using blender 4.0 alpha, you can use this setup with cyclic curves, only had to set the Fill Mode to None for it to work (curve data menu / Shape / fill mode / None) then could also use resample on the original curve instead of subdividing in edit mode (and changing the curve object)
thanks for the video! What's the easiest way to do with this an extruded shape or text? I tried importing as SVG, convert to mesh, extrude, then went ahead with your instructions here. Not quite working. One thing I'm noticing is that the "quadralateral" node is leaving remnants when I turn trim curve down (at the start of the animation before things have faded in I still see lots of little junk, which can be removed if I remove the quadralateral node)...
Well you can only trim curves, so converting it to a mesh doesn’t work. You can onlu do that after the trim curve. You can also use a different shape for the curve instead of a quadrilateral, maybe that gives less artefacts!
This is a great intro! Is there a way that for the text logo (or always) to take the first point of the path and duplicate that to be in the location of the last point to avoid the unsightly start/end gaps?
Thanks! As far as I know that's not possible. This has to do with the 'Clyclic' issue that the Trim Curve node has. They might change the node in the feature. Would be great to be able to use cyclic curves, aswell as choose a startpoint of your own choice!
Good evening. A wonderful lesson. Since there is also very interesting and informative. However, my harmfulness makes me ask a question. And how can you set the order of curves So that the drawing is not all at once, but according to the type of writing manually, line by line???
If you create a custom text in something like illustrator, you could make it out of single lines and then give those thickness in Blender with the curve profile creating the look of filled text! But otherwise… no! Not easily atleast.
Have you added a ‘set material’ node in Geometry Nodes? You need to add that in and then select a material! Choose the one with the same name as your emission material. Hope that helps!
Yeah that's something of an issue with this method! You can get them pretty close using the techniques I show, but they'll never ACTUALLY connect, sadly..
I'm not 100% sure. Blender 2.92 and up have Geometry Nodes, but I don't know if they have similar nodes as I use in this video. It's probably easier to just use a more up to date version, if that's possible!
