spots and turned them a pinky color instead of it staying white. I did not do the peroxide and water solution to stop the bleaching process. Any tips or advice on why it did that? Thanks!
