If you feel like something is missing from your animation, try raising the pelvis in between steps to add some bounce to the footwork - Might just be what you need :)

Those tutorial are always gold. For anyone using Unreal Engine 4, the Animation Editor (Persona) does a pretty good job mixing walk cycle even with only 4 animation BUT you have to take in mind that it is simply merging 2 animation with different weight to each other, it doesn't "create" a WalkDiagonal animation. So for example if you want to mix "Strafe left" with "Walk forward" to obtain "Move diagonally left" and both animations start with the same foot, you won't have any problem BUT if the "Strafe right" animation is just the left mirrored, than when you'll try to mix "Walk forward" and "Strafe right" you will have as a result an animation that tries to start with both left and right foot simultaneously, having as a result a glitchy-jumpy walk. This is evident for 45° and 225° because of the exact same weight applied to both animation. If you incur in this problem the best way to solve this, used even in Epic Games products, is to use 8 animation instead of 4 as demonstrated even in this video at 0:21

Thank you so much for emphasizing this. I've been quite indecisive about how I wanted to approach directional strafing. Initially I wanted to use just the base walk animation, but through control rigs and a bit of scripting, procedurally generate a "strafe variation" of it based on factors such as the direction the camera and/or the actor is facing, the intended movement direction, the direction of movement prior to the change in direction etc. It sounded pretty clever and multipurpose on paper, but the application itself was getting tedious and more computationally taxing as the script kept getting unnecessarily complicated. The 8-directional blend truly is Imo the most optimal strategy as it strikes a beautiful balance between of complexity and multipurpose utility.

Thanks to this Royal Skies LLC (if that IS your real name, doubt it) jerkwad, I've become completely spoiled on tutorial videos. Before I would skip my attempts at learning 3D art cuz it seriously felt like I was spending all the time I'd set aside for learning on watching and re-watching a video. The brevity is unbelievably helpful in lowering the entry barrier. Seriously man, these videos are incredible and I hope your instructional style catches on.

Is it possible to make the armature IK friendly after completing the animations? Because as soon as I make the armature IK friendly then all the premade animations go crazy.

Awesome tutorial as always. Could you do a tutorial on how to avoid gimbel lock? I seem to have issue when I'm twisting a character or trying to animate front flips.

Love your channel man. Could you please do a summary video covering how many ik controllers you have for your final rig? Like left foot, right foot, left arm, right arm, head, torso... pelvis.. is anything else? You’ve got individual videos but it’s hard to see what final product you ended up with

Now I notice what seems so strange with your animations. The upper body doesn't move as much as I think it should. Admittedly, this won't matter in a FPS game, and maybe its the design of the torso's clothes that hide the movement, because viewed from the side the upper body bobs believably enough.

When I strafe in the street people look at me weird. what am I doing wrong? Maybe it doesn't look natural because I'm not being smooth enough? I think I may need to correct my pose and make it more subtle.

This is kind of off topic, or you've already passed the topic. But could you go into how you could re-use a rig with a different model? You've made this elaborate armature available but is it just a matter of redoing the weight-paint and shape-keys? What if you need to re-scale it to fit the model?

will you do character customization? i hav an idea 4 1 thanks 2 some people, where u duplicate the bone (thigh 4 example) then parent it 2 the same bone u just copied, but with a different name(Scale_ThighL) (so parent Scale_ThighL to ThighL) then copy the vertex groups of ThighL adding another group called Scale_ThighL but modify it so it scales how it was weight painted (or something like that)

I have problem with exporting your free model to unity when I import it to unity (I did all us you show in the video) it looks like "backface culling" is on I try every possible way to fix it besides right one, please help I already lose hope to find a solution

**thumbs up emote** So I'm having trouble understanding the utilization of separate animations on the same body piece. The reason why I have a comprehensive issue with this is because of full body animations (like fisticuffs and kick boxing because of "fall through" body expressions for heavy hitters- Like "falcon punch") and how it will react with other elements. ...I guess this is a comment for one of your future videos.
